Invention of snacking

Post by rivierliedje » Sun Jan 19, 2014 12:32 pm

I was watching this documentary: The men who made us fat (and it's sequal, the men who made us thin). The whole thing is interesting, but in this first part at around minute 25 they start talking about snacking and how it became the norm via advertising: http://youtu.be/E6nGlLUBkOQ

Another interesing show about food habits is te supersizers go... and the supersizers eat... In in two people eat and live the life of a certain decade for a week and get medically tested before and afterwards. The forties (in the UK on rationaing) won hands down for health. Tey also did the fifties, twenties, seventies, eighties and a variety of older centuries.
Anyway I'm new, starting formally with strict no s tomorrow, it seems like such a good and simple idea, though not neccessarely easy.

Yes, invented snacking. That's for sure. My days are so much simpler without snacks. And my kids eat real meals now!

Welcome, rivierliedje! As they say, follow the money -- snacking is big business! But we don't have to buy into it. My life is much calmer without snacking and even on S days, my occasional snacks are usually food now, instead of things manufactured specifically for snacking.

Good luck with No S!

The same people made "The Men Who Made Us Thin". Equally great.
