A suprise from being Vegetarian

While dining with my hubby last night, I got to thinking. About second portions. We have been vegetarian for about a year and I have realized that now that we don't eat meat, we hardly ever have second portions.
I am not vegetarian because I didn't enjoy meat or the taste of it. I liked it very much, but stopped eating it for other reasons. But, now that I think about it... I could always eat more meat! And I would!
I have pretty much gone for the whole year without wanting or needing seconds. So, that's a No S triumph for me! For instance, I would opt to eat more than one hamburger, but I would only eat one veggie burger. I could eat endless pieces of hoagies at a party, but now I am restricted and really there is just so much tuna one can eat...

I've followed a vegan diet in the past, but have eaten meat in the past and currently eat meat. I've never allowed more than one serving of meat/person at a meal. There might be seconds of other things, but never meat or the main dish including meat.
Never more than one hamburger or hot dog, never more than one pork chop or serving of stew, etc. That's just the way I've always done it.

Yeah, I eat a lot like wosnes. One proper portion of meat. Usually just at lunch and dinner.
Glad you've found something that works for you, Oliviamanda!

I generally only have meat at dinner. Lunch only if it's leftover -- and I try not to have leftovers.

That's great Olivia! I just switched to Vegetarian with fish and eggs, and after a month I have experienced some other great side benefits..Unless you get your meat from an organic source, you can be sure it's packed with hormones and other nasties... I can feel the difference in my health already.
I'm also rooting out most sources of msg, unless it's hidden, and high fructose corn syrup..
I'm glad to hear it's working out well for you

I think eating in a way that you know is nourishing lessens the physical and mental need to go for more and overeat.
Erm, unless it's bagels and salmon salad or whitefish.. that's for S days cos it's too yummy to only have one! haha

Have a great New Years!

I do seek out things that weren't factory-farmed. The difference in taste is incredible, not to mention that they're healthier. Unfortunately, so is the difference in price.
