GW Check-in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Post by GW » Wed Apr 02, 2008 4:49 pm

206.5 lbs

From Weekly Check-in at work Weight Loss Challenge. Nothing like being weighed on a big industrial scale. We get finded $0.25 per pound if we go up.

Been trying NOS for over a year. Not much weight lost, but I am now finally adding a walk every night. Even walked in a snow storm the other night.

Have the NOS down pretty good. I would say I am at 90%. It is that late night, before going to bed snack that gets me. Recently, I have been having cheese instead of a cookie.

Went to the hardware store to look at sledge hammers, but did not buy one yet.

206.5 Same as last week.

I blame it on going to two baseball games during the week. One at Wrigley Field in Chicago & one at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Should never had the jumbo hot dog after the Italian Beef sandwich in Chicago. And far too many peanuts at the Miller Park game.

Go Brewers! 6-1

211 lbs :(

I blame the steel toe shoes I wore that day. Wait, I wear steel toe shoes everyday.

Walking every day 30 to 45 minutes. I pushed my 7 year old daughter in the stroller last night. That makes the walk much harder. That may be the her last stroller ride ever. Sad because she is the youngest of four kids. I am very jealous of people pushing the little babies around.

Still eating too much after dinner. I am good all day, until then.

5/16/2008 Weekly Check In - NO DONUTS!

Post by GW » Mon May 19, 2008 1:46 pm

205 lbs. No loss, but I was traveling all week & stayed the same. Which is great, since I could not get out and walk after work since we were at work from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm most nights.

Every day at the event there were larqe quantities of Dunkin Donuts out. I did not have one the entire three days. Pretty good for me. I kept thinking about my check in and did not want to gain weight.

My big worry is will I fall back. Must keep walking. And the added peer pressure of posting on line and the weekly weigh-ins at work help.

I am in the top 5 (out of 21) in the at work weight loss challenge. I think I could make about $75 if I keep that spot. Top spot gets $115.

 205 lbs. Scale keep changing from 204.5 to 205, but spent more time on 205. Up 1/2 pound & I had to pay the 15 cents fine.

204 lbs. Last offical weigh in for my company's weight loss challenge. Started at 212.5 lbs. six months ago. So 8.5 lbs in six months.

Not great, but better than not losing.

Found if I walk at night, I lose.

Have to start Shovel Glove and see what that does.

New Six Month Weight loss challenge starting at work.

I see I posted 204 lbs at the end of the last challenge in June.

I weighed in at 207 this morning.

Goal is to get below 200 and keep it off.
