I just watched Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest. It always turns my stomach. But, like those horror movies Christopher Lee was in, you have to watch them.

I don't know how the competitors don't hurl, or load their drawers?

It might be a green day today. Thank you Nathan's.

Competitors often train by drinking great volumes of water at a time and eating low calorie, high water content foods (lettuce, cabbage, etc.) to get their stomachs used to it. Their stomachs can increase 4x as much as the average person's. They also practice relaxing the muscles that allow them to swallow as they eat these things. The big time competitors don't espouse overeating contest food as a lifestyle.

They will sometimes even eat after the contest! But many don't feel very good.

I can't watch.

I know they drink a lot of water. And now many of the "eaters" look very fit.

Maybe it is the dunking the bun in water that gives me the willies. Something about the soggy thing.

And for the record. I clock in at two hot dogs, or bratwurts at a time. (That is with the bun.)
