a bit of a testimony

Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays. Baffled? Intrigued? Charmed? Discuss here.

a bit of a testimony

Post by oolala53 » Sat Oct 01, 2016 2:57 pm

I"m still very sporadic with Shovelglove (or my version of vigor) and Urban Ranger, if that's okay to talk about here, but I give both some credit for the fact that the day before my 63rd birthday, I was able to put in nearly 14 miles on trails, some of them rather steep, in Sequoia National Park last Sunday. It's likely having lost 40 lbs. on No S helped, though I was a decent walker back when I was in the low obese range, too.

I'll cross post this a few places.

Beautiful! So happy to hear this. No better "metric" than being able to enjoy experiences like this.

Just in case some new person comes to check things out, I'll add that I've been doing enough walking and short Shovelglove-like workouts for long enough now that the other day when I was trying to get to my sunrise viewing point in a bit of a hurry, I ended up being able to jog the whole way instead of the block or two I expected to. I don't intend to become a runner, but it was a change from about six months ago.
