I was wondering if I could hear some success stories or "in progress" stories from those who don't have a whole lot to lose. I only have about 20 to lose, and I am interested in how long it might take to get down. Thanks!

I will be following this post. I am a beginner and need to lose a little less than 20 pounds. Seems doable, but not if you keep gaining and losing the same 5 pounds... Like I have been doing lately.:(

Sadly I'm in the same boat--losing an putting on the same 2/3/4 kilos (particularly since I became pregnant & had my son 5 years ago). Basically after that i haven't really lost a serious amount of weight. I yo-yo continuously with just a few kilos.

All in all, I too want to lose about 10-15 kilos (which is 20-30 pounds more or less).

Have you both being doing No S for a while? I've only just started on Thursday, and went off Friday night to enjoy sweets early! Ugh! :) Oh well...I'm just hoping I don't gain any this week, since I'm coming off a low carb diet (that I didn't follow very strictly).

I am finishing my second week. I have not gained any weight. I have actually lost a couple of pounds. I did better when I made time to exercise. I am also getting a handle on my 3 meals. During the first week I would be famished by the time a meal rolled along and I would go a bit crazy. Now the novelty of eating whatever I want at mealtime has dwindled. For the most part I eat fairly healthy. However my weight issues are definitely due to snacking (sweet, salty, edible not too picky) and seconds. By omitting those two evils, I have cut my calorie intake drastically. Also, I am now drinking a lot more water. I have a glass of water if I am starting to feel hungry. Learning to embrace the hunger. :)

Hi there. I started with a goal to lose 12 pounds. I am down about 4 after 3 months. I am very pleased at this slow rate of loss (prevents yo-yoing, in my opinion) but my friends tease me and call me "the patient dieter". I just smile.

Hi alice2002,

I've lost about 26 pounds in about a year and am not planning on losing any more, really. It takes time and there were a couple of plateaus that I found frustrating but then I remembered that maintainance is also progress and I just stuck to NoS without over-analysing what I ate and sure it went down again.

I find my biggest challenge was patience but if you just stick to it you find that 6months or a year go by very fast and then you realise that you lost all that weight. It creeps down the same way it kept creeping up in my 20s - slowly but surely.

And the best part is that I now feel completely free around food, I used to binge and had a lot of emotional eating issues which I all faced through NoS and I finally found freedom to enjoy food and life and let go of a little of my perfectionism. I had some phases with red days - just mark it and move on. But it's all about patience.

Good luck!
