Recording Shovelglove activity on online sites (FitDay)

Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays. Baffled? Intrigued? Charmed? Discuss here.

Recording Shovelglove activity on online sites (FitDay)

Post by BelfastBloke » Fri Feb 26, 2010 2:35 pm

The only thing I record on FitDay is my weight, but the site has sections for measuring & customising all activities and all foods.

Shovelglove is not listed there - anyone know what's the best way to record things like this?

Presumably it's a customised reference, depending on the weight of the shovelglove? But if you're doing all the canonical moves, how would you refer to it, to get an accurate record of calories burned, or whatever?

At a rough guess - chopping wood might come close.

Looks like they have a bunch of moves

Shoveling, Moderate

And:

Steel Mill -- tending furnace (stoke oven)

No idea how scientific their methodology is (or how accurately the shovelglove moves calorically map to their real world counterparts).
