Della's Monthly Check In

I've been doing No S for two weeks now and the slow progress is a little discouraging. I know that the important part is building the habit, so I'm hanging in there. My plates are slowly getting healthier and my S days are starting to calm down. I've also added shovel glove (not up to the full 14 minutes yet) and Urban Ranger (just barely). Hopefully as the weeks go by, I will get healthier and the exercise will increase.

also, I did not mean to post this in the daily check in.

maybe it's meant to be!! You can keep a check in thread here. How much weight do you have to lose? And how tall are you?

Thanks. I'm 5'8 and would like to lose 50-60 lbs

2 weeks and 1 day and still haven't had a red day. Meals are getting a bit healthier (the first week of plates were def not so healthy). Having a bit of a struggle with dinner. My dinner plate is not always the healthiest and I'm really hungry at dinner so I am still eating a big portion. Hopefully that will subside. O

Day 16 - Actually feel like I might be gaining weight. I know that I'm still in the beginning stages of No S + plus extra S days around the holidays... I am going to stick with it. I am too scared to weigh myself. Think I will put that off until January 1st.

No harm in not weighing yourself, concentrate on ingraining the habits. It took a few weeks for me to see much weightloss anyway and it did go up and down despite being hungry each meal time...

Thank you. I really am trying to just hang in there and stay on habit. I really wanna cheat today but I won't. I'm not even hungry, I just want sugar.

I made it 3 weeks with no red days! I feel different now than I did 3 weeks ago. Cravings have most definitely calmed down. S days are not crazy. I feel like my habit is set in stone now. If only I could get on habit with shovelglove, that would be awesome. Having a hard time staying consistent with that one. In January I hope to be doing shovelglove 5 days a week and going for a walk at the gym every morning before work.

Today marks 4 weeks of No S. I've had one red day. This week I am focusing on eating healthier meals, exercising, and cutting back on the wine. If I could develop a habit of these 3 things, I will start dropping weight for sure.

LOL those are three challenging things, in my book! It has been hugely difficult for me to habituate healthier meals, exercise is always a fiend, and wine?! I was trying a dry December but I think I'm already throwing in the towel. But good luck to you on your ambitious goals. :-)

A dry December sounds absolutely horrible! Maybe a slow down December is in order lol Good luck and thanks for the support.

Had a stupid red day last night.
I did perfect all day... for breakfast I had a veggie frittata, lunch I had pistachios and fruit, dinner I had chicken, veggies, and rice... everything was going great. Then, I drank some wine and absolutely had to have 4 crackers before bed. Can't believe I'd ruin a perfect green day over 4 crackers.

Day 30! So far I've had 2 red days. I've incorporated exercise 3-5 days a week. It's not break neck exercise but its something... and I make sure to get it over with first thing in the morning. Right now my priorities are just staying on habit with No S and exercise and trying to not eat anything too crappy. I'm glad that I chose to do this during the holidays. I didn't want to be a newbie at the beginning of 2019. Kind of hoping to have all habits set in stone by that time.

Sounds like you are doing brilliantly. Remember that even Reinhard writes that he averages 2 reds a month.

I'm late to your posts, but think the highlight above is key. Glad to see you starting good habits. If you check my most recent check in, I comment on that very thing about daily walks.

I'm about 5 weeks in now. This time of year is not easy. There is just so much going on. Friend parties, family parties, work parties... I feel like there are S days all over the place. I try to stay moderate on these S days, but it does get out of hand from time to time. I will be happy when the holidays are over and everyday life is more sane! I haven't weighed myself yet. I was going to officially do that on January 1st and start tracking it monthly from there. I'm super nervous about this. I don't know if I'm prepared to know how much I weigh.

If you think weighing will have a negative impact wait until the 7th but commit to starting on the first or second

I know this is a teensy bit controversial, but I say face your fears and get on that silly scale. It's just a scale - it can't bite us. :-)

Once you know where you stand (haha get it - stand?) you can make realistic plans.

It's been a few weeks since my last update. I've been on habit for the most part and finally had the courage to weigh myself before going to the gym today (224) and now that I have that out of the way, I will start doing that once a month. Hopefully that is the biggest number I will ever see.

It's a miracle that I dragged my @$$ out of bed today to do shovelglove and walk on the treadmill at the gym before work. Some days are definitely harder than others. One of my goals is to lose 30 lbs this year which means I need to lose 2.5 lbs per month. That doesn't seem like a lot but I really hope that I am doing enough during my N days to make that happen.

Tried something new yesterday. I ate a big lunch with 2 salmon filets, brown rice, and veggies and decided to fast for dinner. When I got a little hungry I had some tea. I think this is something that I could do once or twice a week to speed up weight loss. I woke up feeling fine and was able to do my walk and my shovelglove with no issues. Still haven't cracked into my breakfast yet and feel good.

Good for you on the exercise as well as the fasting. I do Intermittent fasting and really enjoy it.

First monthly weigh in today and I've lost 13 lbs! Couldn't be happier. Still doing No S and fasting lunch or dinner a few days a week. Once this cold weather moves past us, I can start exercising again. I hope next month is just as successful.

Another monthly weigh in and I’m down anoth 5lbs for a total weight loss of 18 lbs since January. Really hoping to finally get under 200 by my April check in. Only 6 more lbs to go!! Still staying on habit and fasting lunch or dinner a few times a week.

I’m going to be busy the next week or so and had to do my April weigh in this morning. I’m another 6 lbs down for a total weight loss of 24 lbs since January. As badly as I wanted to be under 200, I’m still very very happy with my progress. I can’t wait to be under 200 next month!! Still doing vanilla No S and occasionally fast a meal a couple days a week. I’ve also cut back on the wine a bit. My exercise has completely fallen off but I plan to pick that habit back up soon. I really didn’t think I was going to lose anything this month but I’m so glad I did!

You're doing great! Glad to see that doing vanilla NoS is working so well for you. Don't be surprised if your weight loss doesn't remain at 5-6 pounds per month for the balance of the year. My modified Atkins diet a long time ago, looked very similar to your numbers, and then it stabilized at 1-2 lbs, and .5 to 1 lb. per month until it finally stablilized. Of course everyone is different. Continued success.

Thanks! I honestly didn’t think I was going to lose 6 lbs again this month but I’m so glad I did. My BMI is still at 30 so hopefully I’ll Have a few more good losses before tapering off. Thanks for the support!

Very happy for your progress! In my opinion, don't worry about the exercise at this point. Willpower muscles are easily overworked and then they collapse in multiple areas. :-) Plus, I personally think focusing on eating habits is 80% of weight loss. Don't get me wrong - I think exercise and moving is critical to good health, but one thing at a time!

May check in and I’m down 4 more pounds for a total of 28 lbs lost since January. 2 lbs away from my annual goal of 30 lbs! Feels SO good to finally be under 200. It’ll be nice to switch my focus to a healthy BMI!

June weigh in and I’m only down 2 lbs but I’m still pretty stoked about being down a total of 30 for 2019! I slacked a little this month but ready to get back on track for June. I’d really like to lose an additional 20 this year. Still doing vanilla No S and fasting one meal a couple days a week.

Thanks! To be honest, I’m not even being a super healthy eater or anything. I usually have a breakfast sandwich and a coffee in the morning. Skip lunch but drink tons of water/crystal light, drink wine after work with a light dinner (chicken breast and veggies mostly). If I’m starving in the middle of the day/lunchtime to the point I’m crabby, I’ll eat a handful of almonds or cashews but that doesn’t happen often. On the weekend I eat whatever the F I want. But over time that has become less naturally since I get full much faster now a days. But my exercise has declined a lot. I intend on getting back on schedule with that on July 1st. Nothing crazy though. Just some shovelglove and walks a few times a week. I’m above average height for a woman so I’m glad that my weight loss is finally noticeable!
