Just found this thread, and looked up this book was able to download it free onto my iPad. My twelve year old found it hilarious!
I still read to all my kids. They range in ages 12-2. Some of their favorite read alouds are D'aulaire's Book of Trolls, and the Blue Fairy Book which is a collection of fairy tales told in the non pc version lots of fun and a bit less grim :D .

I had this book as a child.

If you read my posts, you'll observe that it had an effect on my adult life.

See, for instance, my references to eating human fingers.

My wife has since relented.

I found an English translation and my three year old especially loves it.

Whenever I see her picking her nose (alas, too frequently) I make a little scissor gesture and say "snip, snip, snip!"
