I'm Back!

Post by storm fox » Tue Feb 15, 2011 3:56 pm

I have been elbows deep into nutritionism and "optimization." Low carb, slow carb, paleo, intermittent fasting, calorie counting, and all manner of obsessing, micromanaging, fretting, etc. All the while, I was fighting this small, soft background thought of, "I had sustainable success on No-S. I could go back to No-S and stop worrying so much and failing so often and so terribly." I even told my wife several times, "I don't know why I keep monkeying around like this. I should just go back to vanilla No-S." Today, maddeningly entering and revising various portions of foods to get "optimal" balances of nutrients, I threw up my hands and said "f*** it, I'm going back to vanilla No-S." I looked up the Spanish translation for "Long live common sense!" and it's "¡Viva el sentido común!"

Welcome back! Great to see you here again, Storm.

Premature optimization is a sore temptation, especially for thoughtful, creative people. My defense has been to conscript my imagination into the propaganda department for simplicity and moderation. That keeps it PLENTY busy!
"¡Viva el sentido común!"
Sounds so much better in Spanish, doesn't it? I can see the barricades going up now...

I so agree! Welcome back.

I stray to find faster magic ways of loosing. There aren't any. Be the turtle, not the hare. Give it patience and this is the most sane way to go! Welcome back!
Give it at least a month... you'll see!
I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.
Please pray for me
