Pinkhippies daily check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

So true auto! And lately that feels like every day. :)

Today was busy as usual. At least the busyness is becoming routine and uneventful busyness.

My 17 year old shaved her head today. I think she is really taking advantage of getting to stay home and experimenting with her look. She had dyed her hair black a few months ago, so its nice to see her strawberry fuzz again. Like she is a baby all over again. :D

9/30/2020

B: kashi cinnamon harvest biscuit cereal
So with cereal I always measure out one serving because cereal is easy to overdo it on, and usually one serving fills me up just fine. The serving size of this cereal? 31 biscuits. Seriously? they expect you to count out 31 biscuits every day? I did it once into a measuring cup and it came to about a cup, so good enough for me.

L: 1 turkey and cheese sandwich, some grapes and some pretzels

D: beef and broccoli with rice
Did I mention I taught my 11 year old to make her own cheese quesadillas? Now if I make something she doesn't like, she can make her and her sister quesadillas. So nice for me to not have to deal with anymore.

I am not going to put exercise as a category anymore on weekdays. Sigh...

Hi! Sounds like you are in a very, very busy season of life! You are handling all the challenges well, and I'm glad you're getting settled into a routine. Sometimes exercise just has to go by the wayside for a bit. It will move back into the place you want it to be before too long I'm sure. I'm like you with cereal. Needs to be measured! Yay for you for teaching your daughter to make her own grilled cheese! More freedom for you, and good for her to know how to make some basic things. Great job juggling so many balls PH!

I have had lots of time where I've removed categories for a season. The thread works for us; we don't work for it. :-)

I bet your daughter's strawberry fuzz is so cute!

Thank you Alene!

yes this semester has been a challenge, but I feel like I am starting to get the hang of things. (knock on wood 1,00 times)

So true auto! I don't work for the thread! Thank you for the reminder. And yes, DD17 looks adorable! ( At least I think so, apparently her dad isn't a fan)

Today ended up being really good because I think I figured out when I can get a bike ride in. During my 11 year olds virtual band class, she goes to her room and has another teacher engaging her. My 8 year old doesn't typically need help during that time. So I am going to try to ride on Monday and Thursdays when 11 yo DD has band.

So today I got a stationary bike ride in and I felt AMAZING when I was done. Taking a week off seems to have made me stronger and I was able to do much higher resistance for much longer. It just felt so good to be moving and working my body again. And my mood was so much better too. I felt able to handle things much better. I need to remember that for the future.

B: 31 biscuits of kashi harvest. :D, coffee, banana, milk

L: 1 can of lentil vegetable soup, 1 piece of cheese toast, some grapes
reached my natural stopping point before I finished all this and I was aware. It was nice. Been awhile since that has happened. I suddenly reached the point where I was done.

D: 2 servings of baked ravioli, 1 piece of french bread, some frozen fruit

I have been trying a technique of doing some relaxing breathing before I eat and also telling myself I can eat until I am full.

I notice that when I remember to do this, I am more aware of my hunger and fullness. I just started this, and forgot to do it for dinner. I am going to keep working on it.

30 min stationary bike ride today! :)

Inspiring stuff! And it’s so true that a little time off can build our strength...it’s the one thing we sometimes forget. I love this feeling of fortification that can come from a good exercise session. It’s something I also need to remember!

Loving hearing about the adorable fuzzy hair of your DD...the memories of babyhood! So cute!

Exercise is the best & I love that you took time off & felt even better for it. It think it can be easy to feel guilty for rest when it’s actually really good for a person too!!

Thanks Octavia, Linda and Jen!

I definitely think taking time off can sometimes be just as good as exercise. It's hard to remember that though.

I have been busy! We did a 17 mile ride on the weekend. I wanted to do more, but we started out late and ran out of time.

The past couple of days I have been extra hungry and I have just been eating until I feel full and satisfied. Today, I woke up and that hunger was gone.

I really think its cycle related. I seem to be hungrier on day 1 and 2. It felt really good to just eat and not worry about it or try to fight against that hunger though. Wow.

Everything is going well, I just have been really busy with schoolwork, internship and the kids. I am in week 6 of the semester and I am literally counting them down!

Your bike rides are impressive. I've been following the Mundabiddi Ultra Marathon the last several days in Aus. It covers 1040 Km. on mostly dirt and gravel roads. No support team, you basically camp on the trail, carry your food. Here's a map showing progress of riders. Several have finished. Two lady riders are at marker 851 Km. When you zoom into map, you can actually see their gps markers showing them moving on the trail. One of my other forum members, Didge fin. 6th at 53 years old. Amazing feat by everyone. p.s. lady riders are wolfchaser and mad dog

I’ve been the same way, having more on hungrier days, & I’m like that too, hungrier the first few days of my cycle!! It feels good to just honor the extra hunger!! I’m usually slightly disappointed when it’s gone though because I love having room for more

Hi PH! Sounds like you're doing well and motoring along. I used to get much hungrier about the same time of month when I had my cycles. It's real!! So nice to be able to listen to your body and eat to satiety instead of trying to force it into what you think it should be. I hope you're having a nice weekend.

Thanks whos! I kind of fell out of long bike rides with this annoying toe infection I got but I am hoping to get back on it. That ultra marathon looks serious!

I am glad to know that I am not the only one that experiences that cyclical hunger.

I have been busy.

Life got a little crazy with school and kids. This is my fall break this week. I get two days off but still need to do my internship hours.

I got this annoying and actulaly inasanely painful toenail cuticle infection... paronychia. I tried really hard to do all the home remedies for several weeks but I finally went to the dr on Friday got started on antibiotics . Its finally getting better. It made bike riding too painful for a while. I managed to go on a 10 mile ride yesterday and I was happy about that.

Eating has been... ehh. I have been blurring the lines between meals with pre meal making picking and calling it virtual plating. I need to really stop that and get back to nothing in my mouth until I am sitting down at the table. It is one of my biggest eating habits that has been hard to replace. Today I had a cookie just because I felt like it, and I know its because I haven't been adhering to the habits so it was easier to break another habit.

My weight has been holding steady between 151-153 but I haven't been as strict to the habits. This week I have to take my abx with food so I have to eat at like 9 o'clock as well as my 3 meals a day. I am going to be glad when I don't have to do that anymore.

October 19 2020

B: bowl of granola with blueberries, milk and coffee,

L: half a of chicken sandwich, a few fries and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup with one reeses cookie

D: plan for barbecue kielbasa with rice, cornbread and green beans

9pm- Not sure yet

Exercise: 20 minute walk

Thank you Jen! Yeah, I don't know about things calming down, but a routine is definitely helpful and hopefully will happen soon!

Thank you Alene! I really appreciate your words of encouragement. It's just what I needed to hear today.

Today I am determined to have a successful vanilla No S day.

I need to check in here even if I get busy just to at least write down my meals. I find that to be so helpful and yes it was stressful the past two weeks but I also wasn't checking in. It's easy to let the habits slide.

So today:

B: Bowl of Rice pudding made from last nights rice with coffee and milk

L: 1 big bowl of chicken tortilla soup with 1 piece of buttered, cornbread, a ramekin of yogurt and half an apple
I didn't eat any of this until it was all on my plate. I ate to pleasant satisfaction and was surprised that I needed all that food.

D: 2 soft chicken tacos

Decaf coffee with cream

ABX snack: 1 piece of peanut butter toast on whole grain bread

I tried to eat a little less dinner than normal because I knew I had to eat at 9 pm or so. I felt hungry so I had some coffee with cream between dinner and snack. It worked pretty well.

Exercise:

30 minute bike ride stationary. Toe felt pretty good!

Wow - that toe infection sounds frustrating, painful, and inconvenient! Not sure if the abx are topical? I hope so, but if not, don't forget to up your probiotics or fermented foods for awhile! Yes, yes, Auto here to bug you about your intake of good bugs. :-)

Hang in there with the wild schedule and difficulty getting really in the routine/eating patterns you want. This will pass and you'll be right back on track.

Hi auto! I have topical AND oral abx. I always go out of my way to try to heal without abx but I couldn't do it this time. I started probiotics the day that I started taking them, thank you for the reminder! I don't want to obliterate all the good bugs without replacing them. And I have been eating yogurt and I will keep doing probiotics even after I am done with abx.

Yesterday I did excellently. I did not put anything in my mouth unless I was sitting down at the table and it was on my plate. I hope to have the same kind of success today.

B: 1 bowl of rice pudding

L: 3 soft chicken tacos, 1/2 an apple, some shredded chicken with sour cream, and avocado

D: 1 bowl of baked potato soup, 1 piece of bread with butter

ABX snack ramekin of trail mix

Hungryish again after dinner but want to hold off because of my night snack. I think this is my second to last night for antibiotics. I was proud of myself for having only one helping of the soup. I wasn't hungry, but I have gotten more into the habit of seconds for dinner.

Eggs in a hat is a desperation I ran out of food dinner! But it was good. My mom used to make it for me.

Octavia, it is just a piece of bread buttered on both sides with a circle cut out of the middle. Then you put it in a frying pan or skillet and crack an egg right into the hole. Meanwhile, you also fry the cut-out piece of bread. After your egg whites solidify you flip it, cook the egg part to your liking, and then voila! YOu put the toasted bread on the egg part. Like a hat. I think other people call it something else...

This recipe is for "egg in a hole" same thing and egg in a hat sounds much better to me. :)
https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree ... pe-1925587

I make a variation for my younger girls using scrambled eggs instead of a fried egg.

Jen, yes this is a hard one for me. Yesterday I ended up seconds at dinner. Today I made sure to give myself enough lunch.

FRIDAY YAY! I made it through another week! I am excited for the weekend. We are having actual cold weather here and my toe is feeling much better so I think we will go for a family hike tommorow.

B: 1 bowl of granola with blue berries and milk, coffee

L: big bowl of baked potato soup with cheese and green onions, 1 piece of buttered toast

D: plan for nuggets, a wedge of brownie and vanilla ice cream

Stayed in today and snuggled in the warmth. No exercise.

Thanks for the egg recipe! I think my DD has made this, in her eggsperimenting days! It used to look very nice. Actually I’m quite proud of her for being able to cook. Her new housemates just do frozen food, but she knows how to do various pasta and stir fry meals, plus eggs in lots of different ways. There was a funny day last week when she video called us, so we could inspect the pieces of chicken in her stir fry dinner and reassure her that they were cooked through. So hilarious, the wobbly fork being held up to the camera and me going ‘turn it around...yes...looks good...’ She had heard that if you eat a piece of slightly pink chicken, you DIE!

hahah I love that story about your DD Octavia! That is great! Ahh modern technology. That is great that she can cook! I have started giving my 11 year old cooking lessons because she wants to learn, unlike my 17 year old.

Today was a good day. Our family ended up doing about a 4 mile hike. My toe started hurting near the end. It's still healing but it was great to be able to get out there and walk.

Also saw my dad for the first time in a month and his wife is doing a lot better. Not all the way better but better so that made me very happy.

B: Granola with milk, coffee

L: Fried egg sandwich

D: 3 pieces Greek pizza, one huge buttery cinnamon stick with icing

Exercise:

4 mile hike about 13k steps total for the day.

Love the chicken story Octavia and eggs in a hat sound great.

I always give something the ouch test if I'm not sure it's cooked, if it looks cooked, cut in half, if not pink, touch it with a clean finger and if it is hot "ouch" it's cooked. :)

The ouch test is a nice way to do it Soprano!

Jen Oh yes, I know just what you mean about complaining. When we first started these hikes we started in the summer and it was A LOT Of complaining about how hot they were, and how much their legs hurt. Glad to know we don't have the only complainy hiking kids. I think the kids are starting to get a little better about it. It probably helped also that it was 43 degrees! At first the kids were complaining about being too cold and we just said "move faster, it will warm you up!" LOL

Today I found out my third grader is reading at the second-grade level. I knew she hates to read but I didn't realize she was having such a hard time. So I started reading aloud a chapter book after lunch, (Roald Dah's The BFG) and I am going to try to implement some kind of reading time every day where we read a book together and I help her. We will see how it goes. She loves listening to stories. She has a longer attention span listening to stories than any of my other kids. If only I could translate that to her reading that way on her own.

Pinkie - I just want to encourage you about your little reader. :-)

Challenger couldn't even read until the END of 2nd grade! I'm serious! I spent all of kindergarten just trying to get that little stinker to hold his pencil properly. But oh how he listened! We read the Hobbit when he was 7, and finished all of the Harry Potters by the time he was 10. Creator learned to read effortlessly at a young age, but he still struggles (at 11) to focus on the story and rarely recalls details.

I want you to know that reading comprehension is where it's at. That is how your sweet little girl will get ahead. The critical thinking that comes by listening to reading that is beyond her current independent reading level is true education. Don't worry - her reading mechanics will catch up. Current education is so terrified about reading that they jam it down kids' throats before many of them are anywhere near developmentally ready to really decode.

I'm so happy you're going to read to her! Read, read, read to her! If there is ONE thing that makes a long-term difference in children's outcomes, it's reading out loud to your children. You go girl! You got this! This is a fun year to have time to read out loud with your kids more than during a normal school year.

I echo Autos points re reading. I worried about my son's ability when he first started learning to read, he soon caught up and started to devour books.

He loves reading still at 26. Keep it fun not a chore. :)

Auto, thank you so much for your encouraging words regarding reading. That really helps so much. I am going to keep reading to her. I was helping her read a book out loud today and she said something like" this is really long but I want to keep reading because it's interesting." I am making reading aloud a priority. You are right, teachers do seem to jam it down kids throats.

Soprano, thank you too. That is very encouraging to hear about your son.

I realize I need to spend more time with my 3rd grader as well. She just needs more engagement and more supervision. I have made her a priority and am trying to fit my stuff in where I can for now. She needs the help and I would like her to get to fourth grade! Her report card was pretty harsh.

Yesterday was a bit busy and today is too I guess.

So a funny thing happened today. I mean not really funny. More like oh you crazy universe you! I was wrestling a large box of our food delivery into the house and I guess I was in a hurry because it was raining. Somehow, I REALLY hurt my back. I have a bit of a weak spot in my back that I originally injured when I was 18 working as a tech at Jiffy Lube, and then again working as a hostess at TGI Fridays in my 30's. I was immediately unable to walk or stand up or even crawl. I had to lay on the floor and have my children bring me ice and advil. I was just laying there laughing at the ridiculousness of it all so I don't THINK the kids were too alarmed. My 17 year old has been very helpful. Of course today was the day I stripped all the bedding and dumped a huge pile of clothes in the hallway to be sorted and all that.. now the kids have to do it all. :)

Anyway, a few hours later I managed to get a back brace on which lets me walk with less pain so it's manageable but bending over is impossible. Luckily I have all my kids here to help me. And, I got in my 30 minutes of elliptical before disaster struck. And, my husband is bringing home dinner so I don't have to cook or do dishes! Yay!

B: granola with coffee and banana

L: pulled pork sandwiches with bbq and broccoli, 1 small package of DOTS

D: takeout from somewhere

Exercise:

30 minutes elliptical

"S"-ing out - that should be a tried and true phrase on our threads. :-)
But I totally get that....the times I feel the most physically unwell correspond to the times that I feel the need to indulge more. I'm pretty sure it's a mood-lifting-seeking behavior for myself.

Hah yes S ing out is definitely a thing!

Thank you Jen, Alene, Soprano and Octavia!

Alene, yes I injured my back when I was 18 and it flared up again when I was 32ish. I went to a chiropractor for a while back then and it seemed to help. I didn't injure myself again until last week.

I am feeling much better today. Laying around and letting my husband do virtually everything for me was very helpful! Unfortunately, my toe infection has not quite been kicked and it still hurts to walk a bit, so I went back to the Dr. today and they told me if this next round of abx doesn't' do it, they will have to remove the nail. ARGH. The Dr. said to avoid sugar since bacteria love it, so its nice to have that extra motivation to get back to No S. However, I'm thinking I should probably go more low carb as well? I know I have read that your body turns carbs into sugar. So.. that will be hard.

B: muesli with berries and milk

L: spinach and mozzarella omlette

D: A big bowl of buttered spinach, several meatballs and a handful of pecans
Well, I did the best I could with the low carb thing on short notice. It wasn't too bad. But, I wouldn't do it for any other reason for health.

Exercise: between the toe and the back... just limping around

Hope your toe recovers without removal of the nail.

Yes carbs are like eating sugar, cutting rice pasta and bread may help.

It will help Weight loss too I suspect :)

Thanks Soprano! I hope so too.

Last night I had a handful of pecans with my antibiotic and it seemed to be fine. I am feeling extremely unmotivated to do anything today. I skipped my bike ride because of my back. It's almost better but I have to be so careful with it right now. I might test out a ride on Thursday.

B: scrambled eggs with cheese, half a cup of berries, coffee with cream

L: a lot of meatballs, a 10 oz steamed bag of broccoli with butter and feta
Pretty good but I needed to eat a lot to feel satisfied without my usual carby fare.

D: green chili chicken 2 pieces

abx snack handful of pecans

Oh My Pink! I wanted to check in on your thread since you were so kind as to check in on me! (see my response in my check in)

Well...I think I can learn a LOT from your positive attitude on the Back incident. I loved hearing your story and you are so blessed to have supportive and helpful family members. I would NOT have been dealing with that nearly as well as you. "exercise walking to bathroom"

AND OMG reading about possibly needing to remove your toe nail....how timely for me to read this as two days ago was the second time I lost my pinkie toenail (Oh! just realized how funny that really was LOL  ) while hiking, cut it too short and it got caught on my sock....so painful and raw. I had this happen once before years ago, so not as scary as it seems, just need to keep it clean and covered for a week or two and it takes about 6 months to grow back....in case you do have to have it removed I thought I would share. (boy that felt like I shared TMI

April! Not TMI! Thank you! I am TERRIFIED of having my toenail removed. Especially the big toe. I have such a thing about nails. It's going to be hard for me and I really appreciate your story and experience of losing a nail.
I am very blessed and grateful to have my supportive family.
I am glad you enjoyed my "walking to the bathroom" exercise. For a few days there the effort involved with that was a lot. :D

November 4 2020

B: A hunk of cheese, coffee with cream.
Yummy! NOT. but I was sick of eggs and not very hungry and needed to take my abx. surprisingly filling!

L: leftover chili chicken(1 small piece) with salad made with chopped up veggie burger and a handful of pumpkin seeds

D: chicken with cheese and green beans

Handful pecans

I hope you don’t lose the toenail pink!! I ripped off my big toenail in Highschool & my daughter did the same thing a few months ago!! It wasn’t as bad in reality as the thought of it is  But hopefully you don’t have to find out!!

April it’s funny you had it happen too!! Who knew losing a toenail could be “common”

Thanks April and Jen! I appreciate all your good toenail wishes! Yowch, ripping off your big toenail sounds painful! No anesthetic!

Thanks auto! I appreciate the support and encouragement!

So today I woke up and my toe was still hurting and it still hurt to walk after 4 days of a second-round of abx and I was SICK of it. I decided to just go get it over with. My Dr had told me that if I didn't get better after a few days or if it got worse that I could come in and get it done. This has been dragging on for months. So I called and got an appointment for 45 minutes later and drove down there. Not only did I get my toenail removed but the person who did it was a med student being coached by the Dr. who was being evaluated by his supervisor that day! Luckily for me, that young man will make a fine Dr. someday. He did a great job(according to everyone in the room) And the most painful part was the injection of an anesthetic. The supervisor held my hand the whole time and everyone was very kind and supportive. It was actually an oddly positive experience. Not my favorite way to spend a Thursday morning but not the worst most awful thing that I was expecting.

Now, 8 hours later it definitely hurts. I am posted up in my recliner and my kids and my husband are doing everything for me. I am realizing how much I do at the house and for the family but don't even realize it. I CAN walk but it is pretty painful. When I am sitting with my foot propped up it's just a low-level stinging. It's not too bad. And luckily because of all my ankle injuries, I have crutches I can get around on so I don't have to put weight on that foot. But wow I hope I am done with physical ailments for a while!

B: scrambled eggs with cheese

L: chicken with green beans and cheese

D: 2 quesadillas, a pbj with milk
wow I missed carbs! I had a really small lunch because I didn't have much of an appetite. The adrenaline I think, but my appetite kicked back in in the evening.

Exercise: crutching around the house

Thanks Soprano! I try to be positive most of the time, I think it makes life way easier and more enjoyable to live but sometimes its hard not to descend into a bout of negativity.

My toe feels much better today. I can't believe the difference 24 hours makes. I have to unwrap it and clean it today and not looking forward to that. But otherwise, good.

I know what you mean! Sometimes, being cared for in this way can have a profound effect! I sometimes feel like this when I’ve been to the dentist - and it makes me wonder if I’m missing out on being intensively cared for in other ways - now we are grown-ups, we don’t often have our hands held etc..

What a chapter in your life! Hope things calm down soon.

Oh glad you took care of your toe and that your family is stepping up to help out! I remember how good it felt to have my family take care of things after my gallbladder surgery. Even if they don’t always help out , I know they’ll step up when it really counts.

Happy healing! 💜

Thank you Octavia! I know what you mean about being cared for. Its interesting the effect it can have.

Thank you Jen and Linda! My toe is feeling better but now I am SO HUNGRY.

I don't really know what the deal is. First I had the low carbness which was yuck and I lost about 5 pounds in 4 days which I know is not real weight. THen I had my procedure and didn't have much of an appetite for the next few days. Now I am STARVING. It is hard for meto eat because it falls outside the strictures of No S and I have gained about 3 pounds. I know I am barely getting 2,000 limping steps a day and so that doesn't help but you would think I would be less hungry because of that. I don't know if it was the deprivation of low carb or what. Usually if I go to bed hungry I wake up not hungry. That is so not the case these few days. I go to bed hungry and I wake up hungry. It takes will power to not eat between lunch and dinner but often after dinner I am so hungry I have to eat a little snack. Its very unusual for me.

B: apple oatmeal with pecans, milk, coffee with cream

L: roast beef sandwich with swiss cheese, half an apple

D: 2 black bean burritos(stuffed with beans), 2 squares of dark chocolate, 1 banana
banana was after dinner by about 30 minutes because I was still hungry. Dark chocolate was a craving

(Possibly an evening snack of nuts or a spoonful of peanut butter)

Glad your toe is feeling better!! I bet your body is just rebounding from the low carb/not hungry days & needs a few days to recover (: It’s easier said than done but try & enjoy it, food tastes so amazing when you are hungry and I’ve noticed when I have days like that, embracing it actually has better results than resisting & feeling stressed!!

Pinkie - do you think this is true hunger? I'm sensing you do, and I think you're pretty good at knowing when you're truly hungry since you always document when you feel full, satisfied, etc.......if true hunger is actually the case, then definitely eat. Just try to keep some structure to those mealtimes and, if it doesn't induce that inner rebel, choose nourishing foods (easy for me to say).

Jen, I think you are right. It is hard to not mentally resist but I know in the long run, its important to honor hunger.

Auto, It was true hunger, I wasn't sure but today I woke up not hungry and I could really feel the difference in my random thoughts of a snack might be nice versus I am so hungry I want a snack. However, I totally agree that it is so important to keep a structure to the mealtimes. It really helps keep me from feeling "out of control" and leads to less despair overeating.

So, yesteerday I woke up and the hunger was gone. It was kind of crazy but a very noticeable difference. i had no trouble not eating between meals. After dinner I mentally wanted something to eat but I recognized what a different feeling I had tonight where I wasn' really hungry and it was like a habit eating thought versus true hunger. So that was nice. I had a decaf coffee with a tbsp of cream to deal with the habit desire for extra food or dessert since I have been eating that way for about a week now and I feel fine. Not hungry before bed, just a little empty. THe previous nights my stomach was actually growling.

D: pork with apples and sweet potatoes Decaf coffee with cream

Today was more of the same. In fact I had to wait until 2 o'clock before I was hungry for lunch. I guess the take away from all this is, if you can get in touch with your hunger and eat when you are hungry, your body won't steer you wrong. I ate when I was hungry, tried not to feel guilt for eating more or "off plan" and because I wasn't beating myself up or feeling guilty, I was able to feel when I wasn't hungry anymore. I think in the past I have had this happen but feel guilty and hopeless and just start overeating to overeat and completely lose touch with my body's hunger signals.

Nov 13 2020

B: maple oatmeal with banana, pecan coffee with milk

L: vegetable soup with lentils, 1 piece of buttered toast

D: chicken nuggets, buttered corn, vanilla ice cream with some mini reeses

I love reading how you handled that!! Dieting teaches us the total wrong way to respond to extra hunger, you did such a great job of responding to it!!

You do a great job responding to the desire to eat when you aren’t hungry. That’s where I can struggle, moving past that urge without eating!!

Glad things are going well for you, have a good weekend :D

I might have missed this but did you decide what might have brought on the extra hungry days? PMS, extra exercise, stress, healing, etc.? Or just a mystery?

Thanks Jen! Its funny isn't it how hard it is to do that? Eat extra when we are extra hungry?

Auto, I think it was a combination of the extreme low carb diet( I didn't eat much with this because we didn't have a lot of food that fit this description) plus after my procedure, I didn't have much of an appetite for a few days. In retrospect, I was just making up for those few days where I didn't have much food, but it felt scary and like I was out of control with hunger.

The last few days I have been eating breakfast, lunch and dinner without any snacks. Last night at dinner I felt I didn't get enough so I had a helping of Greek yogurt. I also have been finally able to get some activity in! Yesterday I had a 20 minute slow limping walk and today I had a brisker 20 minute walk. Also, I am wearing sneakers for the first time in several weeks! It feels good to be able to be active again, but I worry about how much I lost with this forced inactitivy.

B: Peanut butter and Nutella oatmeal, coffee with cream
I have been experimenting with different oatmeals. Yesterday I had banana and flax with almond butter. I think I liked that better, but I had to try the Nutella. I actually have never had itl.

L: Turkey sandwich with vegetable soup
This is one of my favorite lunches lately. Sandwiches feel so much more filling when accompanied by soup and I get some veggies in

D: possibly fish sticks/ Not sure yet

Exercise:
20 minute walk! :)

Thank you auto! It was so wonderful! Today I am wearing sneakers all day. I love being able to walk. I noticed that going without supportive shoes for an extended amount of time my ankle was starting to hurt.

I am having a bit of trouble this week. I think we(the family) are all dragging. I feel like I spend my days being the militant schoolmarm. Keeping an eye on deadlines, work, breaks, quality of work, helping out with 6th-grade math and 12th-grade Algebra, not to mention English occasionally, chivvying my 3rd grader to actually do her work, and then, of course, MY work. I only have 3 weeks of school technically left, then a presentation due on the 14th and a final SQL assignment on the 15th of December. I have 3 more SQL Homeworks, a paper, and a PowerPoint presentation left to do, And Graduation on December 12th which is annoying because I still have 2 assignments due on the 14 and 15th.

But, I am starting to feel the feeling I felt at the beginning of the semester. Overwhelmed, depressed, and like I dread every day.

I snapped at my 17-year-old today in a very lose my temper kind of way, (not without good reason, but I rarely lose control like that) It ended up ok, we talked and maybe achieved resolution. Basically, she is way behind and doing badly in her 2 math classes and I have been trying to help her but she has been doing the opposite of what I tell her or suggest. Finally, I realized I need to step out of the way and let her fail if that is what she wants. All I can do is help if she asks for it, but I seriously can't be her taskmaster for every single assignment. That is LUDICROUS for a smart 17.5-year-old and it is working against her, which is also ludicrous. I think she wants me to tell her what to do so that she can blame me when she fails. Well not me specifically but anyone besides herself.

B: shredded wheat, berries, coffee with cream

L: turkey and swiss sandwich, a bowl of vegetable soup, some strawberry yogurt
I was really hungry today and ate lunch right at 12 rather than 1 30 like I normally do

D: will be sausage hash.

Exercise: more walking about 15 minutes

I had to quit worrying & let my now college son go though some rough school patches where he’d procrastinate to the point of being in over his head with missing assignments & grades WAY lower than what he was capable of. I kind of let him know, it’s his future & I’d help if he specifically needed it & asked, but that I wouldn’t be there in college to hover & it was up to him the become the type of student he wanted to be.

He didn’t totally recover his grades in high school but holy cow that kid is crushing college. He is usually setting the curve on tests in his classes. I am completely blown away!! I actually think it was good for him to learn he can’t get away with slacking in high-school. It’s hard not to feel responsible for our kids, but I really think we sometimes help them more when we help them less  Although at the time I just felt super guilty & like I was somehow failing him by not being a helicopter mom!!

I stopped harassing my son about his schoolwork when I realized he was doing better than I thought, this was last couple of years in high school. He had a first disastrous year in college then switched courses and did brilliant.

Uni wasn't so good.

I just tried to make him understand it was down to him, his life choices but we would help if asked. I wouldn't recommend it with juniors but by the time they hit late teens they have to learn to take responsibility or life just becomes a battlefield. Hard to do though.

He's doing ok now at work :)

Jen and Soprano thanks for sharing your stories and your advice. I really appreciate it and I take it to heart. You have no idea how helpful it is to hear from moms who have gone before. I talked it over with my husband and I realized he (not for the first time did I realize this) is such a control freak, sometimes it bleeds over into my parenting. But, I did manage to talk him around into realizing that this is the time to teach our daughter to learn real-world consequences, take responsibility for her own success, and for us to step back. I realized our goal was wrong. It shouldn't be "she needs to graduate no matter what" It should be " she needs to learn to take responsibility for herself and her success or failures and learn how to achieve things on her own" If she fails this semester and doesn't graduate, at least it's free and doesn't cost us money versus failing college.

In point of fact, neither of her dads actually graduated high school. My husband dropped out, and my ex-husband didn't graduate because of missing one credit for PE(so the story goes). They both got their GED's.

I told my husband we have to be prepared and OK with the possibility of her not graduating high school.

I think whatever happens it will be extremely valuable to her. OF course, I have told her if she needs help with her math or a quiz or whatever, we can help her but only if she has done all the work beforehand. ( she has a bad habit of doing nothing, randomly guessing, and then having US do the work).

Anyway, I am feeling more positive about things. Thanks again for the advice and for listening.

B: Shredded Wheat with berries, milk, coffee with cream

L: Vegetable lentil soup, 1 piece of buttered toast

D: 3 corn dog muffins with baby carrots, and 2 spoonfuls of yogurt
Served myself THREE corn dog muffins when I would typically serve myself only two, felt very daring but also good to eat until I felt satisfied

On a food-related note, I need to get better about serving myself enough dinner instead of serving myself a small amount and then either getting seconds because I don't feel satisfied or continuing to grab bits of food or both. Lately, I have had dinner, and then seconds, and then some nuts, and then some raisins, and then last night was peanut butter and crackers. In my head I am like "this is part of dinner" but I think those small servings make me feel not satisfied and so I feel like I need more and more food.

I'm glad you and your husband were able to talk together about your 17yo. That is tough stuff, and the biggest help for me in those times is finding a way to be on the same page with my husband. Otherwise it's a lonely place to be - worrying about a child and second-guessing every decision we make!

Oh man, I could have written that post about sweetpea who is also 17 1/2. She is failing English of all things. This is usually her strongest subject so I don’t know what’s going. She’s not doing so hot in her other classes either. I’m having a hard time backing off, but I think that’s what I need to do. She can always go to a community college I guess. Actually, both doc and I barely graduated hs and went to community college before transferring to university. I always said he & I were late bloomers. I guess maybe she is too. Just hard to give up on how I imagined her future would be. My youngest (15) is struggling a bit too and she’s gotten straight As since she was in 3rd grade. I swear this virtual learning is so challenging. Maybe colleges will take that into consideration next year.

Anyway, I feel your pain. So hard to let go.

I’m glad you & your husband got on the same team :D I’ve found t’s almost impossible to totally trust my parenting if my husband isn’t on board too!!

Me too with not enough “firsts”. I really have to challenge the believe that says less is better because I think that in the long run I eat more overall with the extras after, still looking for satisfaction than if I just eat enough to start out with

Auto, yes, I told my husband we absolutely had to be on the same page with this because it was going to be tough. I feel lucky that we are an "effective team"most of the time. Has anyone here seen the movie Oblivion? I always think of it when I say effective team. :D

Linda, I am sorry you are in the same boat. It's so frustrating as parents isn't it? We can see all these amazing possibilities and futures for our kids and they just don't seem to care. I guess its part of letting them being their own person, and letting it go, but wow is it tough! I went to community college when I didn't' want to go when I was 19, only because my parents wanted me to go and I failed enough classes to be put on academic probation. When I went to college on my own terms in my forties, I now get straight A's so far. So, I know that we really can't make our kids do what we want them to do, but it's hard. I know virtual learning is really hard on my 17 year old too.

Jen, yes I know what you mean. Our partner has to be on board! I have been doing pretty well with firsts being big enough but its only been two days. :D

Nov 20 2020

B: 1 bowl of shredded wheat, berries, milk and honey

L: 1 bowl of chicken noodle soup, 1 piece of toast with butter

D: 6 chicken nuggets, 1 bowl of peas with butter, a small ramekin of vanilla ice cream with reeses shell

20 minute walk - today no bandaid needed for my toe!

I decided to consciously eat a little less for breakfast and lunch today because I realized I had "Breakfast Creep". I am eating bigger breakfasts later and then eating lunch when I am not yet hungry for lunch(so I eat more) which then puts me on the dinner path of not being hungry for dinner.(so I eat more) When I eat when I am not hungry I notice it is hard to stop eating, and I stop eating for physical reasons, and switch to emotional reasons and end up eating way more than I need. I feel like its a lesson I have to learn over and over again.

I did have those few days of extra hunger but before that and after that, I think I have stopped eating when I am truly hungry. I am going to try to get back to noticing my hunger and eating when I truly feel hungry. I got away from that for a while. The good thing is, I really am aware of my hunger these days and so when I do choose to eat when I am not hungry at least I know that I am doing it.

Today I did a really good job of waiting to get hungry between meals. In order to that, I had to eat a little less breakfast and a little less lunch. I don't seem to be mentally freaking out about that yet. I do really like to eat my meal when I am hungry so hopefully I will continue to affirm eating a little less as a self care aspect so I can be hungry for my meals. Im wondering if after doing that for a while, I will start to get more hungry and need more food for meals as my "extra" food fades away. I am ready for it and plan to eat more if I need it.

Took the family on a rainy hike today. Good thing we got the kids conditioned to hike before today! It was drizzling or lightly raining during a lot of the hike, but then at the 3/4 mile mark it started POURING. We were all soaked by the time we got back to the car. However, I think the kids are starting to enjoy the feeling of going out, doing work, maybe getting a little cold and wet and then coming home and snuggling in warm pjs and relaxing for the rest of the day.

I saw my dad today, and his wife is doing better but having a LOT of joint pain. She got tested for Lyme and the test was negative so they aren't sure what is wrong with her.

But, it has been a good day. I got all my homework done early and I am in a good place working on my presentation for my internship so its a homework free weekend! WHOOOOO! :)

B: shredded wheat, berries, milk, coffee with cream

D: 2 pieces of Greek pizza, 1 cinnamon stick

Good move to reduce meal size too.

I love the sound of your rainy hike - and warming up at home afterward. We've always been a hiking family - less over the years as my youngest's school work took over our family - (He did IB in high school, so had so.much.homework - and now he's at an engineering college and works two jobs) It's just the two of us now, and we seldom get rain - but your post reminded me of our 'Snow Day' treks. We don't get many Snow Days either - but when we did, - we'd bundle up and slog through the snow to a nearby restaurant for lunch. It was silly fun. Somehow, those are the occasions that stay in our memories. Sounds like you are building some good memories for your family.

Sounds like your family is getting in a nice hiking groove! Yay for a weekend without homework. I had the same experience when I went back to college later in life. I got straight A's too. I did fine in high school and college, but didn't have the drive to really push myself and do my very best. It sounds like you are getting back in tune with your hunger and getting back into a good routine. It can be hard to keep all of our ducks in a row to stay emotionally balanced and aware enough to eat in the way that best suits our bodies and minds. I think you have it figured out pretty well now! Have a great week.

That’s my goal too Pink!! To get to a point where I have a little less at meals & am hungrier because I LOVE being hungry at meals. I just have never figured out how to get there without ending up feeling restricted  It just seems like the perfect balance, hungry for meals, enjoy the meal & move on. I too think that eating when I’m not hungry is an easy habit to get into! It’s the other part of IE that was hard for me, emotional eating. If I never wanted to eat when I wasn’t hungry I would never been tempted to diet in the first place

Your crew will always remember getting poured on while hiking!! Probably more than any other hike

Thanks Soprano, I hope so!

Auto, Thanks but I don't know about all that! We only go every other weekend so its not that amazing. It is good to at least have that routine though because I think the kids have become much more accepting. We typically go between 3 and 4 miles. Usually 3.5, but sometimes 4 or sometimes 3.

Dandelion, thanks for popping in! Your snow day hikes sound like a lot of fun! I love it when there is warmth and coziness and food at the end of a cold journey.

Thanks Alene! We do have a pretty good routine going so far, my husband is a huge routine man so its very helpful. It is hard to be emotionally balanced and aware with eating a lot of times. Thanks for the encouragement and support.

Jen, yeah that is my battle too. I love feeling hungry for my meals but I don't want to wake the restriction monster. It is a delicate line. Yeah I am sure every time we go hiking now the kids will be like "remember when we got rained on when we were hiking?"

Lets see... past couple of days.

Sunday Nov 22 2020

B: 1 waffle with syrup, 1 piece of bacon, coffee

L: 3 pieces of Greek Pizza

D: 1 bowl of veggie soup

(kind of had my big meal in the middle of the day. I think I realized that has been part of my problem. I have a big meal in the middle of the day until I am really comfortable and full and then normally at the time we eat dinner, that should lead to a lighter dinner. But, that isn't how we eat in my family so its a big meal on top of a big lunch meal. I didn't have to cook dinner for any of the kids so a bowl of soup for dinner was easy.

Monday Nov 23 2020

B: shredded wheat milk, banana, coffee with cream 8:30 am

L: half a turkey sandwich, 1 bowl of vegetable soup 12:30 pm
smaller lunch, felt satisfied, not FULL and was pleasantly hungry by dinnertime

D: tortellini alfredo with steamed broccoli, 1 piece of garlic bread, 1 apple 5:00pm
I decided also to start having my usual lunch fruit with dinner instead since that is when I want something sweet and often when I have fruit with lunch I kind of feel like I am forcing it down because I am already full. It worked great to have it with dinner

Exercise 30 minute walk yay!

I made it!

Thanksgiving break starts in 30 minutes for me!

I can see the finish line! 2 more SQL assignments, and I revised my rough draft for my internship paper today, and I have my rough draft of my PowerPoint presentation done. I need to go in and tweak some more and then take notes on what I want to say, but it's much more done than it was so far and that is so relieving. I have kind of been dreading the presentation ever since I knew it was a requirement 2 years ago. :D

But, kids are done with schoolwork until Monday and So am I!!! I have a giant book I am dying to jump into. Can't wait. :)

B: Shredded wheat, banana, milk, coffee with cream

L: 1 big bowl of lentil vegetable soup, half a piece of toast with butter

D: will be bbq kielbasa with rice and cornbread maybe green beans

Exercise 2 minute walk

So here is what I am slowly realizing. I can only have one big meal a day if I want to be hungry for my meals. I can't have a big ol breakfast, a big ol lunch and then a big ol dinner as well. In my normal life with my normal activity, the big meal needs to be once a day. Unless I get random intense hunger or whatever.(or go on a big long bike ride) It can't be a rule set in stone, just a be aware guideline. And, since dinner is usually a big meal at our house that means lunch and breakfast need to be smaller. breakfast only slightly smaller, as I really like breakfast these days, but lunch usually needs to be a bit on the lighter side, just to get me to dinner. I guess if you look at it, I eat dinner a little early so that makes sense. Technically I am eating in about an 8-9 hour window. Not on purpose, that is just my hunger pattern usually.

I have noticed that I automatically do this if I go out to eat or get take out. If I have a big take out meal for lunch, I eat a small dinner. If I have a big take out meal for dinner, I have a small lunch. So, that is what I am doing for now. I think there are just so many lunch options, its easy to eat a huge lunch because I want a sandwich, and soup, and pretzels and maybe some crackers, and cheese, and an apple, and yogurt. But I can't eat all that stuff at once. Maybe if it was my one big meal of the day... but I don't usually want to do that. Anyway, trial and error as always.

WOW!
What a great break! I spent pretty much all of Thanksgiving break off my computer and my phone and I just read books in my spare time. Of which there was much! I think I did a pretty good job with holiday eating. The only time I got really SS'y was having two pieces of pie instead of one after dinner. :D

But, I stuck to 3 meals a day, no snacks and pretty much just had dessert every day of the week starting Wednesday. I got to go on a short 5 mile bike ride on Friday and it was great! Cold, but great! With the Christmas tree about to be set up, there isn't room for my bike so I will probably have to do the elliptical to keep my cardio and strength up. I think it will be ok though.

I basically finished my final paper and my PowerPoint. I went through a practice run of my presentation and it was 27 minutes long. It's only supposed to be 20. I can talk a lot when I am not nervous. I imagine I will be nervous though and so maybe 27 when not nervous is good, it gives me 7 minutes of cushion... I am not sure.

B: Peanut butter and nutella oatmeal

L: lentil soup and piece of buttered toast

D: will be vegetarian chilli

Nice work on having your presentation ready! How many points will you get docked if you go overtime? It might be worth it. LOL!

Auto thanks! I have a phone call with my adviser tomorrow and I will ask her about that, it doesn't say in the rubric.

SOOOO close to finishing! I am having a hard time since I just want to be done. Patience patience.

Yesterday was rough with the girls, as they all didn't want to be back at the schoolwork grind but today was much better. I also managed to get an elliptical work out in. My goal is twice a week. I feel like I can manage that...

B: banana almond flaxseed oatmeal, coffee with cream

L: vegetarian chili, 1.5 pieces of cornbread
chili turned out yuck. But cornbread turned out amazing! So, a small amount of chili and a little extra cornbread. :)

D: breakfast for dinner. Pancakes and sausage are planned...

Exercise:

30 minutes elliptical
15 minute walk

Thank you Linda!

I have been a busy bee! Im in the final stretch before graduation and the kids winter break. I am unofficially done with my internship( I have reached 120 hours) but I have been finishing up a few things off the clock because I just want to see them done. :D I have to have a final meeting on Thursday. I have tweaked and rehearsed my presentation, revised my paper a few times, and mostly finished my final homework for SQL. I am so close that I am just ANTSY. I find it hard to gear down and read or do anything relaxing. I just want it to be over.

Eating has been going pretty well. I have been sticking to 3 meals a day with no seconds. I have been having an apple with my dinner instead of my lunch and that greatly contributes to the mental/physical satiation factor.

I am ready for the kids to be done too! I am almost one hundred percent positive that my 17 year old will not be graduating early. She is nowhere close to being done with her coursework. But, that is up to her. I think she is living in denial though and the reality might be a bit painful when it crashes down on her. I hope she learns something from it, but who knows.

B: Grapenuts with milk, honey and banana, coffee with cream

L: bbq chicken sandwich, baked beans

D: will be baked potato with broccoli, cheese and black bean chilli 1 apple

PH, congrats on finishing your internship! That is a real accomplishment, especially during these times. I hope you are starting to be able to relax and wind down from that, and enjoy the holiday season. It sounds like your eating has been going well and you're finding a sweet spot.

And I love me a good apple. Hits lots of yum factors - crunch, sweet, tang!

Thank you Soprano!

Thank you Alene! I do feel really accomplished, but it is hard to gear down and relax so far.

Jen thank you! Yes Christmas break feels like the promised land this year for sure!

Thank you auto! My presentation went great! My adviser said I did a great job and she was really impressed by how well I did with my internship as well. Apparently, my supervisor was "singing my praises" for the final evaluation. That made me feel really good. I don't know my final grade but she said I had "nothing to worry about".

So, I am going to assume I at least passed. And I got an A in my SQL clas so I am done done done! My computer programming/web development degree has been achieved. If you all knew me and knew who I was when I was younger you would be probably as amazed as me. When I was younger I was spacy, creative, a bit flaky, bad at math, loved reading and writing, and no one would call me the logical one in the group. However, I have always loved solving logic puzzles and playing games like Kings Quest where you figure out the puzzle, so you could definitely call me a problem solver. It's still pretty amazing though. I feel like I picked not only one of the hardest associate's degrees but also one that was the most challenging for ME. I do really enjoy website design though and figuring out solutions by researching and experimentation. ( THat was pretty much my whole internship).

So, now I am trying to calm down and enjoy the holidays. I have lots of books that I have been putting off reading until the end so that should be helpful.

My weight has remained steady at 153 for months now, barring the slight increase of a few pounds before and during my toenail issues.

I noticed that after my bike ride and elliptical that my back started hurting a lot again, so I haven't done any more what you would call intentional exercise since then. I am wondering if I should try for yoga or something? The 1.5 weeks off of exercise seem to have helped my back a lot, and it started feeling pretty much all better a couple days ago.

B: Blueberry oatmeal with cream, coffee with homemade chocolate milk.

L: 1 egg salad sandwich

D: plan for pork chop, green beans, probably an apple.

I really hope you are able to gradually relax during this Christmas break. I know how hard it can be to settle down after we've been wound up for so long.

You know, I hardly ever even register people's food on this forum, but your food always looks good to me. :-) I love me a good egg salad sandwich. My hubby made one of those for me on our first date and I still remember how proud he was of himself.

Thanks, auto! It's so annoying my subconscious doesn't realize I am not in school anymore and I have been having these crazy dreams where I am trying to get things done and figure things out and I can't do them so then I wake up. I am hoping that my brain will calm down soon.

That is so sweet your husband made you egg salad sandwiches! I love egg salad sandwiches and every once in a while I get a craving and have them every day for a week straight.

Nothing much is happening now that school is done for me. My 8 year old still has school but her last day before break is Friday so soon.

B: blueberry oatmeal with cream, coffee with chocolate milk

L: a small amount of leftover broccoli cheese soup and 1 fried egg sandwich
I was really hungry and craving eggs and bread

D: black bean burritos with sour cream, lettuce and tomato with buttered corn on the side. YUM
I was contentedly full after dinner. I have noticed the past few nights except for last night, I haven't been full after dinner which seems to make me much more susceptible to desert nibbling.

AND THEN...

3 fancy chocolates because my husband whipped out chocolates he had brought home for me from his work. He saved some for me, so it was too much to say I would eat them the next day, I went ahead and had some. But, he brought home 6 and I only had 3 so... win? :D

Wow! I didn't realize I hadn't checked in so many days! I have been having a good weekend and week. We got all our Christmas stuff done early and have very little to do. We took the family hiking on Saturday, and did about 3.5 miles. There was no complaining, we have come so far!

B: mixed berry oatmeal coffee and cream

L: egg salad sandwich

S: some honey roasted nuts and a few crackers

D: a bowl of homemade veggie soup and a banana peanut butter sandwich
17 yo is having dinner at her step mom's tonight. She is in our bubble since her step moms daughter(17 yo's sister) lives half her time at her dad's (17 yo dads, and half her time at her moms. Shared custody is tricky with Covid! ) Anyway, made my own dinner after making the younger girls pigs in a blanket. I think I have been craving peanut butter? I don't know but I really overdid it on the peanut butter. I had to throw about 1/4 of my sandwich away, I couldn't finish it! but I feel nice and full and satisfied.

Tomorrow is Christmas cookie making! I will probably have at least one. :)

Thanks Jen! The cookies turned out pretty good!

Thank you Alene, I have appreciated your friendship and support as well. <3

Well, when I am on vacation I tend to stay away from computers, even this wonderful forum. I think it is really helpful for my mental state. But, break is over and I am back! I went a little nuts this holiday in regards to food, but thinking it over this morning, I realized that my definition of "nuts" has changed, and compared to previous years, I went way less nuts.

I had a little dessert every day and I snacked after dinner a few times. We ate a lot of take out but on those days I stuck with 3 meals a day. I gained about 3 pounds it looks like but I feel pretty confident that I can go back to my usual 153 by going back to my No S way of eating. We will see...

Kids have their first day of school today but I have no school! I plan to work on the house and getting the family back to more home cooked meals. When I was in school we ate out of boxes a lot. I also plan to enrich their virtual schooling experience with "field trips" like bike rides, walks at our local park, and things like that. And, I need to get back to my weights. I haven't worked out AT ALL for the past few weeks and its been a nice break but today I hurt myself putting my grocery bags in my car. I have become that weak! I am going to get the kids going on school this week and start focusing more on my goals next week.

B: oatmeal with blueberries and cream, coffee with cream
I have gotten really into cream lately. Cream with coffee, cream with oatmeal, cream in cereal...)

L: Egg salad sandwich, 1 small apple

D: 1.5 servings Artichoke chicken pasta with tomato cream sauce, half a bowl of cheerios with milk
There is that cream again! This was so good! Tasted kind of like a dish I used to get at Olive Garden. I'm weaning myself off dessert every night and a small mug of cereal is what I am using for now.

Exercise 20 minute walk

Hi Pinkie! So glad to hear your update! I figured you were just enjoying your holiday, but I missed you! :-)
Happy New Year and hope this quarter goes really for your kids and your adjustment to "being done" with school!

Oh, and yeah - get back on those weights! Strong women rule. :-)
