Please pray for me...

Post by CatholicCajun » Tue May 27, 2008 9:19 pm

It's starting out to be a rough week. First one of the ladies who works for me and also a best friend had a grandbaby early, he was not supposed to come until August and he came Saturday, he is of course on a vent in ICU with an infection, the mom has an infection, he was without oxygen so we do not know what condition he will be in down the road.

Another dear friend and her husband was in a bad motorcycle accident, he has numerous broken bones and had surgery, she has a fractured skull and is on a vent.

One of my neighbors was just diagnosed with colon and pacreatic cancer.

Mo other coworker's son in law just was admitted to the hospital, 36 years old with chest pains.

I am NOT going to over eat! Another friend sensed I was having a rough morning so she came and we did lunch together, we split a shrimp po-boy and her company was such a blessing.

I appreciate all the prayers. God Bless..

Oh, I forgot. On the positive side, I went to the grocery store to get milk to keep at work in case I get too hungry and there was the WW magazine with it's tantalizing cover on how to boost metabolism, etc. etc. and I picked it up and put it back. I had vowed that since I found this program I was no longer going to diet shop and since I bought the issue with the No S in it , I have only purchased one.

That's an awful lot of very tragic things to be going on at once CatholicCajun. I will definitely keep my thoughts and prayers with you.

Good for you for sticking with No S, and great to have a thoughtful friend like the one who shared lunch with you.
Creating and sustaining the No S habits are the only thing that will take me in the direction I want to go!

Boy, that's a lot of bad news.
Hopefully, everyone will be fine, we'll just have to pray and be patient.
I'm glad to see that you are going on strong, though.

Thank you all so much, you are all such a blessing! We found out that my friend in the motorcycle accident is off the vent, though she is very heavily sedated, and we do not know the extent of her head injury, but I think that she is breathing on her own is a good sign

The baby is not better, but he is not worse, so I take that as a good sign also.

The young man with the chest pains was just admitted, so they will have to run tests on him.

Again, I cannot thank all of you enough for your thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

A lot of people have reported that the routine of the No-S is very calming in the midst of a lot of chaos, and girl your life is the definition of chaos right now.

You will only feel worse if you let yourself slip back into that old bad habit of medicating with food. It sounds kinda cold but you over eating and gaining weight won't help these poor souls around you. If it did I'd be happy to join you in a big ol pig out. Oink oink!

Stay strong and healthy, you deserve it.

That is alot to deal with at one time!!

Sounds like what has been going on in my life. Two local teenage boys died last week, one in a car wreck, other shot himself. Going to one of their funerals tomorrow morning. Then my Insurance lady that I used for years found out she had breast cancer killed herself, started her car parked in her garage and let it run while she sit in it. Then a friend of mine that is a service provider for my company, her Mother passed away lastnight, so I am worried about her. It just all hits at once.

All we can do is trust God's plan and keep everybody involved in prayer. I will be praying for all of your friends and family.

I read somewhere that Serenity doesn't mean we stay outside the storm,
just that we can learn to be at peace while inside the storm.

I like that, BrightAngel.

I also draw on the Buddhist idea of balance between "wisdom and compassion" - the "twin wings." Tilting too much toward compassion overwhelms and incapacitates us, sapping our ability to help productively where we can. Tilting too much toward "wisdom" can be cold and unfeeling. A balance is needed, especially in complex situations.

When I find myself being either too judgmental or too overwhelmed emotionally by another's distress, I look for balance. Finding "wisdom" often starts with taking care of myself physically, and looking for some helpful thing to do. Bringing meals, offering to sit with children, even sending a card so that I can reach out without intruding...

Of course, there are times when I just have to endure the "storm" until it passes...

Sympathy to all who are overwhelmed. Take good care of yourselves and others you love.

Just a quick note to thank everyone for their prayers ans support, you are all such a blessing.

The baby is the same, I figure no bad news is a good thing.

My friend in the motorcycle accident is off the vent and even though she is still sedated her son said when you call her name she does open her eyes and looks at you, again I see this as a positive.

God BLess you all!!!
