"Ideal Weight Program" Questionnaire

Post by NaomiShambles » Wed Apr 10, 2019 4:10 am

A while ago I filled out this "Ideal Weight Program" questionnaire: https://www.humanos.me/home/iwpquiz

You answer some questions about your eating habits and it gives you a score in six categories:
  • Stress
  • Food Environment
  • Sleep
  • Appetite
  • Food Reward
  • Physical Activity
It didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know, or make me want to buy the online course it's selling, but I found it illuminating to have everything clearly broken down like that.

My one green zone was "Stress". Checks out; I have never been an emotional eater and my stress level is generally low.

My yellow zones were "Food Environment" and "Sleep". Fair. I don't keep a lot of treats at home, but there are a lot at work, often leading to unplanned indulgences. My sleep is generally decent, but I often go to bed about an hour later than I should, and I notice a big increase in appetite when I'm sleep deprived.

And my red zones were "Appetite", "Food Reward", and "Physical Activity". Definitely true. I like to eat a lot, love calorie-dense foods, and have a sedentary job.

At the time I didn't really know what to do with this information so I just saved the results and forgot about it.

Now that I've found out about the No S Diet, I realize that it can definitely help with my red & yellow zones. It will definitely help me avoid all the snacks and sweets that my office kitchen is stocked with, although I know resisting the frequent "special occasion" treats will be harder. Three meals a day & no snacking definitely satisfies my appetite better than snacking & trying to compensate with smaller meals. And limiting sweets to S days puts a limit on the highly-rewarding foods while still allowing me to enjoy them.

Sleep and physical activity, I'm not so sure if No S will help me, except that knowing I can't snack might encourage me to go to bed earlier, which in turn will help me wake up early enough to exercise.

Anyway, just thought other No S-ers might find this interesting!

Thanks for posting this.
I didn't really learn anything, but it was fun having "them" confirm my ideas about where I stand.
I need to exercise more according to anybody's health recommendations.
My reddest area was "Food Reward". Recently I posted in my check-in thread about this very topic.

This is per one of the guys I like to obsess on, Stephen Guyenet. I came out stress and exercise, though the way the questions were phrased, I sometimes answered as if some things were no problem at all when they occasionally are. It's funny about the stress because I'm never sure if I truly eat because of it or that just seems like the excuse the hunter/gatherer brain uses to take advantage. I have some of the same urges when under no stress at all.

But he recommends a pretty strict diet, not in amount but in content.
Count plates, not calories. 11 years "during"
Age 69
BMI Jan/10-30.8
1/12-26.8 3/13-24.9 +/- 8-lb. 3 yrs
9/17 22.8 (flux) 3/18 22.2
2 yrs flux 6/20 22
1/21-23

There is no S better than Vanilla No S (mods now as a senior citizen)
