I've decided to start putting a little more effort into my S Day desserts. Grazing on a buffet of endless chocolate, pre-packaged desserts is just fine and dandy for a while, but I'm finding that if I take the time to make something nice and put it in a nice dessert dish (thank you, Noel), it's much more satisfying and will improve my habits on those days.

Anybody have some good dessert recipes to share? Obviously, anyone who has read any of my posts to date will know that CHOCOLATE would be a required ingredient.

One of my favourite desserts is vanilla ice cream (I use Haagen Daas), fresh berries and a chocolate sauce. This is delicious and very pretty!

My two favorites are a few squares of dark chocolate, and fresh fruit.

We make homemade ice cream every weekend & take turns choosing the flavor. So far, peanut butter cup has been our favorite. Next weekend I'll make Peanut Butter Killers for a party. They are pb brownies with chocolate frosting. I'll list the recipe if anyone wants it....

I haven't had revel bars for years. I think my favorite chocolate dessert is Katharine Hepburn's Brownies. They're excellent by themselves and decadent if accompanied by a scoop of good vanilla ice cream (or chocolate or coffee). The head notes to this recipe mentions the recipe being published in the August, 1975 issue of Ladies' Home Journal. That's where I got it. So, I've been making these a few years!

When I was at the grocery I noticed the Pepperidge Farm cookies and there's chocolate chip cookie with toffee and almonds. So, today I'm making an oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips, toffee and almonds. I hope it's as good as it sounds!

Well, my children (13 and 16) saw a pint of a new Ben and Jerry's flavor in the grocery store and cracked up so hard we had to try the flavor. Schweddy balls. Yes, marketing got us good on that one. So that's going to be our treat this weekend. Heaven help us... (Though I think the flavor will be good).

I buy gourmet bite size cookies, brownies, bites of chocolate. YUM YUM real good and I get 2-3 bites out of a bite size too. Especially good with a cup of java.

It's vanilla ice cream with rum flavoring and malt balls. I rather like it, but the NAME... *head shake*

(I've never seen the SNL skit. I don't watch TV).

I love the SNL skit. Crazy stuff.

I have 2 unusual but delicious recipes for dark chocolate. They are both easy, decadent and easy to throw together quickly for company.
One is from Eating Well magazine. Melt dark chocolate, stir in 1 cup of blueberries and spoon out on waxed paper like you would for peanut clusters. They have to be eaten within a day or two but they are great.

The other is chocolate covered blue cheese. That recipe is from Food and Wine. Cut blue cheese in about half inch cubes and dip in melted dark chocolate. To die for if you like blue cheese.

Did not like the revel bars
Will likely have angel food cake this weekend going to look for a chocolate ganach frosting recipe to go with.

Wow... I love chocolate and I love blue cheese, but the thought of them together..... Not appealing. (Although I might try it, just for fun.)
