Herbsgirl's check in

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Your menu is fit for a King's buffet! Wow! You're a great cook then.

I was just thinking how hard it is for mothers who spend so much time preparing and serving food. We're just so involved with food. It's really hard (for me) to be in the kitchen so much and not munch. Thank G-d for No S diet because that was the boundary that I needed, for sure. Yes S days are harder because I don't have any boundaries except the protests from my tummy.

Hope you enjoy every luscious bite of your glorious food!!

Today I stepped on the scales and saw 152.8!!!!! 2.8 lbs to goal, God willing!! I am excited!

Thank you automatedeating and chani8! I enjoy cooking and baking for my family. I used to eat constantly while cooking and baking, no wonder I was over 65 lbs heavier !! Every bite counts! Every lick of batter and taste of soup!

I have hopes God willing to have my maintenance plan with

N days (counting bites) mon-Friday
S days (still counting bites but more bites allowed) Saturday-Sunday
Capital S mealsCheat meals (no counting anything just a meal/time to eat) 1-2 times a month
Capital S days (no counting anything) 4 days per year

I'm not sure how often I will have a cheat meal with maintenance. Probably 1 cheat meal every 2-4 weeks?

This gives me a PLANNED OPPURTUNITY to have an all out S meal or day but not too many. (2 all out S days a week kept vanilla No S from working for me. In the past)[/b]

NoSnacker...Thank you so much!! :D

Chani8- I think restrictions (mods) on S days is the only way I can do it, and with counting bites and eating slow really helps along the way to keep my portions exactly where I need to be at that moment with my eating.... For others, Vanilla No S with no restricitions work just fine. I guess each person has to figure out what works best for them!

I re-named my some of the days on my Maintenance Plan to be Capital S days and Capital S meals

N days (counting bites and 3 meals a day) mon-Friday
S days (still counting bites but more bites allowed 3-4 meals a day) Saturday-Sunday
Capital S meals (no counting anything just a meal/time to eat) 1-2 times a month
Capital S days (no counting anything) 4 days per year

Reinhard talks about Capital S days and/or meals in one of his podcasts I listened to!!

Ive changed 3 things about my eating this week...I am eating at certain times.... I changed my 5 hour eating window to 8 hour eating window.... and I am eating more Bites!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!! From 15 to 30 bites!!!! I am thinking that this will help me to be able to eat nice meal with my family of 18 bites in the evening! I have all day to cook and plan what we will eat and make it as fancy as I want. I also started exercising earlier this week. The earlier I exericse, the better I get along with having 5 children in the house!

Todays eating plan 8 hour eating window 12 Noon- 8 PM

around 8 AM- 4 miles of Leslie Sansone advanced walk holding close to 4 lbs in wieghts

Lunch 12:00-12:15
7 bites

Snack 3:00-3:15 PM
5 Bites

Supper 6:00 PM- 6:15 PM OR when family eats
18 bites

aprox 30 bites total

I got on the scales this morning and I saw 152!!!!

Automatedeating- :D

Today is another moderate day. I wonder how long it will take me to get off these last two pounds with almost doubling my bite count from 15 to 30 bites a day. I was losing an average of 3 lbs or more with 15 bites on N days so I should lose at least a pound a week doing this?

Im still exercising and hoping to go to 3 lbs on each hand/arm while walking!

Hi! I am excited about the new free weight Maintenance Tool I just started last night! Its calledhttps://trendweight.com/ and it has a special mode for weight maintenance!

I can also share my charts with other people!

Here is all my weights scince I started...

https://trendweight.com/u/cd1f67ad57c04c/chart/6m.png

As you can see from my 4 week chart, I am dipping into my maintenance blue shaded area

https://trendweight.com/u/cd1f67ad57c04c/chart/4w.png

And once you reach your goal, keep weighing yourself every day. TrendWeight will show a goal range that is 2.5 pounds above and below your goal weight so that you can more easily see if your weight starts to creep up too high and you need to go back to the techniques that helped you lose weight in the first place.
And this from the hacker's diet website explains how to exactly stay in a 5 lb range to keep at maintenance weight.

My goal weight is 150 lbsm so my 5 lb maintenance range is 147.5 to 152.5

http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/e4/forever.html

Causes for confidence

Consider how you, having achieved your weight goal from an understanding of the rubber bag, feedback, and how the trend reveals the true balance of calories, differ from a dieter ignorant of all these “gory details,†who, seeing his target weight appear on the scale assumes success is at hand and appetite back in command.

You're armed with data, charts, and direct personal experience that tell you precisely how your body works. You don't have to trust any book, especially this one. You've devised a diet plan of your own, seen for yourself how it worked, and used it to achieve a long term goal many people never attempt.

You've survived an unpleasant experience, shedding weight, and there's no motivation quite so strong as the desire to never endure that again.

You've learned, by riding out the most difficult days of your diet, the distinction between real hunger and simply wanting to eat. You understand how portions at meals must be controlled to match calorie needs, not by a sense of feeling “full†while still at the table.

You've stabilised your weight near the goal you set for yourself. Permanent weight control is now just a matter of preserving this stability.

You're beginning to think of yourself as thin and healthy; these attributes are becoming part of your sense of self. Before long you won't consider forfeiting them any more than you'd contemplate cutting off a finger.

How can you guarantee you'll never regain the weight you lost? Suppose your weight goal is 150 pounds and your appetite feedback curve is the disastrous one shown above. If you rely on your appetite alone, every time you eat too little you'll get an unmistakable signal to eat more, but overeating raises no warning. Overeating actually tends to make you eat more, since once your weight begins to creep upward you'll get depressed and seek solace in food. When you end your diet at 150 pounds, you're treacherously balanced on the flat part of the curve there. As long as you stay close to 150 all will be well. You're like the backwards-wired thermostat which didn't cause a problem as long as the temperature stayed close to 70 degrees. Eating too little is no problem; smooth negative feedback tells you to eat more. But inevitably, sooner or later, you'll eat a little too much: over the holidays, at a party, or when you can't gauge portion sizes accurately. Then, as your weight begins to creep upward, the malign influence of positive feedback takes command, and weight gain begets additional overeating in a process that literally feeds upon itself.

The initial overeating that set off the destructive feedback loop was probably an isolated incident, not a permanent change in diet. It may even have been inadvertent, the result of additional calories added to a regular meal or reduced physical activity unaccompanied by lower calorie intake. The correction needed to restore balance is usually small and easy to make. But if the slow creep upward isn't spotted and arrested in time, before long you've gained 10 or 15 pounds and you're in a real mess. Losing that much weight requires a serious diet and the very thought of going back on a diet, particularly so soon after the last one, is hard to entertain. The temptation to abandon weight control is tremendous once things have gotten this far out of hand; you're well on your way to giving back all the gains of your diet.

The problem, clearly, is lack of feedback. You need continual guidance to achieve an accurate calorie balance week after week, month after month, year after year. And we know just how to do that! The very same trend calculation and charts that tracked the calorie deficit during your diet can now guarantee stable weight forever. All you need to do is adjust your meals not for a calorie deficit, but to balance the calories you eat with the calories you burn.

To control your weight you set limits to the fluctuation of the trend and plan specific actions whenever the trend line impinges on a limit. As when dieting you only consider the trend; daily weight is used solely to calculate it. The band is a 5 pound region centred around your goal weight; this encompasses the normal week to week variation. There's no need to be obsessed with a perfectly constant trend line; a couple of pounds more or less aren't really noticeable and in any case are swamped by day to day changes in weight. If your weight goal is 150 pounds, the band ranges from 147.5 to 152.5, shown as dashed lines on the chart. As long as the trend is within this range, there's no reason to change what you're eating. Eat whatever you like, consistent with the calorie burn rate you determined at the end of your diet
By using the trend to adjust food intake, we have implemented a very different feedback system. As weight varies within the 5 pound band around the goal, 150 pounds here, it is subject to only a minor degree of feedback, applied by monthly adjustments to what you eat based on the slope of the trend line. If you choose not to bother with such small adjustments, the floor of the feedback curve from 147.5 to 152.5 pounds will be flat and your weight completely free to vary within that band.

Once the trend ends a month outside the 5 pound band but within the brick walls, calorie consumption is adjusted. The size of the adjustment is determined from the calorie excess or deficit indicated by the trend. Thus, when the trend strays outside the band it encounters negative feedback proportional to the calorie imbalance that caused it to diverge. This feedback, shown as a steeper line outside the 5 pound band, should normally return the trend to within the band in short order.

If, for whatever reason, the feedback invoked when the band is crossed doesn't have the intended effect, the trend will sooner or later hit the brick wall. When this happens, bang-bang negative feedback is triggered to ensure the trend is quickly reversed and brought back to the goal. Resuming a meal plan already proven effective for losing weight (or adding comparable calories if the trend hits the brick wall below the weight goal), provides absolute assurance the trend cannot slip out of control. This constitutes very strong negative feedback that kicks in when the brick wall is hit, shown by the steep rise in the feedback curve at that threshold.

The rules of the game

The adjustments to what you eat based on the trend's relationship to the goal weight are as follows.

More than 5 pounds above goal. You've hit the high brick wall. Immediately resume the meal plan you used to lose weight and stay on it until the trend falls to less than the goal weight.

Between 2.5 and 5 pounds above goal. The trend has risen above the band. Reduce your calorie consumption by cutting out food slightly more than the calorie excess reported on recent trend charts.

Within 2.5 pounds of the goal. No adjustment is required. You can, if you wish, fine tune the trend by adding or subtracting food equal to the deficit or excess reported in the last month's trend chart.

Between 2.5 and 5 pounds below goal. The trend has fallen below the band. Increase your calorie consumption by slightly more than the deficit reported on recent trend charts.

More than 5 pounds below goal. You've hit the low brick wall. Start with the meal plan you used to achieve stable weight at the end of your diet, then add an additional 250 to 500 calories per day. If, at the end of the next month, you're still more than 5 pounds below the goal, add even more calories to your meal plan.

I believe this plan can be incorporated right into my bite counting very easily. If my trend starts going up, simply decrease bites a bit. If it starts going down, simply increase bites a bit! I already believe firmly in weighing daily or nearly so is very important, and this will help me. Add into the fact that I plan to do Stickk.com Maintenance Weight Contracts, God Willing, when I get to my goal. If I set my maintenance weight to not get higher than 152.5, I have my 5 lb range to go back and forth in! Todays eating plan 8 hour eating wind ... tes total

Sounds like a great plan! For me the hardest part was determining what my maintenance intake should be to stop losing. Good luck figuring that out. It's interesting to see how much we really can eat as long as we stay active. When sick or too busy to workout, I had to cut back. Anyway, enjoy figuring all this out. :)

Dhack-Thanks for your kind words! :D

Its been 4 months today scince Ive started! My stomach has shrunk a lot! I get full on 25 bites instead of 60 bites!

I am excited about a new exercise program I can incorportate into Leslie Sansone walks. It uses hand weights and its an old, old program from the 80's. Its called Heavy Hands. It was printed just before I was born!
It burns a lot more calories than just walking an d holding weights, and I think it will help my mood and maintain my weight, my main goals with exercise.

Was 151 lbs when I stepped on the scales this morning! 1 pound to my goal, God willing! https://trendweight.com/u/cd1f67ad57c04c/

Today is an S day! Up to 4 eating occasions and 40 bites allowed!!!!!!! I am still losing at 30-40 bites a day so looking forward to seeing how many bites maintenance is!

I am doing the Heavy Hands techniques, sort of gradually introducing them into my walking workouts. IT can DOUBLE or TRIPLE calorie burn and also builds alot of muscle! Just what I need for maintenance!

Hi Herbsgirl! Sounds like you are enjoying your extra bites. :)
You have a cool plan for upping the intensity of your walks using weights--that's a great way to avoid having to work out longer.
Have a wonderful week.

I agree, the weights are awesome!! I use a backpack with sand in it to increase the workout, so if you get too strong for those dumbbells, you could try that. Some people use a weighted vest, but they're expensive I think.

Enjoy building those muscles! You're AWESOME!!

Automatedeating and Chani8- thanks for stopping by! I plan to get a weight vest eventually!

I reached my Goal Weight TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! 149.8 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already made my Stickk.com contract for how many bites I comitted to eat this week, so I will have to start closer to maintenance bites on my next contract!

I also hope to make a video soon. If anyone wants a picture of me at my goal, go to the No S diet group on Facebook. I posted a picture there this morning!

I also hope to make a No S testemonial, on the testemonial forum, but it might take me a little bit to do it!

Maintenance days have arrived! You certainly met your goal of 150 before your daughter's first birthday!

You better not go anywhere.......as Reinhard always says, "maintenance is more important than progress." Or something like that....

Congratulations and thanks for continuing to share your story.

148 lbs https://trendweight.com/u/cd1f67ad57c04c/ It looks like my wieght might fall below the goal wieght range, but that is ok, I will find the amount of bites that is perfect for me eventually. It is important that I stay faithful to my commitment contracts, and that is staying on HABIT!!! When you get into the habit of STAYING ON HABIT, thats what counts, thats when you see RESULTS! Its all about being faithful Day in and Day out!

I am still on my stickk commitment this week for 30 bites a day on N days, so I will probably up it to 35-38 bites or more next week for my next commitment for N days and 50-60 bites or more for regular S days Saturday and Sunday and I also plan on having a Capital S day (no counting) next week. Whoo Hoo! I dont know if I will have 4 or maybe even 6 Capital S days a year. Just have to see how Maintenance goes!

The Intensity of my exercise is really increasing as fast as I am still losing, I must be burning ALOT of calories! Using the HeavyHands Techniques for the whole hour I exercise is supposed to burn around 780 calories! That would help a ton with Maintenance and overall health! Its almost kind of fun to keep challenging myself with exercise!! I am doing 2 minutes 20 seconds and hope to keep upping it until I am doing HeavyHands for almost the whole hour, God willing. People say it helps them stay fit and trim and Maintain their wieght for years!

Alot of poeple have been messaging me and asking me how to start counting bites so I have created a FAQ blog post called Where do I start? I will be updating and editing it for a while probably!

Making a new stickk commitment for next week today! I ordered two new Lesllie Dvds from the library. I figured I might as well borrow some from the library too!

I am doing alot of research on the science of weight Maintenance

So far I am noticing alot of articles/studies have alot in common

-Strict tracking of food/calories (in my case bites) (I already do this)

-Planning what you will eat AHEAD of time (I already do this, at least planning exactly how MUCH I will eat)

-some places say 30 others say 60-90 minutes of good exercise daily (I already do 48-60 minutes daily)

-strength training AND cardio both needed for weight maintenance (I already do this)

-Refuse to Regain book says to have a few smaller meals/snacks and ONE BIG meal daily. (I already do this...i have 2 smaller meals and ONE BIG evening meal with my family)

-Refuse to Regain says to have some treat(s) daily. (I already do this...I allow myself sweets daily if I want them usually. That way I never feel deprived...but I usually only eat a few bites or so at once. Sometimes I might have up to 5-6 bites or more of something sweet, but if I wasnt counting, I would have 3-6 times that much!!!)

Did you guys know that ONE extra bite every single day for 20 YEARS equals 100 extra pounds gained WOW!!! Talk about the importance of even one single little bite!!!!!!!!!

Today is an S day!!!!!!! Next week my N days are 35 bites and my S days 45 bites, I am also planning a Capital S day for next Saturday!!!! Whoo Hooo! Obviously I am still losing weight at a pretty rapid pace, so I will be adding in extra bites slowly week by week until I get stabilized in my goal range which is 147.5 to 152.5 lbs... I have read not to add food back into too much too quick, its best to do it slowly and it can take months to find the exact amount of calories--in my case--bites that keeps me right in my goal range!!!!!!!

Thanks for commenting! How many miles a day do you do? Do you use Walk boosters? I am always trying to boost the intensity gradually it seems. I feel like her walks with weights are what helps keep my mood up and more stable!

Thanks Marianna!

For the eat SLower Pro app question.....Go to the bottom of your screen on the main page with a picture of a plate. You will see a clock icon at the bottom in the middle. Click on the little clock icon. This pulls up a menu where you can turn sound on and off and you can also turn vibrate on and off easily. :) it's not in the settings menu.

Let me know if you find it!

ahhh. That was my problem! the clock immediately disappears when you open the app! it is just a blank screen--I had no idea that you could touch that blank place for more info. They really ought to make that clear. thank you so much, it will be less embarrassing to use it when I eat out.

question for you! Looking back over the weeks that you lost, I notice that you went really really low on your bite number for awhile--days when you essentially had 5 bites per meal. I've been reading the 5 bite stuff, and I get why they are doing that, but I also see that you increased your number of bites up to around 30 or so, even before getting to goal. I'm not sure I ever want to go as low as 5/per, but instead want to stay around 10-15 per. I also exercise daily, as I notice you do. Is that the reason you increased your bites? It didn't appear to interfere with your weight loss--Thanks for the help with this.

Hi! I went lower with my bites because I wanted to lose weight at a certain pace, ect. But I started adding in exercise, and I started upping the intensity of my exercise before I upped my bites much.... That's probably why I have not noticed much of a drop in weight loss :D

For example, I started out with around 1 lb weights in my hands earlier in January, while doing leslie sansone walks (lifting arms, clapping, punching ect are some examples of how my weighted arms/hands are moving while walking)

My 15 week update says I was using 2 lbs on my hand/arm

Somewhere around 16-17 weeks I went to 3 lbs each hand/arm

and now I am even adding in Heavyhands

(I mentioned it above...it burns 700-800 calories plus per /hour/workout)

I started out with a few minutes of heavyhands and I am adding 10-15 seconds a day, working it into my weighted arm 4 mile workouts I am already doing....

I think this is a good probability of why my weight loss hasn't dropped much, even though I am eating more bites! My calorie burn is probably just going higher and higher!

On the other hand, I will have to agree with you. I think 10-15 bites did what I needed it to do...it got the weight off. BUT I couldn't stay there long term, I needed more bites!

I think it might be more reasonable to just keep the bite number at 20-30 bites OR MORE per day (depending on what bite number works for each individual person) and just up the intensity of the exercise, ect if the weight loss decreases too much or one hits a plateau! :D

You are doing great! Every persons "bite count" might be different for that individual person because everyone's diet and food they eat is different, and some people want to lose fast, some moderate, and some slow!

My Wieght today 146.2 lbs

Today marks 1 week in Maintenance Mode. As you can see I am still losing. I added in 5 bites per day this week and Saturday is my first Capital S day in Maintenance Mode! I hope and plan to have 4-6 Capital S days a year, and 1? Capital S meal a month as of now.

I once read of a doctor who wrote a book called

The Power of the Bite: Impressive Weight Loss One Bite at a Time

Even though I don't necessarily agree about eating low cal foods all the time, ect, the basic principle of The Bite is still great! He says even 1/4 lb week loss is still great! Every bite counts, is the basic jest of the book, and its interesting how just leaving a few bites off of your sandwich or meal adds up over time and equals pounds lost! He tells how many bites not eaten aprox equal how many pounds over a period of time

This ties into the HABIT CONCEPT also, little things (less bites, counting bites , eating 3 meals a day, exercise, ect) done over and over, over a period of time add up to pounds lost, pounds maintained, ect ect!

Link at the bottom for a youtube video of the doctor!

Wow! You are a sliver of your former self! Do you have a second goal in mind? An endpoint? You may have to start adding bites!

Yes, I have a systematic way of evaluating my bite count Once a week and making a new bite goal for each day once a week on Friday or Saturday for the coming week. I already made my bite goal for this week, last week on Stickk.com commitment contracts. :D Thats why I am still sticking with 35 bites a day Monday through Friday this week...

Adding food/bites back in slowly is the way to go once you get to maintenance I have read because if you do it too fast, you might start gaining.

Obviously I could have upped it more than 5 bites per day last week when I made my commitment but thats ok, its a learning process :D

My plan is to just add my bites slowly week by week until my weight stabailizes in my 5 lb weight range 147.5 to 152.5 lbs. From what I have read, it can take a while to learn the exact amount of food that it takes for each individual person to stay in thier range :D I am also doing once a month no-count meals (Capital S meals) and 4-6 times a year No-Count Days (Capital S days) My blog tells more about my maintenance plan http://countyourbites.blogspot.com/2014 ... -week.html

Im ok with it taking a while, Making commitments keeps me consistant week in and week out and I can see where I need to add, take away ect better than just jumping around from day to day :)

As of now, I dont have a goal below my 5 lb range (147.5 to 152.5) I guess that could change, but Im sticking with that for now!

I am excited about my Capital S day coming up in a few days on Saturday! We have some restaurants in mind, and we are going shopping that day! I wanted Old Country Buffet for lunch, Chinese for Supper and Culvers for Icecream!

My stomach is tiny compared to what it used to be and I just cant eat what I used to, even with no bite/ or slow eating limits!

I think planned Capital S days and meals will help me stay on track for the long term better! Im not sure when my next Capital S day will be...I am thinking my Birthday which is June 1st, might be my next Capital S day, God willing.

Maybe in a week or two I can have a date night with Dear Husband for my March Capital S meal. Im not sure if I want to do 1 or 2 times a month for my Capital S meals, Iwill have to see how Maintenance goes for me!

My 10 and 11 year old are going with Grandpa and Grandma to Indiana tonight for a Family Get together.

149 lbs https://trendweight.com/u/cd1f67ad57c04c/

Im in my goal maitenance range now! Im trying to decide, I might want my goal wieght lower than 150. I might want it just a pound or two less than that, but we will see. I want to be realistic for the long term keeping it off. I dont want something too hard to achieve and MAINTAIN reasonably! Anybody can get to any skinny wieght. But MAINTAINING LONG TERM is the important thing!!!! ;D

Im not sure if 40 bites is too many or not, I will re-evaluate on Friday to decide if I want to keep it at 40 or go less or more! My DH thinks it will be around 50-60 to stabalize my wieght in Maintenance, but I guess I will see!

Wieght below 5 lb Maintenance Range (147.5-152.5)

My new Maintenance Plan for Maintenance Week 4 is up on my blog here

http://countyourbites.blogspot.com/2014 ... eek-4.html

Today I am making cheddar chowder with ham chunks, fresh oatmeal rolls made with steel cut oats, egg boats, tossed salad with croutons and Pumpkin pie bars for supper. I really enjoy cooking/baking and I try to be frugal and use up leftovers too in all kinds of ways--baked goods, muffins, make a new dish ect.

I started a new cookbook and put plastic sheet protectors in it. It has Universal Recipes where you can use all kinds of ingredients, what you have on hand ect. Some are from the tightwad Gazette, Amy Dacyzyn , and some are from various sources online...

Universal Bread Recipe, Universal Create-a-Muffin Recipe, Universal Quiche, Universal Pilaf, Chinese Fried Rice (this uses up veggies and leftover rice), Create-a-soup ect....

I made some cinnamon/raisin swril bread and the kids liked it. It had leftovers in it! ;) They ate it toasted with butter!

I am getting close to my maintenance bites I believe! I am finding that I like my body closer to 145 or so better than 150. I might change my maintenance goal range sometime after my next commitment contract. I don't want to ever have a goal weight ABOVE 150 minimum, but I believe I should be allowed to make my goal weight a bit lower sometimes if I want to. My stick.com maintenance contract is for 4 weeks and will be up here in a week or so, so I might change it then. I don't know if I will change it a pound at a time, or what. Want to be reasonable!

Herbsgirl, what is your estimate about how many calories are in typical 45 bites? I remember some sort of discussion about that a few months back, but I forget what it was.
Month/Year-BMI
8/13-26.3
8/14-24.5
5/15-26.2
1/16-26.9; 9/16-25.6
8/17-25.8; 11/17-26.9
3/18-25.6; 8/18-24.5; 10/18-23.8;
3/19-22.1; 10/19-21.8
6/20-22.5; 7/20-23.0; 9/20-23.6
4/21 - 25.2

Today I changed my goal wieght to be 2 lbs less 148 lbs for the next month starting March 17th. I seem to be happier with my body size when I am closer to 145, so I am going to TRY it for 4 weeks or so and see how it goes! Might go back to 150, dont know, have to see how it goes! My new goal weight range is 145.5 to 150.5 (2.5 lbs above and below 148) I may even go lower but making changes slowly and cautiously is best. 148 puts me at a BMI of 23.9 which is healthy!

I just stopped by to see how you're doing and you are doing just great!! I love your maintenance plan, and see that you're eating three spaced apart meals which is so good for the tummy.

I'm going to have to rethink my menu plans to start getting more calories for my bites because apparently overeating as well as eating too much fiber hasn't been good for me. When I figured it out about myself, I thought of you and how few bites you take, but that you said you eat calorie rich foods. It's a new goal of mine to try to eat that way.

Chani8-Thanks for stopping by! Yeah I think if we stretch our stomachs out with too much, I read it makes us hungrier ect... The 80 bites program explains it on their website about how larger amounts of even healthy foods is not good because it stretches our stomachs out!

kids are sick, I am sick! I am taking 3-4 cloves of garlic with each meal, and I'm not counting it as in my bites because its a "medicine" for me, I wouldnt be gagging it down so to speak if I didnt have this virus! My husband dont like it, but he agreed to let me do it. I had pnemonia last fall and it came on fast from a virus. I dont want pnemonia again! It was so bad they almost could have put me in the hospital. I am very sensitve to herbs and such, so I am sticking with garlic. I already drank all my Sambucus Elderberry.

Kids and hubby and baby are taking the natural stuff around the clock. It takes diligence to kick the viruses even with natural stuff. You gotta give it several times a day!

S DAY S DAY S DAY! 55 bites today. DH is taking me to Subway to try their new sandwich that has corn chips on it. I finally started feeling better after Starting Jini Patel Thompson's Oregano Oil Protocol for Viruses. It works like an antibiotic from the doctor, its a 7 day protocol. I suspision I might have had an infection, but the oregano seems to be getting rid of it. Just gotta be consistent with it.

For anyone that is interested the link is here, it really works and can be used for any virus, infection, bacterial or viral, flu, colds ect ect...

http://blog.listentoyourgut.com/wild-or ... swine-flu/

you take 5 drops oil of oregano every hour for 24 hours, then 10 drops every 3 hours for 48 hours, then 10 drops 3x day for 48 hours, then 5 drops 3x day for 2 days.

I started out using Oreganol, but now Im using NOW foods Oil of Oregano Blend 25%.

I am feeling better! DH is staying home with baby and the two youngest and I am taking me and two oldest and going to devotions/bible study this morning

I am thinking of starting some new blog posts /video series on counting bites. People have questions and stuff and it would also be a way to get the word out There. I know there are others out there somewhere that it would help.

Somebody is reading my blog! I have around 9000 views in about 7 or more countries! Whooo Hooo!

This week I am incorporating 2 prunes into one bite 3 times a day so I can be more regular in the bathroom. 6 prunes a day total TMI! I found out that Prunes actually help people lose weight by suppressing the appetite! And they keep blood sugar stable! Yay! Just what I need. So I am doing around a spoonful of peanut butter 3x a day usually and a spoonful of prunes 3x a day! And they are really good for you too! A win win situation!

AutomatedEating-Thank you! We had a nice time with family! Of course numerous poeple commented on my weight loss and ask me how I did it...The bite thing was a little different to explain, most people have never heard of it before!

Well we are back from our vacation! I got up early and exercised 4 miles every morning, I stayed within my bites I had planned! (45 N days 55 S days)

I want to make a Weight Maintenance Journal soon. I have found some good information online from Diet Hobby and 3 Fat Chicks forums and other websites that I want to compile some good information for myself.
It will be good to keep looking back over the reasons why, and all the good things that are proven to help people keep the weight off. (ie exercise, tracking, online support ect)

It is not quite as cold here in Wisconsin, hopefully spring will come soon! I started sewing a new dress yesterday, I think this will make around 13 skinny dresses in my closet so far! I can almost get burn out on sewing, but its fun to have new skinny dresses! ;D

I need to make some new videos for my youtube channel. I do better when I have alot of inspiration and motivation to do it. I havent did a video scince I got to my goal wieght.

Today is a Sunday, and and S day. My DH usually calls and listens to church. We had a little date night last night and went to Culvers. I enjoyed a small amount of a pork tenderloin and some Wisconsin Cheese Curds. I was disapointed in the Flavor of the day and only ate 4 bites or so of it, but thats ok.

Todays Lunch plan is homemade Swedish Meatballs in Sour Cream Sauce over noodles, carrots, homemade bread! Mmmmm!

Just think, I get to enjoy all these delicous homemade foods, just by limiting my portion size, and counting bites. I dont have to eat alot of "special foods". I do take Wheat grass, prunes and Peanut butter usually at each meal though, and that helps with Satiety and several fruits and veggie servings without using a large amount of my bites....

Thanks Tobiasmom! I DO feel better physcically and Mentally! I originally was so motivated to lose weight because I wanted off of depression medication. (I always taper off of it after each baby is born after being on it for several months for PPD ) It took me 7 months to taper from the medication and the weight loss, Intermittent Fasting, exercise and all the supplements I take made a HUGE Difference! Ive been off of Depression meds for almost 3 months now, and I pray to God that that these Lifestyle Changes will continue to help keep me stabalized mentally and keep my mood up`

knew I had to get healthy physically, lose weight and exercise to be healthy Mentally!

Exercise is like my drug of choice now. It really makes a difference in how I feel mentally and physically.

herbsgirl, I have read a number of clinical trials in which exercise was equally as effective at treating depression as medications, so I most definitely think you are on to something with using exercise as your "treatment". :)

And just in case you didn't know this--keeping fat a good percentage of your calories is important in keeping depression under control, as well.

Thanks for stopping by! I also have read clinical studies and articles about exercise and depression. It also helps OCD which I have too. :D Plus its good for my body, so many reasons to exercise! :)

One of the keys to Weight Loss and Weight Maintenance is Satiety...being satisfied from one Meal to the next. My prunes and wheatgrass help with that. Choosing food that promote satiety into our meals is a very good idea! Might as well make it easier on ourselves and be satisfied!

Here is some wisdom that pertains to No S, the habit concept, and weight Loss and Weight Maitenance! Its all about doing the same good habits over and over and over and over.... that's what makes the differenence in the long run!

Don't stop those habits, fellow No-Sers! Keep plugging on!

Quote from

http://meghannsmeltdown.squarespace.com ... -time.html

Someone who will make the change says: "I am figuring out what works for me" OR "I was not getting results so I altered the process...." OR "I have found that I really like the process of learning my body......" OR "It is a little slower this way, but I am slowly learning" OR "I know I can't ever go back to the way I lived and I don't want to......"

The differences in these statements illustrates whether the person has gotten the insight that real body change requires a permanent lifestyle switch. The idea that you are going to do something for a short period of time, go back to your old way and somehow maintain your result is a complete fallacy. NOTHING IN LIFE WORKS THAT WAY!

If you want real change then you need to understand what that means. Change is a complete alteration in the current way you live your life that is practiced forever. Change is a process you practice over and over. It occurs overtime as a result of you messing-up, falling down, figuring out and putting in the work. Change is messy and change is worth it. You will never be perfect at it and you will never be a master. Success comes in the pursuit of mastery

I changed my goal weight to 147 lbs and I made a 12 week Stickk.com Weight Maintenance Commitment contracts.

Two new blog posts up on my blog today

http://countyourbites.blogspot.com/2014 ... eek-8.html

I started some new supplements...wheat grass and Probiotics and I seem to be having some side effects or something. But I don't know which one for sure is causing it! More trial and error I guess. Probably too much detoxing and my brain cant handle it!

I found out its best not to drink during a meal, it helps digestion and it keeps your stomach shrunk! I think it helps keep my stomach a tiny little golf ball. I certainly feel really full, when I just drink a little water with my pills and thats all!

We are supposed to wait an hour after eating to drink

Today I am making my Maitnenance Plan for next week, I am increasing by one bite, to make it 46 bites. I am increasing exercise intensity and still an experemint to see how many bites is perfect. I want to make sure I am eating ENOUGH food too. ;) I am considering a Flex-bite plan sometime to try out that I can have fruits/vegetables and salad IF IF WANT TO, and in that case every 2 bites of that would equal 1 regular bite. I dont want it to get confusing, so I havent completely decided what to do. If its simple, its easier to stick too. I m afraid adding too many rules wouldnt be a good idea, but I want it to be flexible and workable to my desires and lifestyle.

Tommarow is my Capital S day,Lord willing! I wont be weighing for 3-4 days afterwards like I did in March. The only stipulation I have for Tomamrow is that I can only have 3-4 eating occasions, if I eat too often I cant enjoy my meals.

DH Is taking me to Old Country Buffet for one meal, and Im not 100% sure about the other meals.

I just dont enjoy crave food like I used too, maybe something is changing in my body?

I visited your blog a couple of weeks ago and decided to try your method for myself. I wondered if that could be the missing piece that would get things moving for me.

I haven't cut back nearly as much as you did, but even so, the results have been interesting. I'm going to write about them on my thread. I hope it keeps working!

Hi Dandelion! What method are you trying....bite counting? eating slowly?

Have you lost weight, do you feel better? :D Share your experience and results!!!

As for me, I had my Capital S day on Saturday and we went to Old Country Buffet, and I enjoyed all sorts of stuff, then we went to TGI Fridays for Supper and I enjoyed a bowl of icecream with Heath bar, peanut butter and Nacho chips on the side....

Today marks the day that I have been on this journey of Counting my Bites and Changing my Lifestyle, Eating Slower ect. 6 MONTHS! And in 3 days will be my 2 Month Weight Maintenance , Lord Willing....

Weight Maintenance is forever... and the commitment is day in and day out, no matter weather one is in the mood or not! ;)

Back to my N days and regular S days for another month. I only have Capital S days once a month
