Thoughts on weighing every day or once a week? What has worked or not worked for you?

Donna, I weigh weekly at the end of the week. I associate daily weighing with dieting and it can get a little obsessive for me, so I avoid it. Some people don't weigh at all on principle -- others weigh daily and post their weight. It comes down to what is most motivating for you!

I weigh whenever I go to the doctor's office -- usually once a year. Seriously.

Weighing everyday is associated with more weight loss and keeping it off longer in clinical studies. I posted a bunch of links here

For me, I have to weigh everyday. Studies show that people who weigh everyday lose more weight and keep it off longer.

I enter my weights into Happy Scale app which figures a running moving average for that day. That way it keeps the weight leveled out and you can see exactly where you are and where you have been a month ago, a day ago, a week ago, ect.
Its free too so that's good!

Im sure there are exceptions to the rule, as always with everything, Oolala, some people say they get along better not weighing Very Happy Each person can make the choice best for them!

Sorry, but the studies are a drop in the bucket compared with the practice of most slim cultures in the world. They don't weigh, but they also prize not overeating, and are rather consistent in their meal sizes.

However, if you're going to weigh, and not freak out about it, I vote for every day and averaging once a week or a running average.

I weigh for one week at a time, four times a year, at the change of the seasons, but I did weigh more in the beginning.

So it has been a month. Down 5 pounds. I am happy about that. I have learned that I don't need to weigh myself every day, but I do need to do it a couple of times a week. I tend to fall into a false sense of skinny until reality hits... A photo, jeans are suddenly a bit snug, or I make the mistake and look at my behind in the mirror. Weighing a few times a week keeps it real for me. Live and learn. :)

Good work, Donna! It sounds like you have found the happy medium in weighing in as well. Congrats!
