telltalemonkey,

yes this has happened to me too. I had some Monavie, a whole fruit juice, to help stay on HABIT and got on with my day,
but to be honest it hasn't happened that often!

did you just call me a monkey? hee hee. i don't really like skipping meals, but i just wasn't hungry it was so odd. and even though i'm only on day 2 it already seems easier to not eat when i'm not really hungry. that is BIG for me. i'm an emotional/binge eater. so usually i'm always eating.

Half of this has happened to me; the half where I'm not hungry at a meal. It's not advisable to skip a meal (I've only ever missed meals through illness); if you're not hungry, eat something light. Your body will adapt to use the fuel you're giving it, so it's important, especially in the early stages, to feed consistently.

Mikey, because you are reprogramming your mind for habit it will be helpful if you can structure your eating on a regular schedule. It really is important to eat. I eat every three to four hours. If I don't eat, then I will binge at the next meal.

You can do this! Best of luck on this third day!

I wasn't hungry my first day on, but I've been ravenous ever since. It's still my first week, so it's to be expected, but I'm also chairbound because of a recent hip surgery. I have to rely on either my kiddos or my husband to make my plates, and usually, they don't load it up like I would if I were making it right now. And, I'm usually too embarrassed to say, "Is that it?"

I've been relying on drinks to curb my hunger, but I can honestly say, after reading the book, if I weren't hungry, I'd still eat. Richard's explanation makes a lot of sense about why you shouldn't skip meals. Wow - and the thought of eating when you aren't starving is just gold to my mind. Think of how nicely balanced you could build a plate?

no worries, i am kind of curious george like!!!
thanks for the responses guys. i totally agree and understand the dangers of skipping meals. it was def. an exception i am alwaaaayysss hungry. it was just so weird that i had to mention it. i will also mention that like i said i just had a medium latte for lunch. well, skipping the meal did have some effects later in the night. not with hunger but i couldn't sleep. i know it's not from the coffee (i have a high caffine tolarance). i suspect that maybe it might have been b/c my body/mind was waiting for dinner, ha! it was like, "okay we did bfast and lunch (my dinner).........the day can't be over yet."

I eat at mealtime, whether or not I'm hungry. Trains your body to get into a rhythm. Now I'm pretty much always hungry at mealtime, and not in between.

Little teaser content from the book (page 53):
So don’t eat when you’re hungry. Don’t eat when
you’re depressed. Don’t eat when you’ve seen a good
number on the scale and you think you can afford a
few extra calories. Eat when it’s time to eat, just like
thin people did for thousands of years.

This doesn’t mean you’ll be starving all the time.
Limit your intake to meals and your appetite will grad-
ually learn that that’s the time to get hungry.

What If I’m Not Hungry at Mealtime?

If you’re not hungry at mealtime, you will be hungry
an hour later, so eat preemptively. Once you get a regu-
lar routine of mealtime eating down, this won’t happen
much. Remember: You’re the boss. You’re the trainer.
Your appetite is a dumb brute, an animal. You tell it
when to get hungry; and, like Pavlov’s dogs, it’ll learn.
If you let your appetite lead you, that’s like the dog
leading the trainer: not only counterproductive but
degrading.
