Once more, with feeling!

Post by good enough » Mon Jan 13, 2014 10:05 pm

I've tried No S a couple of times before but didn't last more than a few days (those dratted snacks!). The thing is, I keep coming back to it because it strikes me as such a remarkably sane and sustainable way to eat.

I think a 'clean' 21 days will be key, so this time I've made a commitment to do just that. Today was my first green N day! I've written a blog post about NoS and will be updating with my progress. Will also be checking in here. This is important enough to me to stick to it. And I will!

PS My blog about NoS is here if anyone would like to read it: http://betterthanfine.net/2014/01/13/the-no-s-diet/ (hope it's ok that I posted the link here!).

Welcome and best wishes to you! If accountability is helpful for you, you might want to start a check-in thread on the Daily Check In forum here. Some post daily; others post less frequently.

Thank you so much for your warm welcomes and kind words! I do feel that it's different this time. It's like something in my head has 'clicked'. I am considering starting a check-in thread but I'm a bit wary of setting myself up for too much with this and the blog as well. Anyway, I will update at the end of the 21 days for sure if not before!

Thanks again.

I'm convinced that failures serve the purpose of eventually leading to calm commitment. Then No S doesn't exactly become a breeze every minute, but it's not the same as when you're feeling that inner rebellion.

Welcome back. I started and stopped multiple times. Now it's over a year.

Still learning every day, but never do I learn so much as I do from failures. Failures are awesome. But only if you get back up and USE the lessons.

Thanks for sharing the blog.

So do tell me how you make this Swiss bircher! I just looked it up cuz I had no idea what it was :). The recipes I've found include a little oats, nuts, and apple with some sweetened condensed milk and lemon juice or milk with a little sugar or yogurt. Is this right?

Welcome!

Thank you all so much!

Day 6 today and I'm still all *GREEN*! wOOP!

automatedeating - Thank you, I definitely will!

oolala53 - I think (and hope) that you're right. It already feels easier. Maybe because I've committed to the 21 days, so my mind knows there's no point in arguing!

finallyfull - I completely agree about learning lessons. Thank you so much!

tobiasmom - Thanks for the welcome! The basic recipe for Swiss bircher is this: http://mylittlegourmet.com/breakfast/bircher-muesli/ but you can adapt it pretty much infinitely to suit your tastes. I've had it every morning this week and genuinely not felt hungry till lunch!
