Newbie saying hi after 3 weeks of NoS

Post by May » Wed Jul 17, 2013 1:15 pm

I have been doing NoS for the last 3 weeks and although I still don't have the habit down. My eating has normalized a bit. I can eat normally with family and friends without avoiding any food group. There is no need to sneak food around. No need to plan what snacks I can or cannot have. I can even enjoy my favorite foods during the weekend.

In fact, this way of eating really reminds me of my late father. He always ate 3 square meals a day. Snacks weren't his thing. Desserts were something that he would eat occasionally. He was never skinny but he was fit. I hope that by eating this way, I can get to a point where food/weight no longer takes the center stage in my life.

Since I have started NoSing, I have been reading the discussion board everyday for encouragement, especially if I feel like I am slipping. I just want to say thank you because sharing your experience and advice is really helpful for newbies like me.

Welcome Annie! This is a very supportive group. This is a wonderful long-term lifestyle that absolutely short-circuits the yoyo mentality and leads to normal eating over time, and peace of mind.

welcome, Annie! I am also new -- my 21 days will be up on Friday. This is a great board, very encouraging. I love your goal of taking food and dieting out of center stage in your life. It sounds like this is the right place for you!

Welcome! I have noticed that this is the way that almost all people who are a healthy weight and have no food issues eat.

Congrats on beginning! Isn't it amazing that we need to have a board like this to encourage each other just to eat sanely! But I'm glad to be here.

Expanding your life beyond food is a worthy goal. I'm still working on it, but the food habit is pretty solid. It's worth the effort!

Thanks for the warm welcome. This is a place I wish to stay.

Not a green day. I had a sweet at lunch and seconds at dinner. I won't let this spill over to tomorrow. It's just one more day until Saturday, just have to hold on a little longer, then I can relax a little.

My weight changes so much in just a few days (+/- 3 lbs). I am trying not to concentrate on the number from the scale. It can be really discouraging.

Annie, if it's any consolation, the changing number on the scale is about the fluctuations in water in your body, not fat. There really is very little sense in the majority of people trying to manipulate their water content. No healthy, long-lived population has ever done so.

Discrete meals greatly enjoyed, and life in between. That's where the goodies are.
