Sammybunny's Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Well, four years later, good to hear from you! Honestly, I know people keep saying it's great houw you can modify No S for your own purposes, and all the exceptions here still represent exceptions to the rule. The odds of being a successful exception are pretty low. Otherwise, they wouldn't be exceptions. I think what makes it individual is more what we each put ON our plates. Just my opinion.
Count plates, not calories. 11 years "during"
Age 69
BMI Jan/10-30.8
1/12-26.8 3/13-24.9 +/- 8-lb. 3 yrs
9/17 22.8 (flux) 3/18 22.2
2 yrs flux 6/20 22
1/21-23

There is no S better than Vanilla No S (mods now as a senior citizen)

WOW...I have no idea what happened to my thread. All my original posts say *deleted by original poster* and I'm not sure what happened. Anyhoo. I'm back and determined to stick with No S this time around. I have enjoyed reading through all of the bulletin board posts and feel motivated and charged up to succeed.

I am, unfortunately, at my highest weight ever. I have gained 30 pounds since March 2019 (NOT A GOOD THING) and I have got to get back to a healthy weight. The BMI now says I'm obese. That being said, I am not in a hurry. I want the slow and steady wins the race sort of deal. Planning to track with HabitCal.

My plan: No S (strict, vanilla) + Exercise 30 min daily (walking, stationary bike, zumba)

Good to be back.

Totally failed at my projected N day. In a major depressive episode at the moment (I have bipolar II disorder) and just ate to fill the void. Tomorrow will be better. Did manage 2 short walks today, though. That's a win.

Welcome back Sammybunny! I’m right there with you. Joined in 2013 and have never stayed on no s for more than a day or two, always lured off by the flashy promises of other diets. Ready to commit to the sanity of no s! We can do this!!

Welcome back! I keep wandering in and out myself. Maybe this is it for both of us.
