Although I would normally say I wouldn't buy stock in WW, if I had had an idea that this would happen... I guess I could be investing in Phillip Morris. They've made money this year, too.

LOL, yeah, hind-sight with investing is 20/20, right?! I wondered why I was seeing all of the Oprah/WW commercials lately, and now I know. She's popular and has a big draw, so, no wonder she's made money on her investment.

Good thing I didn't buy, unless I had been smart enough to get out in a few weeks. But I probably wouldn't have just out of principle. I let my mutual funds do my dirty work for me.

The article points out what I thought when I first saw her on commercials (before I knew she invested in WW)--that she's a poster child for yo-yo dieting and doesn't really seem like a strong "rep" for the company. So, I guess the stock dropping again isn't surprising.
The new commercial ("I love bread--I eat bread every day...") doesn't really speak to me either. I guess I kind of see that in the same vein as the chocolate commercials that make it seem like you can't live without chocolate. I mean hey, I really like bread too, and almost never turned down chocolate before No-S and N days! It just seems like food-worship the way some commercials are done.

I am not a portfolio manager, but I can't imagine a broker steering their investors to WWs. Coca Cola? Pepsico? yes, you bet, but WWs? Atkins Nutritional has gone bankrupt once, that should be a sign in regards to investing in the world of diets.
