Unfortunately one of the doctors in this practice is a wonderful baker and apparently brings in a cake just about every week. Give me strength! Are you afraid of spiders? Picture them crawling around inside the cake. Do you have a dog? Picture that the inside of the cake is really the doodoo from t...

My co-worker offered me a cracker once (some special low-cal snack for me to try since she knew I am dieting) and I told her I wasn't allowed. She looked at me like I was crazy (after all, how is a 5 calorie cracker going to ruin my diet), but I don't care. It wasn't part of a meal, so I couldn't ha...

I was doing so well that I stopped checking in daily. Now I have two failures in a row. Oh, well. I chose them, as opposed to feeling like I had no control over myself. 7/5/11 - Had ice cream with hot fudge after dinner. We bought it over the weekend and perhaps I should have thrown it out, but I di...

Young recommends sticking with three meals a day and choosing healthy snacks (such as fruits and vegetables) rather than processed foods. "And keep your portions in check," she says. I'm all about fruits and vegetables being healthy, but has anyone else wondered if this mixed message is part of wha...

I finished my Easter chocolate
I received chocolate from my mother and my husband on Easter. And finished it on July 1st! I think that proves No S has really cut down on my sugar intake. I think the candy would have lasted two weeks at the most pre-No S. :P Has anyone else found that snacks and/or sweets last a lot longer...

6/30/11 - Success (No S Diet & Exercise) Well, there you go. I had a "perfect" month. Gained 2.5 lbs. Ha, ha. Although it was all green and yellow, it was far from perfect, so I do have things to work on. For No S Diet, I am going to work on eating less for dinner and drinking beer less often...

I didn't find any pants at the thrift store (so I will try JCPenney today), but I bought another pair of "skinny" jeans (i.e., they don't quite fit yet). I know it is a bit silly to buy jeans that don't fit, but they were only $4 ($3.56 plus I donated my $0.44 change) and looked brand new. I look fo...

Most of my pants are too loose. I'm trying to decide if I should bite the bullet and buy new ones. My work pants are definitely too loose and I think it is time to replace them. I am going to check out the thrift store tonight and see if I can get lucky. No use spending a lot of money on pants I ho...

Back in my old jeans!
My pants didn't fall down, but I am wearing my former size jeans today!! My journey over the past year was tight 14, fitting 14, loose 14, and today I am wearing somewhat tight 12.
I look forward to wearing a somewhat tight 10 next year.

Habit takes energy. In the beginning, habit takes mental energy, to remember to be "good". A person has a finite amount of mental energy to spend on being virtuous. Once you cross over the line from consciously "being good" to just having the habit, you aren't using as much energy on it day to day,...
