here to stay!!!!!!!

Post by one2bhealthy » Fri Feb 06, 2015 12:30 am

hi guys , gonna jump right in here. wow been through alot. i will try not to make it to long.
i am pre diabetic have a fatty liver, high cholesterol and just dodged the diabetic bullet. on dec 29 i was approved to get a gastric sleeve, i was at my highest wt. 224. so i wound up cancelling cause it was around the holidays. then went back on the liquid diet and rescheduled date for gastric sleeve was jan 26.

cancelled again. so when i wanted to reschedule one last time, they said it didnt seem like i would be committed to what i had to do after the operation, so i was really depressed. now i HAVE to do this on my own. i have been excercising and kept 12 lbs off from the liquid diet.

wt now is 212. i want to finally stop messing with my body and mind.

i have to make a choice and commit to it!!!! or i will get diabetes and fatty liver disease. i have a great attitude now and am so sick of quitting everything. i am looking forward to reading how everyone is doing. i dont want to regret my decision to not get the gastric sleeve.

i hope everyone is doing well. i am so happy this site is still here, boy am i gonna need it. :D

It sounds like you are in the right state of mind for success. Desperation can fuel resolve. It is amazing what people can do when the right things are at stake.

And you know you don't have to get thin to reap most of the health benefits. You can aim for more loss, but see if it can just be the logical consequences of moderate eating and movement.

We've talked at length about self sabotage. There are two catch phrases we use: mark it and move on and you don't drive a car into a wall just because you got a ding.

The analogy, I think developed by the wise, lovely and talented KCCR, is a fail is like a dinging your car. If you scrape the paint on your car you don't say "Well, I might as well drive the car into the wall and get a different car because the paint is scraped."

If you choose to stick with it, No S is the way you will eat for the Rest. Of. Your. Life.

There will be fails. There just will be. But they will get to the point when the fail will be your co-worker who runs the "try it" nutrition and produce program for area schools brings in black bean brownies and wanted everyone to try a bite to see if the brownies would be a good way for the kids to sample beans. (They weren't).

Was this a fail; a point of non-compliance? Yes.

Did it cause me to then run right out and buy a box of cookies because I'd had a bite of black bean brownie?

No. It's just life, one of those situations that arise that are so infrequent and out of the ordinary that there is no point in making a rule for them. It's a lot simpler to mark it and move on.

There is a lot of internal housekeeping that happens with No S in how we look at the world. It's a slow process. Be patient and kind but also firm with yourself.
