Dentist

Post by xJocelynx87 » Tue Nov 01, 2011 1:12 am

I have a dentist appointment on Wednesday to get 2 cavities filled...no fun! Anyway, the appointment is at 12:45, so I won't be able to eat after it because my mouth will be numb, and I'm teaching a cooking class at night and will not be done until around 8:30. So the only option is to eat lunch around 12, and dinner around 8:30. Or I could just chalk it up to an NWS day and eat whenever my mouth/schedule allows. What do you all think?

Thanks!
Jocelyn

Definitely grounds for a "sick" day. NWS.

Well, when will you be able to eat? 3 pm? I'd do that instead of permasnacking, to be honest. Or plate your meal at 12 and have half of it before the appointment and the rest whenever you'll be able to eat.

Permasnacking isn't really an issue for me. I'm just trying to get rid of my "need" to have sweets daily. An NWS day due to the dentist probably wouldn't look much different from an N day other than the meals might be at odd times and more "snacky" in nature than I would normally have. I haven't quite made up my mind yet. Thanks for the input!

Eat lunch around 12 and dinner around 8:30. Toss back a protein beverage like milk or a protein drink just before class. This isn't sustainable but you can do it for one day.

If I'm in a situation where I can't eat and where I'm busy, I rarely find hunger distracting.

I change my answer: NWS probably isn't necessary. I"d probably plan to eat a heftier lunch than normal. I know I've had a Costco pizza slice at 1 p.m. and not gotten hungry again until 10 p.m., at which time I've had broth with veggies.

For the record, I find when I actually do get hungry, I find it very hard to get distracted. I can distract myself better when it's just the urge to eat and it's not meal time. and if I am busy, I can sometimes go quite a long time without actually getting hungry.

I took the NWS day, but I probably didn't eat any more than usual. I had yogurt and granola around 1130, coffee, a banana, and a granola bar after my appointment, and then spinach and macaroni and cheese after class. The only difference in my actual food intake was that it was spread out instead of 3 distinct meals. A good learning experience, for sure! Next time I'll probably just try to stick it out, but I declared the day an NWS day this morning, so I stuck with it.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
