14 minutes tidy-up system

i have come up with this everyday system today inspired by 14 minutes of any exercise... time or space limit to my cleaning/decluttering always worked fine for me but i have never had a consistent system... habitcal is a great tool for it, it seems...
it can develop in a form of decluttering system but sometimes all i want and need to do is to tidy up... pick up toys, broom, pick up clothes, clear out counters and tables, dust, water the plants, put the displaced stuff lying around in their place... simple as that...
all types of non-sedentary house chores are allowed except for washing the dishes because they fall into something that takes up too much of the 14 minutes and is normally done on a daily basis, anyway...
this is for working days because bigger cleaning actions fall on weekends for me... but im thinking that in this way my weekends might become more S, too...
i wanted to share this idea to inspire and/or find out what you think of it...[/b]

8 days into it - it is working magnificently!!

my home looks like i have a maid! :D

also, i have noticed it is complementary with stopping calorie counting and starting the nos diet - it liberated so much mental energy and 14min tidy up system has nicely filled the place... :)

i have to say - i dont always stop when the alarm goes off - i get motivated to do more work and then, in my head, i count it as "normal" work, just making a mental note for myself to remember that what matters is 14 min... anything extra is optional...
- tidying up does turn into mini decluttering sessions, a drawer here, corner there... super...

im enjoying my home so much more...
oh, and my son gets in it with me sometines (i explained to him what im doing), he sees it as a game im playing... :D

I may have to do this too. Great idea. I am not a huge fan of housework. I usually work in spurts. I will get a surge of energy/motivation to clean. But then I will go weeks without doing it (other than daily things like laundry and dishes and cleaning the bathrooms). It would probably be good if I did do a little dusting , mopping, decluttering daily. I think I will give it a go.

ok, update!
i have to say that i couldnt actually longterm comply with this system UNTIL i decluttered my home completely!

but then, when i did, it actually comes naturally to do at least 14min. every day... and often there is not much more to do because now it is so easy to put away things in their place... and there really is joy in it... if i wasnt moving in a month i'd have so little to do around house due to decluttering and downsizing...

i wouldnt even notice this system if i hadn't set up a habitcal for it next to "noS" and "exercise" called "14min. tidy"... it didnt really work so later i used it to keep track of the decluttering process and now just continued to put green squares...
i am not limiting it to 14 min. and i dont put my timer on any more since tidying doesnt bring me anxiety any more (sincei was around 2/3 into the complete declutter)... but i keep track of it just for the curiosity... because that is so not me... it used to be something i disliked so much...

I like the "not including dishes" clause. I've always functioned better with tidying for a time limit rather than trying to keep extensive lists or note cards or other systems for cleaning, but it's easy to focus on dishes/kitchen and not get as many other things done--and you're right, I'd do those anyway.

I think my only reservation about doing this one for myself (and I do plan to try it, either from the fifteenth or from the first of february) is I still need a solid list of chores I need to do daily and weekly that, as you say, I would do anyway, because though I do mine eventually, I regret to say with my depression and my grandmother's conflicting expectations, I don't really keep up with it.

I'm thinking of backing up and instead of doing the tidying part for my first, getting my list of plain daily chores first and using audiodidact to get myself doing them
