Hi, I'm new!

Post by alanajuliana » Fri Nov 14, 2008 1:52 pm

Hi All,

My brother introduced me to No-S last monday, I guess it was, and the moment I read about it, I started it. Since I'd read about No-S earlier in the day, before I typically started my feeding trough snack rounds, I decided to go ahead and count that as my first green day, even though I'd had one cookie an hour after lunch.

So, this is day 5 for me, and I decided to introduce myself.

My name is Alana, I'm 38 years old. Been doing Weight Watchers for a year, and hit a brick wall, not able to sustain it....something deeper going on with my disordered eating. So I started seeing an eating disorder therapist, which is great and not at all incompatible with No-S concepts/eating style.

I must say: I'm hypoglycemic, and was somewhat worried if I could make it all afternoon without a snack. BUT I DID!!! I have managed it all week. So I'm wondering if that desperate panic and the I NEED FOOD NOW feeling is learned behavior/habit, as much as true physical need.

I still get a bit of an energy slump between 3 and 4 pm, but I've found that if I rest for a bit and then go walking or workout in the fitness center, I am FINE until dinner.

Yesterday, I didn't even get hungry, just tired and very thirsty at that time of day.

I am confident that I will loose weight doing this (I've recently moved, and the moving stress and overeating related to that stress packed ten pounds back on, besides me not being anywhere near my goal weight.) since I used to eat A LOT of food late at night and basically what amounted to an extra meal in the afternoons.

I'm enjoying my meals more, and looking forward to my first careful S days this weekend.

Welcome Alana & Anna!

I've been doing this plan for 108 days...yup, I did WW before too, but couldn't make it a life-long success. This plan is so different....it'll change you from the inside out...brilliant!

Stick around the forum...you'll find a lot of info and great encouragement from supportive people!

Welcome again,
janie

Welcome. I succeeded at WW twice in the past and am a lifetime member. Key is in the drawer. It is the maintence over a long period of time with the craziness of life that I could not sustain it.

Nos is very different and real. Enjoy the journey as a dear poster here on the boards might say.

Welcome!

Remember that caloric drinks (as long as they're not "sweets") are allowed on No-s, and can be a big help if you find yourself getting too hungry between meals.

Welcome! I am another WW refugee. Reached my all-time low on it, but it created obsessive/compulsive behavior stuff that was as bad as being overweight, really. I've discovered that recovering from years and years of restrictive dieting takes a big mental shift, and I think it's SO GOOD AND SMART that you're seeing a specialist to help you through it. I think you'll love NO-S. Glad to have you here.

So I should not feel guilty about drinking decaf coffee with sugar free creamer for half the morning?

Or I could have a tea with some milk in it in the afternoon?

You shouldn't feel bad about the tea or coffee! Just put in "what it takes" to make it usable for you. The main point of the drinks is that you can fix'em the way you want 'em. Soda, bottled stuff, juices, the sugar levels are already fixed. Fake sweetners just make you hungrier for the real stuff.

A spoonful of honey helps the herbal tea go down...or something like it. ;)

and the moment I read about it, I started it.
me too!

Alanajuliana, (beautiful name) WELCOME!
something deeper going on with my disordered eating.
Reinhard doesn't recommend this for "eating disorders" but I have Binge Eating Disorder and my eating was extremely disordered before No S, even though I was not THAT overweight ...

No S Diet has seriously worked a "miracle" on my relationship with food, that is my personal experience.

Glad you are here,

Yeah, I figured I'd be OK to work No S into what I'm doing with my therapist. It fits.
