frugaltexan's check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Strange day. Started out with the electricity being turned off in my landlady's house. Apparently she had paid it late one month and had been playing catch up, and thought the next payment wasn't till the 2nd. Oops.

Electric was back on by 1 pm, but I ended up eating brunch at IHOP. Then I got busy working on schoolwork and about 6 pm was thinking of what I could eat ... when I got a call from my step dad asking me to come over so I could be with my mom in the morning. (she had gall bladder surgery Wed morning.)

I messed up. I should have taken the time to stop at 7/11 and get the egg salad sandwich I was thinking about - but it was in the wrong direction. So instead I stopped at a CVS, and couldn't find anything, so picked up a soda and candy bar. Ugh.

Tomorrow is another day.

Live and learn, right? You'll do better next time. Hope your mom is doing okay after her surgery.

I'm back. Had a rough couple days last week.

I've decided to not track days by number anymore. I'll post and say whether it was a Success or a Failure. The other way seemed to have started to discourage me, and I even was finding myself excusing myself to go ahead and not worry about making the day a green because the one before was a red.

Monday and Tuesday were both successes.

Wednesdays for me seem to be the most difficult day because it is completely out of sync with the other 4 work days.

The last two nights I've been eating quiona for supper. I love it, but it's not sticking with me very well. I may need to add a tbsp of peanut butter or maybe pb toast to make it more filling.

I really like quinoa, too. I find stuff like that doesn't stick with me without enough fat (butter) with it.

Dandelion - you may be right about the butter. I used Nutritional Yeast for flavoring, and that doesn't have any fat (or minimal).

Tonight I made macaroni and cheese - *that* is sticking with me. :)

Wednesday

I may have a job interview on Friday. If I get that job, then I'll be working 5 days a week. I'll be sad to lose my lazy Wednesdays, but I think it will be better for keeping on track during the week (and my pocketbook too!)

The only thing is .. working in a regular office again, I'll have a greater possibility of coming in contact with free goodies. It's an insurance office - I wonder if they have vendors treating them as much as the oil and gas company I used to work at did? We constantly were having vendors treat our office to breakfast, and of course we had this one vendor who sent in a smorgasboard of treats each week ... plus about once a month, we'd have a catered lunch. Doing no-s there would've been really, really difficult.

I've had it pretty easy at the gym - my biggest danger is going to the vending machine out of pure boredom.

Good to see you again.

I hear you on the office goodies problem. Food is everywhere! But I suppose if you can see it as a potential problem, it gives you time to come up with good strategies to handle the situation.

Sometimes it's less that the food is sitting there winking at you, and more that people are pressing it on you, or asking you why you aren't having some.

Good luck on the job interview! There are always treats at my office, including two candy jars in front of my face 8 hours a day. I've found that No S helps me deal with it - it's ALWAYS off limits, and I find I don't even have to make the "eat or don't eat" decisions any more.

Thanks Girl Next Door - That's true. I do have time to come up with strategies. Of course, since I'd be sitting up front 95% of the day, I wouldn't have too much access to the sweets. At my former company once I went in the back and had my desk right *next* to the kitchen ..... that caused major problems.

Thanks Starla. Yep, you're right. The *Off Limits* so *No Question* will be good to remember. :)

Thursday was a success by the skin of my teeth. It was my LONG day at the gym. About two hours after I ate lunch I was getting strong urges to get something snacky. I wasn't hungry - I was bored and tired and cold. I ended up having a cup of warm milk, and was fine.

My interview is Friday at 1:30. That's around the time I usually eat lunch ... I'm not sure if I'll eat before or after.

Laura,

Hope the interview went well. I find decision making on NoS so clear. Is it a sweet? a snack? a second? I don't have to think too hard.
I am still on Spark People as I like the weekly weigh in. But NoS is the path I am on... it seems to suit my life, and seems it always will. I am not 100% and haven't counted days after doing the first 21 days, but I aspire to the vanilla NoS.

Thanks Karen :D Good to see you. I check in on the team once in awhile. So far, monthly weigh-ins seem to be working for me when combined with No-S, otherwise I probably would join back up for the next challenge. Maybe I'll join up for the summer one, by then going back to weekly weighs might not hinder my progress.

I totally agree with you about how No-s is the path to follow. This week I stopped counting my days, and that did somehow seem to relieve the minuscule pressure I was feeling. I'm glad I found No-S, and I'm glad I have two people on the boards here that I *know* (Sparkpeople and another site where I raved about No-s.) :)

My interview did go well today. I was asked to take a profile test, then told that I was one of 5 possible candidates. I should know one way or another by Wednesday or Thursday. If I get the job, I'm planning on making that day a NWS. :D No, not really. But it could qualify for one. :)

Friday

In fact, I only had two meals today. I ate a slightly larger than normal breakfast around 9 a.m. Had a cup of warm milk around 11:30 (was cold). My interview was at 1:30. I finished around 3. Drove home and walked the dogs. Ate a sandwich at around 5.

I am kind of hungry right now, but it's 10 pm and I hate to eat so late. So, I think I'll just go to bed slightly hungry and dream of the donuts holes I have to go with breakfast. :)

My next official weigh in is next Saturday. I've had another person comment that it looks like I've lost weight. (mostly in my face) So .... I'm intrigued to see what the numbers are.

Saturday I spent nearly 9 hours helping the gym manager clean out one of the gym locations. Not my ideal way to spend a Saturday, but I got a lot of exercise (esp. strength!) and feel good about helping out a friend.

It also kept me away from my S treats. I had some, but a lot less than I might usually have if I'd been doing my usual Saturday afternoon./evening routine. :D

Monday

I was doing really well. I'd made it through just eating three meals with no snacks.

But ... I was also feeling really tired and out of it. Before I knew it, I was reaching for the bag of donut holes left over from the weekend. Ooops.

Still feeling tired and out of it, so didn't help a thing. (Not that I thought that it would.)

Tuesday

Tonight I went to an orientation meeting for volunteers at a no-kill shelter. I ate a little bit more for lunch, and was able to make it just fine till after the meeting to eat supper - which I bought an egg salad sandwich on the way home.

Sorry about the job, Laura. But you should be VERY happy that you realized your old coping methods weren't helping. Congratulations on getting back on track so quickly!

I hope you enjoy your volunteer work. I volunteer with a no-kill organization (all cats), and get a lot of satisfaction out of it. Here's my advice to all new volunteers - learn to say no to things you don't want to do. It's easy to get dragged in over your head, because the need can be overwhelming. But it's SO rewarding to be part of the journey an animal takes from unwanted to beloved.

I am so glad that such places exist and there are people who do this kind of work. Two months ago we got a flame point siamese from a shelter. He is the best cat I've ever had. He's so much fun, and so loving. He runs to the door when we get home. I hate to think what would have happened to him had those ladies not rescued him from the pound that day.

Thanks everyone.

I am disappointed I didn't get the job, but overall, it probably is better that I didn't. My current job is low pay, no benefits, but very flexible and allows me the time to go to school full time. The job I didn't get would have been better pay, health and retirement benefits, but no flexibility - which would've meant I would've had to go slower on school.

I'm looking forward to working at the shelter, and do plan on not getting overwhelmed. My greatest danger is wanting to take all the animals home with me - but that will be averted because I just plain can't do that.

Friday

After all the food I consumed yesterday I wasn't terribly hungry today. Tomorrow is my monthly weigh-in. I'm almost afraid to see what it looks like after Thursday, plus the several other red days this month. I think I'll be happy if I've just maintained from my last weigh in.

A maintain is always better than a gain! It looks like you're really working on the No-S habits and not sliding back into your previous habits. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Girl Next Door. :)

Well ... I had a loss. .02 lbs, but a loss still. :D

My next weigh in (Dec. 13) is two-days before my birthday, which is good. Hopefully I can see at least one pound gone by then!

My goal is to have no red days this coming time period - Thanksgiving will be a NWS, but we'll be going out to eat, so it can be a non-idiotic one. I'll be going on vacation from the 22nd of Dec to the 3rd of January, and my goal for that time period will simply be to maintain.

I'm going to CA to see my dad and brother. I stayed with my dad and grandma last Christmas, but haven't seen my brother since the June before. My brother'll be picking me up from the airport, and actually has Christmas/Christmas Eve off work!! (He has a BA in Marketing but works as a waiter at a 4 star restaurant. He was the main waiter for the ladies of Real Housewives of Orange County last season when they visited his place. Got about 6 minutes of tv time. :D ) I am SO excited to see him!

Our dad has bought the Wii game system for grandma - so we'll probably play that a lot. :D We're also going to go to Solvang (Danish town) and Ronald Reagan's library, etc. We might do Hearst Castle as well.

I had to look up that Danish town last night. I've heard of it, but didn't know much about it. It looks very interesting. We went to Denmark a few years ago, but that's not going to happen again for a while..if ever.

It is a neat town. My dad's side of the family is Danish, which is part of what makes the town a good place to visit. :) When I used to live in CA one spring break (I was teaching) I did a mini-vacation along 101 to Hearst Castle and Solvang. It was fun, but I think it'll be more fun to do it with other people. (Plus, I only did one of the tours at Hearst out of the 3 possible ones.)

Thanks Girl Next Door :)

Wednesday

I spent a lot of time working on my running paper today. I find that when I'm uber focused on something - such as researching and trying to write a paper - it is easy to ignore food.

I noticed renew is thinking about doing two days a week where she'll only do two meals. I actually think that that is doable, as I've done that accidentally (usually on Wednesdays). But I don't think I'd want to do it as a planned occurrence.

I registered for my Spring classes today. Because it took extra time for the registrar to get to my advising form, I was put in the 002 sections of each class. For one class in particular, this means I get a different professor. Judging from what some of my classmates have said about the "other" professor, this may be a blessing. :)

Ah..that inner brat. I think I have, in addition to an inner brat, an inner skeptic? Loser? Pessimist?. Not sure what to call her - but she's the one that says 'it won't matter if you eat this - it's not like you're going to lose weight anyway' I have more trouble with her than the brat. Thankfully the more this works, the quieter she gets.

Thanks Kevin.

Dandelion,

Oh yes. The inner skeptic. The one that taunts you and questions your whether your efforts are worthwhile. I have had that come out many times.

Friday

I ate more S foods than I had planned on this weekend, but wasn't *too* over the top.

I am looking forward to Thursday and having a *legal* NWS day. :D Since I'll be at my mom's house, I can be sure it won't be a wild one. LOL!

I'm cold right now, so I think I'm going to go make one of my decadent hot chocolates - the kind I save for S days. Yum. :)

Tuesday
Wednesday

I wasn't sure if Wednesday was going to be a green day or not - Tuesday I pretty much only ate two meals, and then *really* late had a spoonful of peanut butter for my third "meal." I'd been so focused on working on my final term paper that I didn't even feel hungry. Wednesday morning about 3 am I woke up feeling *hungry* but somehow I managed to make it to my normal breakfast time (9 am.)

Wednesday I had lunch at 2, and then got to my moms place around 5. She wanted to have an early supper so we could go do some shopping. I really wasn't hungry ... but ate a cornbread muffin, some veggies and one veggie patty with cheese. I was SO uncomfortably full after eating that. Ugh!

Today we're going to eat at Furr's Resturaunt for Thanksgiving Dinner. I'm looking forward to Pecan Pie!! Yummy!

Dandelion,

Yes, the pecan pie was delicious. :D We actually ended up eating at Cracker Barrell instead of Furr's. Pretty much the only thing I could eat there was off the breakfast menu ... so I got french toast (yum!) sweet potato casserole, and eggbeaters eggs. I asked for powdered sugar (french toast) and they didn't have any! Boo Hiss! They had two kinds of pecan pie - regular and chocolate. I thought about getting the chocolate kind, but decided to be purist and get the regular. :)

Thursday

I did allow myself some treats - such as a coke in the morning (12oz), some Hershey minis (5 or 6), marshmallows on sweet potatoes (part of lunch), and then of course the pecan pie for dessert. But otherwise all my meals were one plate (or virtually so). Not a wild day at all. (Oh, I did have a part of a pumpkin pie slice - it was a sugar free one though.)

My mom didn't think I'd be able to eat everything I ordered (2 slices French Toast; two eggs scrambled, and side dish sweet potato casserole) because Wednesday night I'd eaten less than she did! She even said that it seemed like I'd been eating less than her - which I thought was pretty funny. :)

Friday

It was nice to get back to the structure of not thinking about what sweets I could eat today. Last night around 11 I was actually in the kitchen wondering what I could eat - then realized that I wasn't really even hungry, and that Saturday was only a day away.

I ate a late brunch and then supper, and that will probably be it for today. I loved staying in bed till past 10 a.m. today. I don't envy the Black Friday shoppers one bit getting up at the crack of dawn!!

We had french toast for breakfast :)

We participate in 'Buy Nothing Day'. We went for a walk, ate what was on hand, hung out around the house and didn't buy a thing.

Buy Nothing day works. :)

Saturday/Sunday

I learned the secret to how to NOT have an idiotic S weekend. What is it? Why, keep yourself very, very busy!

Yesterday I spent the majority of my day either at church or at the no kill animal shelter, and then on the phone with various people. Today, I got up late and had a nice warm meal of oatmeal w/peanut butter/brown sugar/maple syrup and whipcream, a cornbread muffin and a banana. Then I went and helped clean a gym location which will be closing for good tomorrow --- for six hours!

All in all, I didn't have much time to think about food, let alone EAT it! :D

Oh, and yesterday I had a most delicious S treat for lunch. It was a chocolate fudge mint brownie from the frozen section at Walmart (walmart brand). A fairly small portion - a bit bigger than a cupcake. But so, so, so, scrumptious!

I didn't get in my daily walk with the dogs today. By the time I got home it was dark, rainy and *cold*. I also was about plumb beat from having been on my feet and working hard for six hours! Tomorrow I'll try to do a little longer one to make up for it to them. :)

Monday

Ugh. Did not feel well at all today. I had three meals, but they were a lot less than I normally would eat. I took a two-hour nap this afternoon, and may go back to bed again here soon.

In thinking ahead to December and NWS days ...

Dec. 15 - NWS day (my birthday)
Dec. 16 - celebrating b-day with my mom - may allow an S event
Dec. 22 - picked up from airport by brother who I haven't seen in nearly two years + airplane traveling - def. NWS day, but controlled. Will also probably be doing a combined celebration of both of our birthdays.

Dec. 23 - Jan 3 - I am planning on allowing myself the choice of having one S event on the weekdays without calling it a failure. If I *do* choose to have an S event, it will be thought out ahead of time (deciding if it's worth it) and not spur of the moment.

Jan 4 - Back to vanilla No-S.

This also works for me on N days, LOL.

I've also been sick with a cold - would not recommend it - hope you're able to fend off whatever is causing you not to feel well. Good for you for planning ahead for the month of December.

Girl Next Door,

I think that's what I have - a cold. I felt much better today, but was achooing a good bit! :)

Yep, keeping very, very busy helps on N days as well. :D

Tuesday

I was reminded of a very favorite food of mine that seems to be found most easily during the holidays -- Terry's Chocolate Orange! YUM! If I can find one on Friday (when I grocery shop) then I know what my S weekend treat will be - Oh Yeah!

Wednesday

It's *cold* here in Texas! We had our first snow of the season last night/this morning, although it didn't last very long.

Today was another two meal day. I was so focused on finishing my term paper for this one class, that food didn't even occur to me till after I'd uploaded it and had the dogs begging me to take them on a walk. :)

Breakfast was oatmeal, stripples (vegge bacon), and a banana.

Lupper was a medium sweet potato, 3/4 cup or so of Bush's Vegetarian Baked Beans, slice of swiss cheese, and sour cream. Yummy!

(Do you notice the theme here? Foods that are *warm*!!)

Friday

I'm looking forward to my S treat this weekend - a chocolate orange. Otherwise, I won't be doing much other than maybe adding whip cream to my hot cocoa and oatmeal. :)

I'm really glad I was able to have a full green week. I wasn't sure what was going to happen after having an NWS day plus two S days nearby. That is part of what threw me off for a bit near the end of August. I think though the difference is that I have had much longer to build up the habits of N days, so throwing in an extra NWS day was truly a treat - but not a derailer.

This makes me hopeful for my upcoming vacation - that I will be able to allow myself a little deviation (i.e. one s event max per N day) without completely losing my momentum.

:D :D Yep. I think it's truly becoming a habit. It will be truly tested though over the next few weeks with birthday celebrations and vacationing at two homes where treats are left out constantly. :) But I'll make it.

Thursday
Friday

Another 5 greens down. Yay! :)

I am completely finished with two of my classes, and this weekend I will be taking a 3 hour (time limit) practice exam for the third class, and then be finished with it. Then I'll be free from school work till Jan. 19!

TOM decided to visit late this month, so it'll be interesting what my official WI is tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too affected - I've been trying to keep my sodium intake low, and my water intake high. That usually helps, esp. with TOM weigh ins. :)

Had to check in with y'all to share my weigh in this morning. :D

..... 233.8!!!!!! Woo Hoo!

That means that in nearly five-months of No-S, I have lost approximately 13 pounds. That is an average of 2.6 lbs a month, which is just fine and dandy with me.

I forgot to mention last night. Yesterday I had an embarrassing moment where I ... broke a toilet seat.  But then later, I had a good moment where someone out of the blue told me that I looked like I had lost weight. :)

Have a great day!

Monday
Tuesday.
Wednesday

Tuesday was my birthday, so an NWS day. I ate way too much junkfood, and my stomach let me know it Tuesday night. The funny thing is, is that the amount of junk I ate, wasn't really a lot compared to what I might have eaten before No-s on a regular day. My system just is getting used to not having that much sugar in it.

Today, the celebration of my birthday continued, and I allowed myself an S event. I think I would've been just fine without it, and am not really even sure why I took it - maybe because I'd pre-planned doing it?

Mom and I went to Costco today. I wanted to get a 10 pack of Rice Dream there, and I don't have a membership. I'm not sure I like going there with her. It makes me kind of sad to watch her go up to all the sample booths. She keeps asking me if I want some of the samples ... at one booth she went back and said the second sample was for her daughter ... ugh.

Towards the registers there was a fudge booth, selling fudge and giving away samples. She'd gotten several pieces of samples, and then brought over two boxes of fudge. One to give to stepdad, and one to send to my brother. We got in line, and then she left and went back to the sample table. I got up to the front, and she was still there at the sample table. I had to run out of line and get her. :(

I'm glad to have two green days Thursday and Friday. It will be good to have my regular meals/schedule.

Happy Birthday, Laura!

Interesting observation about the amount of sugar. Did that surprise you? Even though I've been down the less-sweets road before it still always kind of surprises me.

Thanks GND. No, I can't say that it really surprised me all that much. I think our bodies tend to get used to what we give them - be it good, or not so good.

TEMPTATION CITY!!

But .... it was Thursday!

As I've said before, I work at a gym. Today I was there from 7:30 a.m. till 7 pm. 90% of the day there was no one else in the gym but me.

About 3 pm this afternoon, just after I'd finished lunch, one of our members walked in. She had a 12" plate completely filled with a HUGE slice of cake. It was big enough to easily feed 4 people good size pieces.

She told me that the management company had brought her company this oversized cake, and so she decided to bring me a piece of it. I knew what kind of cake she was talking about, because my former company had received a similar cake for our one-year anniversary in the building.

I told her thanks, and took the plate. I put it on the desk beside me. I looked at it, and looked at it. I smelled the icing. I stuck the fork in it and out of it. I thought about trying to take that huge plate home with me to save for the weekend. I thought about just throwing the whole plate away. But I really like that kind of icing. And part of it was chocolate cake. So I really didn't want to throw it all away. But I didn't want a red day - it would NOT be worth a red day.

So, I finally cut off a small piece of the chocolate cake portion, and most of the icing, and put it in a large styrofoam cup. Then threw the remainder away. Putting it in the cup I had to keep reminding myself to NOT lick my fingers (got icing on them in the process.) Somehow I managed to last nearly 4 hours with that cake sitting right beside me and not eating or tasting a crumb.

The thing is, I have this feeling that when it gets to Saturday and I take a couple bites, that is all I'm really even going to want of it.

No-S kept me strong today versus that cake!

Way to go, Laura! I think this was one of those "little" victories that show there's been a big change. I hope you enjoy that cake tomorrow!

Um ... I kind of overdid it this weekend with the sweets. Ugh.

Monday will be green, Tuesday is probably going to be an NWS day (airport traveling) Dec. 23 ... til Jan.3 ... I'm thinking that on vacation, instead of having Saturday and Sunday as full S days; as well as Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day as NWS days: instead I'm going to allow myself a total of 14 S events between Dec. 23 - January 3rd. About one per day (with two extra for Christmas Eve/Day; New Years). These S events are not to be mindless snacking, but a small dessert with a meal, or perhaps a small portion of a food between meals. I don't think I'll want to waste any of my S events on soda .. so that will be good.

I fit into two pairs of jeans that I haven't been able to wear since last May today ... would like to still be able to fit into them in January!

Well...

Monday, December 21 *was* green. I even managed to avoid tasting any of the cookies my mom was baking.

From December 22 until today, January 3 ... let's just say I didn't stick with only one or two S events per day.

I know I've put on weight these past two weeks. The jeans that two weeks ago were just slightly snug on me, are now uncomfortably snug.

The past two weeks consisted of eating out *a lot* and a constant flow of sweets. Most of my meals did consist of one-plate, but they were huge plates with huge portions + lots of snacking. My dad and grandma tend to eat only two meals a day, so I ended up eating a lot more than I normally would to make sure I had enough. And even when I was uncomfortably stuffed, I found myself reaching for the junk snacks.

What made all this worse, was that I hardly got any real exercise in at all these past two weeks.

I am extremely thankful to be back home again, and in charge of my own eating plans. I think I could live without eating out again till next Christmas!!

I think I'm not going to do my official January weigh-in until January 16 so that I'll have an extra week to recover from my excesses, and not be discouraged by a 4 or 5 pound regain.

So, tomorrow starts a new year of building the No-S habits!

Hi GND! :)

Wednesday

I have been feeling quite stressed the past few days. Even though I have a full bag of chocolate (Ghiradelli and Harry &David none the less!) I have not even been tempted. I've kind of gone in the opposite direction ... not eating 3 full meals. Probably not a terrible thing, considering all the extra calories over the holidays ... but not a good thing either

I think it's great that you've gone right back to No S after your vacation. When you can resist chocolate in times of stress, doesn't it make you feel like there's been a fundamental change? Congratulations!

Thanks Starla! Yes, I would definitely say that it is a fundamental change for me. Over vacation, I gave myself permission to "relax" the habits. Both because I had little control over meal times or where we ate, and because I wanted to see what would happen.

By about a week in, I was *longing* to be able to go back to 3 meals a day with no snacks - but it wasn't practical with all the traveling, plus being with people who are used to two huge meals a day. Now that I'm back, the habits are what have kept me from self-destructing under stress (which seven months ago, *would* have been my response!)

I am *so* thankful for No-S!

It's pretty amazing how much peace of mind the 3 meals a day no snacks habit can give you. The difference is so magnified when you go away from it.

Looks like you're getting back in to it pretty well after the holidays. I had a bit of a hard time on Monday, but since then it's been smooth sailing.

Yes, it really was pretty easy getting back into the habits.

And, this weekend, even though there was a pretty stressful day, AND I had permission to eat sweets ...was NOT an idiotic one!

I also did a pre-weigh in on Saturday ... just to see how bad off I was, and had a nice surprise. Up less than a pound from my December weigh in! So, if I work out hard this week, maybe I'll be able to have a maintain weight for January. :D

Monday
Tuesday

Monday was green, but mainly in defiance of the person causing me a lot of stress. It was late when I got home. I was not able to get into the kitchen (long story) until nearly 9, and then got a phone call.

I was *very* hungry, and **very** tempted to eat one of my Ghiradelli bars - because it was in my room easily accessible, and chocolate. But I told myself that there was NO WAY that I was going to let some *person* cause me to have a failure. So, about 10:20 I got a spoonful of peanut butter and had that for supper.

Today, I stopped at Taco Bell on the way home and picked something up.

By Thursday night, I should not have this issue any more! Can hardly wait!!!

I have, for all intents and purposes, moved into my new residence. My stress level, while not fully relieved yet, is definitely lower than it has been the last two weeks. While I'll no longer have the dogs to walk everyday, I will have several humans willing to walk with me most days - at a much faster speed than dog speed. :)

Tomorrow is my official January weigh in. I'm quite curious as to what it will say. I would love it if it shows a loss, but will be okay if it isn't a loss. I know that I have been eating within the good habits, and as long as I keep on doing that, the loss will come.

Yesterday I did my official January weigh-in ... 231 lbs! That is 2.8 lbs less than my December weigh-in. I had to step on the scale 5 times to make sure I was seeing the numbers right. I am *so* close to being in the double 2's again, I can almost taste it! Maybe my February weigh-in .... :D

Thanks GND!

I was really surprised to see that much of a loss. I think it mostly has to do with the non-eating of the stress filled past couple of weeks. Most of my N days were two meals + a very minuscule 3rd meal.

Monday

I chose to make today a NWS day. I went out to lunch and a movie with a good friend and her two children whom I hadn't seen since September. We ate at Ci Ci's Pizza. Other than eating seconds and sweets at lunch, I did not deviate from a normal N day.

Hi GND!

Well, it started out well. Monday and Tuesday; but then ... Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. :(

I slipped on Wednesday - had a major chocolate attack, and then the little crabby monster convinced me that since I'd had one red day, may as well enjoy the rest of the week.

Ugh.

I will be back to all green next week though. No if's, ands or buts about it!

I want to make the double twos by my next official weigh-in! (And of course I don't want to lose the good habits I've built!!)

Sigh.

Monday
Tuesday

I really wish I knew what was going on with me. I had weeks and weeks of 5 green days in a row. Then the holidays ... but I came back and had two (or was it three?) weeks of straight green days. And yet, last week I had 3 reds. Then today.

And its not even just the red days. It's the exercise too. That's going downhill fast.

Since moving I've been eating a lot more in general - but a lot more bread specifically. I don't know if that has anything to do with anything or not, but I don't like the way I'm seeing this going right now.

Sigh. I guess the only thing to do is make sure tomorrow is a green day. This week can be a 4 green day week!

The last few weeks have been a sea of red. :( I have regained 5lbs. :( :(

As of tomorrow, I am back on track. I think, since I got so far off track lately, that I'm going to do another 21 day counting streak. Once I've completed one round, then hopefully I'll be completely back on habit and can do without the counting.
