Slow and Steady wins the race -- Right?

Post by Laff » Fri Aug 29, 2008 12:59 am

Yahoo! My monthly weigh in this morning (a little snapshot in time) tells me that I am down another 1.5 pounds, so am now just over 10 pounds lost on this sensible eating plan! It seems small for 4 months but I am happy with it, especially happy to be going back to work with a weight loss instead of a gain over the summer months.
We all can do this. Stay focused, be happy.

Hi Laff,

Congrats!! I think 10lbs is great for only 4 months. Don't sell your hard work short!

Keep up the great work.

Excellent!!!
Normal healthy diets can expect to see between 20 and 30 pounds loss over a whole year.
The quick loss mentality is the problem cos you are so used to hearing stuff like "lose thirty pounds in thirty days" But that is totally unmaintainable unless your daily habits change. 10 pounds in four months is great!
Good for you! Congrats!

That's a great weightloss for 4 months!

YES, slow and steady is the way to go. I watched pound by pound and I"m still down 35lbs and losing slowly.

Give it time, focus on the habits, not so much the food/calories, and you'll be all set.

I am thouroughly enjoying the fact that I do not fight myself over foods being good or bad. I don't spend the evening feeling sad and depressed because I'm fat. Now I just feel normal. Even though I've got a good 30 or so to go...

Laff...10 pounds is terrific! That's 2 bags of flour....or 10 boxes of butter! I'm a visual kinda person!

Well done!

Congratulations!

10 pounds in four months is plenty. Generally speaking, the slower the pounds come off, the more likely they are to stay off. Why? Because it's an indication that you lost them with moderate, sustainable behaviors.
