After 55 years of struggling with weight, a major health crisis and hitting age 65. I made major lifestyle changes and have lost 49 lbs since aug 30,2010. My eating plan has gotten more & more simple over the months. I found No S a few years ago but couldn't sustain it. Logged in about a week ago & it fits perfectly. Am actively doing. NOS vanilla. Check out my habitual at linda45. Have lost 4 lbs this week. S/C/G. 263/214/190. my ultimate goal is about 165-170. [/b]

Congratulations to you!

I just hit 64 and finally feel like you that I have made the life changes I needed after battling this issue for most of my life. I guess better late than never, right? I also see that you joined the NoS forum the exact date I did, and I didn't start losing until October 2010.

Have you tried to pick up and carry the amount of weight you have lost around for any length of time? That will remind you of your success!

Congratulations!

Love TexArk's suggestion to "pick up the lost weight." When you aren't carrying it all the time, you have so much energy for other things!

Wow that's great!! Congratulations :)
Just wondering, did you lose most of the weight by following NoS alone? Have you exercised as well?
Keep up the great work!

Here is more of my story. First regarding exercise, I had double knee replacements 4 years ago so regular exercise was not doable until just recently. I've devised my own plan - I dance around my living room to country western music or jukebox oldies. I actually love it, who would have thought that moving felt good!

I began 7 months ago to discover a way of eating I could do every day for the rest of my life. In a very real way this has been a spiritual journey. Step by step I feel God has shown me how, what & when to eat. For the 1st few months I kept a detailed food journal. Now I know the types & portion size of food my body responds to best. The cravings are gone- still have the candy from Christmas sitting in the cupboard. I've only had one day when I ate compulsively. I eat in response to hunger & to the point of gentle fullness.

The fruit of these months.
1. I've got my health & my life back.
2. I can move & do things especially with my grandchildren that were impossible just a few months ago.
3. I feel beautiful!
4. I've quit dieting, bowing down to the scale god & giving diet experts the authority in my life.

So glad to hear it! I'm on another board where there is a group of people over 50 who have reached their goal weight and are maintaining it. I haven't yet, but I read it for inspiration. So many people reinforce the idea that it's hard after a certain age, but it's not impossible. I want to keep aiming at what is possible while still living a reasonable life. Thank you for posting!
