Day 1 :)

Post by Kyky72 » Mon Oct 29, 2012 7:59 am

I have gone well but the evening strikes and all I wanna do is eat.

I know this is my struggle time, just have to fight it. Tell myself I don't snack anymore. I am not really hungry. It is just habit and boredom.

Any tips?

Hiya,

I know I keep saying this but for me 0.5l of hot herbal tea (non-black tea chai or other yogi teas with a bit of whole milk) is a life saver.

It also allows me to establish a ritual and it's natural for me to have it after food and before going to bed. Then brush teeth, then sleep.

As an extra benefit it calmes me down and makes me ready to sleep.

Good luck!

Even if you really are hungry, that's not an emergency, as long as you have a normal metabolism (ask your doctor if you have a condition such as diabetes). You cannot go from overweight to starving to death in 24 hours. If you're hungry, it's going to be slightly unpleasant for a little while. It's not doing any permanent damage to you to feel hungry. It's not making your metabolism slow down so much that you will never be able to lose any weight. There are people who would like for you to think that being hungry is an emergency that you must fix right away- many of them work for companies that sell food. I wonder why a company that sells food might want you to think that, hmmm?

Try finding something to do that will make it difficult to snack. This could be going for a walk, going to the library, or playing a video game that doesn't leave you a hand free for eating. It might just mean spending your time in a room other than the kitchen or dining room.

Soon after dinner I floss and brush my teeth. After that I usually have a peppermint tea.
I also try to go to bed early before I get too hungry.

It doesn't sound like true hunger is your issue. It also sounds like you are doing what you need. You are not really hungry. You just ate a good meal (right?) so you don't need food. If this was your previous habit, you just have to wait it out for the days or weeks it takes to get used to not eating after dinner.

The others have said good things, too. Find a new ritual to replace the snack habit. Accept that it may take longer than you want for it to become solid.

It is worth it!
