* * * the rest of November challenge * * *

Post by ~reneew » Wed Nov 07, 2012 3:00 pm

I challenge you to publicly set a goal for the rest of the month!
This is for anybody who needs encouragement and daily accountability. Think of this as your own little cheering section.

- post your progress once at the top with your goal and edit that first post all month. It's easier to skim-read and find each other. Accountability helps!
- please re-read that last one, some people don't get it.
- after a couple days we can post encouragements and support at the bottom.
- anyone can start whenever through out the month. The more ~ the merrier!
- good luck and have fun with it!

I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.

22- :wink:S for Thanksgiving... maybe I'll give myself one s instead of snitching/thirds/desert/leftover nibbles. Hmmm... I'll think about it.
23- Just color me red and delete the rest of the month? Ug. NOT doin' so good.
24- S (like I deserve that S)
25- S
26- but really? I believe I failed my goal for the month...
27- I did come up with a plan for my holiday treat problem... writen on my "daily"

I'm in! My goals will be slightly different, because I'm trying to take baby steps to get my eating back on track. Goal 1: No eating after dinner. Goal 2: One sweet with a meal, and that's it.

11/9 First day. Fail.
11/10 Success! :D
11/11 Success! :D
11/12 Fail It was just a crazy day. I'm not going to be too hard on myself about it. I will get back on track tomorrow.
11/13 Success, but a qualified one, that's why I used a different shade of green. I did meet my goal of not eating after dinner. :D For my one sweet goal, I did have one sweet (a large cookie) iwth lunch, but the cookie was large enough that I should have split it in two. Oh well.
11/14 Half success. I had two sweets today, instead of one. However, I met my goal of not eating after dinner. :D
11/15-11/25 Big fat fails. Thanksgiving weekend has been particularly bad, and I've been feeling slightly sick from it. :( I WILL get back on track tomorrow!
11/26 Success! :D
11/27 Success! :D
11/28 Fail
11/29 Fail :(
11/30 Fail :(

Well, this was not a good month for me. On the positive side, I'm still within the weight range I've been maintaining for awhile, so at least I"m not gaining. However, I need to start losing again.

For those of us showing a tad bit of red... Keep going!!! If it makes you feel better, the title does say "the rest of November" so you COULD legally erase it and start from here... or continue and shoot for greens! We can do it!
I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.

My mod for November has been to eat sweets or snacks on S days only in the company of others. Otherwise, Vanilla. So far, so good.

If I make a list of the days, I just forget to come back and record. I hope I'll remember or someone else will reply just to bump the thread up and send out an email alert.

So far so good. Took an S event lunch today for my anniversary, but otherwise a green day with breakfast and dinner as normal, in fact a little smaller as I'm full after a big lunch.

Hope everyone else is going well in the lead up to the silly season :)

It is the 17th and I'm joining back up.

I had about 10 really good days, then used my mom's visit as an excuse to snack... and snack... and keep snacking...

So, I am going to do pure no S for the rest of the month. A cup of coffee in the morning and a cup of tea in the afternoon are OK for me besides water between meals.

Renee, It's hard to focus on just the people, not the food, but isn't that what you're celebrating? The important people in your life. Anyway we have an opportunity for 2 green days before Thanksgiving. Lets go for it!

Have not kept to my mod completely, but it has helped me feel much more comfortable more of the time on S days.

Had a fail last evening, but it was small.

Got exercise in the last two days.

I started a new thread on the general board today. Couch to 5 K challenge. Check it out if you may be interested in getting off the couch for the next several weeks! (It's easy, and only 3 times a week!)

My HabitCal is looking like Christmas....lots of pretty green and red colors with a splash of yellow. Picking the week of Thanksgiving is a heck of a time to start No "S". Two weeks ago, I didn't even know this diet existed (when the student is ready) so my time is challenging.

I must say that this week was a real motivator. After eating only 3 meals, NO S for a couple of days, I crashed and burned shortly thereafter.

HOWEVER, the red day made me feel ILL. Bleech! Sure, old habits die hard, but first they will make you sick. I ate too much and my body said "what the hell?! Are you trying to kill me?" Today, I'm paying for it. I am hungry between meals and yet I feel a bit "ill" too. It's almost easier to stay No S most of the time and just moderate a little on the yellow days.

I consider myself to be an intelligent person but sometimes I just need to learn the hard way. That's what I get.

Here's my goal for what's left of the month: To go FULL NO S Monday through Friday of this last week in November. AND, to do ONLY ONE deviation from No S on Saturday/Sunday (a snack, a dessert, or one second) but just one for each day.

Water lily I'm feeling a bit ill too after too many Esses this weekend! The beauty of no s is it motivates me to eat sanely during the week when I remember how this feels. Let's go for the green!

I lost one pound on vacation! I ate three meals, seafood and lots of vegetables. I did have seconds, but my second plate was only fruit. I did not eat sweets, but had a few coctails with sugar in the evenings.

Freegirl wow, you did great on your vacation! High fives and kudos to you!

As I wrote in my check in for this challenge, I've been feeling sick from too many treats, also. I will work very hard tomorrow to get back on track.

Oh, yay! :D It's not just me then! Peptol Bismol has become my best friend these days.

Must be something about the body adjusting. Another benefit is that I find myself focusing on healthy meals, rather than obsessing about rice having 5 more carbs or 1 gram of sugar than I should. All that kind of accounting did was make me gain weight.

I've always done best keeping my meals to about 500 cal or less and not eating after dinner (and the No esses, of course).I'm thinking of making stir fry for dinner and NOT worrying about 2 tbsps of my favorite spicy sauce due to the relatively low (but present) sugar content. I ALMOST don't know what to do with myself except start eating like a normal human being. The fresh veggies are actually starting to sound GOOD!!

Waterlilly, I know what you mean! It's nice to be able to focus on the meal as a whole, and to not have to obsess over how many carbs, how many grams of fat, etc... I, too, am craving healthier meals. I've been eating salads for lunch almost every day, but it's by choice! I always feel better, after eating a lot of veggies. Stir fry sounds very good!

Well, I failed miserably over Thanksgiving (week) but am back on track now.

I have to laugh. As I read through here, I see such a variety of "successes" and "fails".
I read of habit cals colored brightly for the holidays, weightloss during a vacation(wow!), lots of pepto bismol, and I was not the only one who had pie for breakfast (though I did it 2 days in a row and cleaned out the tub of coolwhip while I was at it). My point is that if we try our darnedest and start over daily, pick ourselves up and brush off the crubs when we "fail", the habit will eventually take over, we'll move on with our thin lives, and not feel any more guilt. We are all made beautifully after all! :D
My advice? Plan now for the holidays!!!!!!!

Think I should issue another challenge for December??? Let me know what you think please.
I guess this doesn't work unless you actually do it.
Please pray for me

Yes, please, Renee. I think it would help with holiday excesses.

Definitely! This is my first holiday season (we don't do Halloween or Thanksgiving), so I'm keen to both savor and stay sane!

Just two more meals between me and a green month!! So excited :)

Reneew - this challenge has been really helpful. Especially this week, my son has been sick and was up all night Wednesday night. In my exhausted state, I wanted to snack on sweets the next day, and the thought of this challenge thread definitely made a difference.

Fantastic! Congratulations, ironchef, particularly when you've been up with an ill child. I hope he's better soon.
