We currently have 14 spammer threads on front page(edit) & 13 on 2nd page(edit) of daily check in pushing regular posters off the first page. Same thing to some extent on other forums as well.

You can report these and they will be removed but the forum software needs upgrading, it is preventable but takes more work.

It's a shame as it is annoying and can lose us members

Already done, en-masse, but it's annoying to send a notice for the 30-40+ spams on our board.

I have emailed Reinhard twice. I suggest you do the same. He knows he needs to upgrade the server, but he hates the thought of losing Habitcal. I'm like - at this point so be it.

I'll let it drop at this point.

Hi Whosonfirst. I'm sorry - I didn't mean to sound like I know how to solve this or have a simplistic solution. I don't. I only just emailed Reinhard recently two times about this overflow of spam - I have never emailed him before this crazy worsening in the last few months. I just was thinking that if enough of us email him personally he might solve the problem. I also offered to be a moderator if that would help. And I really don't know anything about the specific needs of a server in order to block spam.

Thank you for emailing him and for caring about our forum.

There are much better forum software programmes out there that will allow you to block first posts and pick up potential spammers on registration. I'm a moderator on another forum, unrelated to diets and it is so much more user friendly than this one which from a users experience point of view is frustrating to say the least.
