Hi Everyone,

I started back with No S Jan 1, for the fifth time probably. This time I decided to have mods...two of them. First, I would choose my own "s" days, and I would have a max of 2 "s" events per s day. My reasoning was that waiting until the weekend each week felt too restrictive and was making me nuts, and then causing really wild s days.

This time, things are going very well. I've found that about 4 n days is optimal for me before having an s day. I've had 4 s days over the last 21 days. Because I get to choose when the time is right, it doesn't feel restrictive, and I don't get nuts. It's helped me to stop obsessing about food. I've also made it to the next meal much more easily without feeling like I am missing snacking. I'm surprised actually at how much easier not snacking has been this time around.

In the first 3 weeks, I've lost 5.5 lbs. The first 3 came off immediately, and then it's been about 3/4 lb per week. I should add that my meals are fairly substantial, but I get a lot of exercise.

I'm delighted that you found a way that works for you! It's good for people to hear some mods that work for some people, especially if they are not more restrictive than vanilla NoS.

Nice work. I'm glad your mods have helped you feel that you are in control.

I'm always curious what percentage weight loss certain amounts represent for people.

Here's to your continued success, no matter what mods you use.

Hi Oolala53,

Thanks.

To answer your query, I started at 138 lbs, and am now down to 132 lbs. I'm 5'5.5" and 51 y.o. I don't really know what my ideal weight is, but figure I am fast approaching it. My previous ideas of what I should weigh were just that...ideas that I tried to impose through various rules and diets. This time, I figure I will know once my weight starts to level off. I might have anywhere from a couple to 5 lbs left I think.

Congratulations!
I have used the "floating S Days" with success too.

Sometimes I go for 3 days, then take an S day. Sometimes I go the entire week before an S day. The original rule stays the same, 2 S days per week.

That's the beauty of No S, it can be tailored to fit anyone.

I've averaged just under 2 S days per week so far, but I plan to start doing exactly 2 S days per week starting this week, since I am approaching where I want to end up. I'm thinking Monday and Friday, but I may keep it floating. We'll see.

The main objective is to stay on board. All I have to do is remind myself that it is working this time.

Wow! Given how close you are to "goal" weight, losing as much as you did is quite a feat!

Here's to continued moderation.

I just want to add a bit to my previous post.

When I say it's working, I don't mean just weight loss. I am happier doing No S than not. I don't weigh, count, or measure anything. No food groups are restricted. I eat what I want to, and am not obsessing about food like before.

It's really more about the freedom than the number on the scale, although the fact that the number has gone down helps. Right now, I feel quite comfortable in my skin, so I plan to keep it up. I am fine with whatever my ideal weight ends up being.

P.S. Oolala53: don't forget that I get a lot of exercise. I was off work this past week and averaged about 2 hours a day at the gym. Usually, I go to the gym about 8 hours a week.
