Queencushion's check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Queencushion's check in

Post by queencushion » Wed Mar 02, 2011 10:10 pm

This is my very first check in so am not completely sure how I do it but need to have some accountability so wanted to get on here. Thing is, today has been a big fat FAIL day and I so didn't like seeing that red square on my habitcal, particularly as I'm new here! What happened to beginner's enthusiasm?!
I won't go into detail: suffice to say that there was a lot of grazing and then a 'well I've blown it so why not?' mini binge on chocolatey stuff. Back of my mind thinking: just hang on till Saturday! Front of my mind saying: just have it now!! It's lent next week: you always give up chocolate in lent... Endless food conversations that are only ever going to end in eating.
So: tomorrow will be a green day, even tho i'm going out for dinner, and I'll check in again. Is this what I should do? And should I cut one of my exempt days to make up for today?

I don't think you should change your S days because you had a failure. Just try to make tomorrow better.
