What if I make a plate and get full?

OK - so today at lunch, I had made a sandwich, but it was cut in half. I had also brought about 2c of fresh raspberries and some yogurt to eat too. I ate the berries & 1/2 of the sandwich then I was full.

OMG WHAT DO I DO I STILL HAVE FOOD ON MY PLATE SOMEONE CALL THE NO S EMERGENCY HELPLINE RIGHT AWAY!!!

Just kidding.

I packed it back up and thought, well, I guess I'll extend lunch to 1 hour long and then eat it in an hour? I dont know if that is what I'm "supposed" to do. I dont think it killed me to finish the rest of my food an hour or so after lunch.

Just wondering what the guidelines are for this? Other than pack less food next time.

Hi candiceena- I think the idea of packing less food next time is good! Maybe try 75% of that lunch size and see if that is enough for you. Another thing is maybe try eating more slowly. I know if I shovel food down, which I am very likely to do, as it's my favorite way to eat(!), I get full fast but then get hungry shortly thereafter when it settles and proves not to be enough. If you try eating slowly and stopping when you are really full, and take the leftovers home, you will probably find the right volume of lunch for you, shortly.

Or you could have stopped at full and seen what happened.

I would say, if you are full then the meal is over. No saving to eat within an hour. This has happened to me many times. in fact it happened last night. I made a regular bowl of tortilla soup (it was a hearty soup) and I couldn't eat it all. So, that was it. I didn't save it to finish it off 30 minutes later. I have started eating on smaller plates (9 inch) and that helps.

If I have food left over at work, which is rare, I normally give it to a student.
