"Snap-happy dieters reap benefits"

Post by Too solid flesh » Thu Sep 04, 2008 5:42 pm

There is a little piece in the latest _New Scientist_ magazine about the possible benefit to dieters of photographing their meals before eating them. See:

It does strike me that it is a small and very short study (43 people for one week), but interesting nonetheless.

Is this effect something our wonderful NoS photographing bloggers have noticed?

Very interesting.

I suspect taking photos does effect me on some level, certainly on how I "set up" my plate :D but I don't take a photo of every bite I put in my month, usually just one meal a day.

I wonder if there were days I would have eaten less if I had taken a picture of every meal ... thinking mostly about S days here ... hmmm... would I be willing to experiment with this for say 30 days ... maybe ... i will have to think on it!

Taking photos is time consuming if you are trying to get them nice and then put them up somewhere, but if you were just snapping them as a visual food log might be quicker.

Very interesting. Definitely pushes us more towards the whole concept of eyeballing our food instead of counting it ....

Hmmmmmmmmm
