Free at last, free at last, free at last...................

Post by fkwan » Sat May 17, 2008 5:11 pm

Well. It finally happened.

I got up all ready to eat the coffee chip ice cream I made last week with some vegan hot fudge sauce.

The truth of the matter is that both the ice cream (my first attempt) and the sauce (likewise) tasted like utter crap and I didn't want to eat a bite of any of it.

I poured them down the sink.

In my MIL's refrigerator sit a box of non-vegan oatmeal raisin cookies and some leftover nonvegan fried onion rings.

I did not eat them, I am not going to eat them, I have absolutely no desire to eat them.

It's an S day, and I had an N day breakfast, except for the extra piece of whole wheat toast, and WAS FULL AND DID NOT WANT TO EAT ANYTHING ELSE.

I'm finally, truly free at last.

Thank you Reinhard.

Thank you universe.

I thank myself for my courage.

Junk food freedom is a remarkable thing, isn't it? It is enpowering to know that food does not control your life.

BrightAngel, I never ever thought it could happen to me. Mind you, I'm writing about these things under maximum stress, the sort that would send me to the cookie box x 10 before.

Friend of mine, an RN, told me way before I did No S that once I stopped sugar, 6 weeks later I would have no desire to eat it. I believe she is right.

Also, I have a lot of psychological "help" in that most of the stuff I used to eat I can't eat anymore because it's not vegan, and frankly, vegan equivalents don't taste as good. As to why I didn't feel so strongly before No S about this is still a mystery. :)

Hugs o' luck,

f

I've found that stress is generally easier to handle when I feel good about myself, or have taken control in some other area of my life. It sounds like you've really done that! Congratulations. Pat yourself on the back till your arm hurts, you deserve it

Well done f. You're right about the sugar thing. And being vegan must help a lot. I am a lacto-vegetarian and went to a function last night which had promised a "finger supper". Hah. They meant snacks and every one of them contained eggs or meat or were little cake things. So I had a very late dinner when I got home at 9:30 p.m.

I find that to be true as well, just not very satisfying those vegan treats :D !
