Kerry1976's Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Kerry1976's Check In

Post by Kerry1976 » Thu Dec 11, 2008 3:15 pm

Day 3 on the No S. Days 1 & 2 were successful. It is pretty hard to be successful this time of year because we have holiday floor party/lunches in which it is potluck and eat all you want. I've gotten one plate with no sweets and left it at that. Also, we have candy everywhere. There three separate candy dishes in our office, including one in my waiting area. My coworker at the front desk constantly has chocolate, treats, you name it - the only way to go to the bathroom is to pass her little convenience store at her desk. But I've not snacked once since starting, which is great.

So far, Day 3 is okay, too, although I'm hungry (didn't eat enough for bfast, I guess) and lunch isn't for a few hours. Where's that water?

Enjoyed a couple of pops over the weekend and a pop tart - that was enough for me. Although must admit this morning it was hard - I was tired and hungry. But I've made it so far.
