I worked hard to drop 10-15 for my trip to the Caribbean, actually did quite well down there (3 meals a day, no snacks or seconds, not even sweets, well except for two Caucasians I drank, and two Guiness), and came home down another pound or two. (A lot of swimming and snorkeling...) I may have been aided by the room full of college girls across the hall in our hotel. I haven't walked around with my mid section sucked in for years.
Since returning home I have been shoveling anything and everything in my pie hole. I have been continuing to exercise, having worked up to 45 3x's a week on the Airdyne, but that isn't counteracting the food, gobs of food I am shoveling into the trough.
Time to focus, just trying to figure out how. Probably need to stop worrying about appearance now, and start working on blood pressure and blood work, which is not spectacular.

Unfortunately, I think it's true that when we lose weight for a certain event, either overtly or secretly, we think after the event, it is time to let go. There can be a backlash against the rigor. That MIGHT be what is happening to you, over43. It sounds like you might have been a little stricter than you would be in the long run. But you know what you were thinking and feeling.
I made a bet with a friend about inch-loss before Labor Day. I'm sorry I did now because it's adding a level of slight anxiety to my efforts. I thought it would give me incentive to tighten up my eating on S days, but that hasn't happened and I find myself having times of feeling really bad about it, though I can usually talk myself out of that. It wouldn't be the end of the world to lose, and finding a way to live permanently is more important.
