100% juice

Post by abelincoln » Wed Apr 08, 2015 12:44 pm

I bought some grape juice that said 100% juice natural flavors it did not say no sugar added though and sugar is not in the ingredients instead it just says natural flavors I should have just brought by the Welch's brand but I was trying to get away with getting the cheap brand does anyone know what the natural flavors are? would it be that there is sugar in there besides the juice or has anyone run into this problem before thank you

If you are in the US, the ingredient list would have to list any added sugars such as high fructose corn syrup, glucose, etc. Natural flavors are different than added sugars.

For the last word (many of them) on natural flavors, read this from the FDA.

so if I read right it has to be a flavor not a calorie to be a natural flavor otherwise it would have to be listed as some type of sugar correct me if I'm wrong but the info that you provided seems to be enough to answer my question thank you

From what I read about "natural flavors" they are anything but natural. I don't believe they have calories unless chemicals have calories.
