14 Pounds in Less than a MONTH :)

Post by FarmerHal » Tue Sep 01, 2009 6:17 pm

Yay! I went from 234.5 to 220.5 this morning, just a little over 3 weeks now.

I made some Mods to noS for me...
1. No grainS (no bread, cereal, noodles, rice, etc in any form whole or processed) or Starch (potatoes, sweet potatoes)
2. Reduced Dairy (little milk, no sweetened yogurt) But much dairy doesn't agree with me anyway.
3. Limited Sweets on S days, and I am keeping mostly to Special days (bdays, holidays, etc) and not every weekend.
4. No Salt and limited Seasonings (salt causes me to retain water and feel very unpleasant, seasonings have hidden salts, msg and preservatives.

Basically now I am eating now carb: meats, poultry, fish, shellfish, greens, veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds (kindof along the paleo diet lines).

I FEEL a lot better, much more energetic.
After a LONG weightloss stall, fatigue/no energy, depression, etc, this is a much better way of eating for me, and perhaps if you are having issues with weight stalls or carb cravings, this might be helpful?

:) Just happy about 14 down, 2 to my first mini goal (218, which was a weight before pregnancy) then 200 then 10lb incriments to maybe 170, maybe180. :)

Congratulations Shamrockmommy! That's great!

A word about salt...I have congestive heart failure and my cardiologist told me he didn't care what I ate, or how much salt I used in cooking or at the table. I should, however, avoid processed foods because that's where we get 70%-80% of our sodium intake.

I do use salt in cooking and at the table and never have problems. Processed foods cause problems in a very short period of time.

Wosnes! Wow. That is certainly a powerful indictment against processed foods.

I have a family history of high blood pressure and right now my blood pressure is "pre-hypertensive". My doctors aren't worried but I think I need to work even more on the no processed foods thing.

Let me start another thread where we can talk more about this. I don't want to derail Tiffani's much deserved congratulations! Your DH won't recognize you by the time he gets back.

That's wonderful! Can I ask what you're doing for alternatives to dairy? Do you take a calcium supplement? I'm curious, because I have problems with dairy, too.

Leafy greens and veggies like brocolli and nuts like almonds have plenty of calcium and is what I count on for calcium. I've also read that calcium from these sources are more absorbable than from dairy.

Wow! Stay strong and keep it up... you're on a roll!
I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.
Please pray for me
