Rough few days (well 7 to be exact)

Post by NoSnacker » Thu Feb 27, 2014 11:59 am

What a rough few days...say it isn't soooooo....reds for 6 days in the row, not because I had a snack, etc. but because I have been binging...like all that I learned I totally ignored about my thoughts....and how to manage them and not give in to a binge..

So starting today, I'm going to try to get my mojo back!

Yik!!

p.s. I had over 12 weeks of green

Over 12 weeks of green is fantastic NoSnacker! Well done. And a week of bingeing - well, it's the minority when it used to be the norm.

I had a rough week last week and am back to all green so far this week - just shows that on NoS you're just one plate away from success :)

seems like a lot of us had a rough time lately. I have an S day coming up starting tonight, and although I didn't do perfectly this week, I know I need to take my S day as is. We need to let the structure of NoS carry us through the hardest tiimes. You can do it, you did it before!

I like to think it was part of your "curriculum." So that two years from now you can tell everyone "oh yeah, I had a seven day binge at one point. But I didn't let it derail me."

Sometimes we have to have a tantrum to remind us of why we are doing this. I'm sure your seven days were a great visit to a place you don't want to be. That in itself might be good tuition in the school of life.

It happens. We can't be perfect forever. It's just not possible.

Be kind to yourself. Dust off and move on.

Late winter/early spring is tough. Seriously. Last year I crashed and burned hard. For several months.

This year, I've gone into February knowing I'm vulnerable. I figure it will last until May or so, till it warms up and I can get outside for long stretches.

While I know that it's not fun to post about a string of red days, it really does help others of us (namely, ME!) who are having/have had similar struggles, so thanks for sharing!

I had three perfect months and then wobbling when I first started. Once that binge habit gets reignited, it can take some real effort to turn the ship around. Don't panic! On Monday, just get from meal to meal. And after dinner, the kitchen is closed!

My 7 days has turned to almost 3 weeks now. I was standing at the kitchen sink this morning thinking how badly I feel and how can I let this happen yet again...

So hoping for a clean slate today....

Thanks everyone...

Keep telling yourself, "It's worth it to wait to eat!" No matter what other thought or urge comes up. "Yes, that might have some truth in it, but it's MORE worth it to wait to eat!" And "THIS is the moment I have to say no. I can make it another few hours."

Another one: the kitchen is closed!
Another one: random food is not my friend!

At least, these have helped me. And reviewing a written list of reasons I want to eat moderately and regularly, not irregularly. Every day, when I'm struggling.

You deserve the peace and pleasure of meal-based eating. Don't deny yourself this.

Life is good enough at just about every moment without overeating, even the tough moments.

My rough week turned into two rough months. I am doing better since the first of March and hope the same will happen for you!

hey NoSnacker, r.jean, we're all pulling for you!

I had a crappy week last week, followed by a disappointing weekend, so I empathise at the moment.

A week, or even a month, may seem overwhelming while we're living it, but in the grand scheme of eating moderately for the rest of our lives it's just a blip. I need to keep reminding myself of this!

St Paddy's day is coming up, so green is in fashion :)

What's happening? It's not a crime to overeat. Keep us in the loop! Everyone here is on your side.

i have definitely had that happen. it's when i'm doing well and i have the first day of bingeing that it seems to go on for several days. mainly it is just my mindset. that's where the idea of "mark it and move on" comes from. i think what that means in greater detail is "don't obsess about it, don't act like it is the end of the world. accept it peacefully and don't berate yourself and move on." because we all will have those times we overeat. just move on from this and don't be hard on yourself. so it happened. it has happened to most of us here. the 12 weeks of green is fabulous! one thing that really helped me is to not get so focused on the details. it was easy at first to obsess over "omg this has to be a green day, what if i screw up" and then over time as i started to chill out about it and just have my 3 meals with no drama i got better and better at having green days . i also stopped counting them as green/red and it had the opposite effect as what you would think. i got better at sticking to NoS because I knew it was going to be a green day i just didn't count it. i had my mindset that i would make it a green but didn't let the diet mode/obsessiveness take over. i hope that helps you... it takes time to get used to NoS but I have been loving it for over a year. Definitely had my "binge" weeks though for sure. Now moderation is a lot easier but there are certainly times I want to eat a lot.
