A question for all

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

A question for all

Post by Mom3 » Fri Sep 22, 2006 6:11 pm

As an S day is rapidly approaching, I was reading the bulletin board and saw several people mention that they don't worry at all about S days.

I had thought about allowing one s per s day...as in one snack OR seconds OR a sweet .....

Thoughts???
Thanks everyone. Such great inspiration here...

For me, it just comes down to not wanting to have to worry about the rules on S days. I'm just lazy, I guess. Plus, I'm finding the N habits are affecting my desires for the Ss, even on S days.

I am a hard core snacker. I am finding after several monthes of losing and gaining the same couple of pounds that I will have to limit my S days otherwise I graze so much that I gain on the weekend the pound I lost during the week. I have been on a plateau for ages. I think it is a personal decision depending on how you deal with your S days. I was making them a 4th S---sinful. I have to curb them but that is a theory that will be tested out for the first time this weekend.
A lot of growing up happens between "it fell" and "I dropped it."
