First day!

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

First day!

Post by Jessnomi » Wed Jan 23, 2019 10:07 pm

Started No S today! Starting at 166 lbs hoping to get down to 115 (only 5ft tall).
I’ve been a snacker ever since moving to Canada, and have slowly gained weight over the last 15 years (with two pregnancies in between) and keep yo-yo-ing.
I’ve tried calorie counting but it’s all just a numbers game and I want to be able to enjoy food again without the mental math.
I got through today, but this evening will be the test, as this is the time of day when I like to break out the snacks.

Fingers crossed!!

Welcome to reasonable and sane moderation! I hope you enjoy keeping this daily journal of your journey.
I too am short (5'2''), so I can relate to some of the specific struggles of being petite and realizing that it doesn't take much food for me to gain weight! But I have loved NoS for 5 years.

Welcome! We started the same day, although I am a repeat offender ...

I hope you go great! :D

Automatedeating, five years !!! I find it incredible that someone can stay in a feeding method for so long (and I know there are a lot of people here in that situation, but it still amazes me) :)
