Me again :).. Another question.

If you missed breakfast because you were too busy and wouldn't be able to eat until later...
Would you:
Eat your breakfast and lunch closer together. (like 2 hours or so apart (still 2 plates and the same amount of food)

Or put more food onto your lunch plate...

Or just eat lunch...

Bearing in mind this isn't a one off thing, but about half of my week is scheduled in this way. I've tried eating just 2 meals.. But after eating 3 on this system for so long, it makes me feel like I'm depriving myself slightly (even when I increase the amount on those 2 plates.)
Thanks.
Also, do any of you eat your breakfast and lunch relatively close together?

Essentially the issue I have is that my days at Uni tend to leave me with early ("wake up-and-rush" type mornings... then a few hours for free time for a well cooked lunch.. and obviously dinner can be whenever...

I'd go ahead and eat a late breakfast. I suppose that ideally our meals would be spread out a little more throughout the day, but our circumstances aren't always ideal. There's no rule about when meals have to be taken.

My meal times are fairly unpredictable, due to looking after a small baby. I try to do breakfast around 7am, lunch 12:30 and dinner around 7pm, but some days I don't get breakfast sorted until 10am, or dinner is early or late for whatever reason. I just eat the meals a little closer together and don't worry too much about it.

After a few weeks, you'll get used to how hungry you are, and can adjust the contents of your plates accordingly.

For me it depends on which meal I miss but I tend to end up with two meals and a substantial snack when I miss a meal. I listen to hunger rather than worry about timing on days like these.

I rarely eat breakfast so I would definitely just eat lunch and dinner.

I try to have some foods I can take in the car and eat in the morning, if I need to. Some say not to eat in the car but I find it's actually more relaxing to eat when I'm on the freeway than sitting down at home feeling antsy to get going. I have bread with a nut butter and maybe raisins or a piece of fruit. I fold over the bread so it's not something that can spill.

If pressed, it would depend on how hungry I was. Sometimes, I'm not as hungry and then I might have two cups of mocha or milky coffee, decaf if necessary. If hungry, I might still choose something very small so that I would be more likely to be hungry for lunch.

It's a tough call because I like to be hungry for my meals and I'm not if I eat meals close together. Depends on what your priorities are. I would definitely not eat more at the next meal, though, if I didn't get breakfast. Might even eat an especially small lunch if I ate breakfast late.

If I know I am rushed the next morning I prepare a simple take-along mini-breakfast the night before (to eat at a free moment, even in the car) like e.g.
an apple, carrot, celery (maybe with dip, I like store-bought aubergine/guacamole dip in little jars/glasses)
hardboiled egg, a sandwich, nuts, etc.
This way (with a smallish breakfast) I'll be okay in case breakfast and lunch fall close together timewise; I'll be hungry again at lunchtime).

On days when I can sleep in a little I often forego breakfast and have lunch as my first meal of the day, and then dinner as my last meal.

Another (good, I believe) option would be:
breakfast at around 10 am, lunch at around 2 pm and dinner at regular time. I did that sometimes when I was a newbie at NoS.

Go easy. You'll find out what works best for you. :)

I always eat brunch and supper. I read an article a couple years ago about the oldest man in the U.S. that had recently died. I can't remember how old he was, but obviously over 100. When asked why he thought he lived so long, he had told them that he thinks it's because he only ate 2 meals every day of his life and he had said that people ate too often.

Having said what I said above, I'm not typically a breakfast eater. I generally eat lunch and dinner. Occasionally I'll have breakfast type foods for lunch.

If I do eat breakfast, it's usually just toast and some kind of seasonal fruit; usually berries in the summer and citrus in the winter along with coffee. If I happen to be unusually hungry, not a frequent occurrence, I'll add an egg.
