Legacy Nossers

It dawned on me earlier tonight that those of us here in the early stages of this board and NOS are creating a legacy for those who will come after us.

When new people arrive here with the inevitable diet question, "How long have you been on this diet and how much weight have you lost?" there are precious few exemplars available to them, other than Reinhard, who have months and months or years of practice at this way of eating, with its concomitant weight loss.

But next year, and the year after that, and so on, there will be a small army of us who will be able to answer this question, and prove the efficacy of Reinhard's wisdom.

And when Reinhard finally writes the book on No S, he will have plenty of living, breathing examples from which to draw to adorn the pages of his best-selling diet book.

So when cravings appear and hunger strikes, think of your legacy before you reach for that doughnut! :D

Hi Samurai! :D You can lead us into battle Captain!!! Anytime..

Yes, Reinhard is creating a legacy legion of weight loss lauders..
I wanted to add to your ideas here... Hope it's cool with you...
Yes there are a precious few who have lost a large amount of weight so far (though I have heard that one woman had even lost 50 lbs as of last year... Of course that's just anecdotal... But still inspiring...)
However I don't think it really matters that we have these big numbers to show off to newbies... I think it matters that we are our own legacy... I can't wait to meet the new Debbie, each year! A work in progress... For my whole life...
That we make NoS work for the long haul for us.... That should be the priority... Of course we will then be, automatically, exemplars to others... The only way to do this is just by sticking with it...
Commitment... NOS doesn't need to keep up with the diet "Jones's"
It is special and truly in a class of it's own...
If someone asks me how much weight I lose.. I guess I'll tell them... And I am very proud of it too... But I might just say, "Well, ask me in a year from now, and then in two years, and then in three years....."
It's really important to deprogram the masses from believing that super quick methods are helpful... I lost 60 pounds with three different weight loss methods that were unmaintainable... It all came back in one bad year. In the end it didn't matter that it was fast, because it reverted to a gain again... No matter what, I know in my heart of hearts, that this diet won't leave me out in the cold one day, and won't backfire... It's a diet insurance policy which I can count on... That benefit outshines all benefits of all other diets.... NoS just resonates with people from the first time they read Reinhards manifesto... We know it will work before we go on it.
I don't think we have to worry about convincing, or impressing others...
It is very exciting, though, isn't it, to be part of a living legacy and pioneers who are paving the way towards a truly glorious dietary destiny!!!
Long Live the Alliance!!!
Love,
8) Deb

I think the new bulletin board is a better legacy builder than the old mailing list because it's so much easier to keep up with, and we can structure it better for continued, long term check-ins. The disadvantage is that it's a little more intimidating to sign up for, initially. But better get fewer people who are serious than legions of bemused dabblers, I guess.

Lurkers: if mere technophobia is what's keeping you from signing up, please don't hesitate to email me for help at beautiful_idiot@yahoo.com

Lurkers from the old list who have lost serious weight: I know there are a bunch of you. Please drop in and let us know how you're doing from time to time. Don't think you've no longer got anything interesting to share because you're at "mission accomplished" and have been there for a while. "Status quo" is big news a year or two or ten after a big weight loss! That's precisely the hard and interesting part, the part where examples are most sorely needed.

Hi Deb
I'm not worried about impressing or convincing others. I'm sorry if I gave that impression. I suppose it may be a matter of linguistics, but by leaving what I call a legacy, I mean to INSPIRE others.

There is no need to keep up with the diet Joneses, as it were. But I know there are thousands of people out there who need inspiration, who need role models for success, just as we were all inspired by Reinhard's ideas and yes, his pics and anecdotal evidence that, HEY THIS WORKS!

I enjoy logging in to the board and reading of other's successes, but also my own. I am my own inspiration in a sense; I read the previous logs in my Daily Check-In and I'm inspired to continue.

But my hope is also that I can one day contribute to the inspiration of others , the way Reinhard and othes on this board have for me. That's all!

Here's wishing you a long and wonderful legacy of No S Success! :D

Samurai San! :D
It is I who is sorry! I was being to presumptuous about what you meant too, and, I made way too much of a stink over what you said! It won't happen again! The Samurai has Grateful Debs total respect! LOL... I sometimes go off at the slightest provocation... It's only because I'm part animal and vegetable.. the vegetable part being a "Nut"
(wait that's not a vegetable, so what the heck is it???? LOL....)
As far as I'm concerned, each day that you try your hardest, you can go to sleep with a clear conscience and give yourself an A for effort...
YOU ARE ALREADY an Inspiration to me and people who are here with you! I admire your resolve and self respect!

Legacy Nosser who thinks she has lost about 15 lbs since Sept.. I think...
4.5 inches from waist... I know....
Let the inspiration begin!

Have a great night!

Thanks for the Legacy.
I think many of us are working hard to add to it.
