No BS Here!

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Big congrats on fitting into your old jeans - that's great!

I can only hope that one day No S will be as 'leisurely' for me as it seems to be for you. Monday to Thursdays are generally routine and fine but I start struggling Friday evenings and on my S days. Although the weekends are getting less frantic and more controlled. So hoping to follow your lead

sleepgirlzzzz, I suspect the longer you maintain your balance and consistency during the week, the easier the weekends will eventually become. You'll eventually find that 5 days of normal/healthy eating makes your body realize that on the 2 other days it just doesn't feel good to eat weird anymore, your system crashes and can literally make you feel ill.

It just takes time, which (hopefully!) we all have plenty left of. I suspect patience and consistency over time will do it!

Thanks for your encouragement and words of wisdom. I have found that since starting No S, I start feeling a bit ill after eating a lot of sweets much earlier than I would have in the past. So as you say, hopefully with time it will all fall into place.

Have a great week!

Wow! I can't believe those crazy cold temperatures! Here in California it is 80F and I am still finding excuses not to walk the dog. Shame on me, you are motivating me to stop the excuses!

milczar, I can truly only dream of living in a warm place such as California!

You do get used to the cold. (It's a 'dry' cold!) The other morning it was -21C and to me, it was "warm", because the sun is shining, the sky is blue and there is no wind. So I walked the dogs in my "spring" jacket - an unlined cotton Woolrich special! And I was totally warm & comfortable.

I'm starting to think "temperature", like "fat", is an attitude you can adopt or dismiss at your convenience!! :D

SUNDAY MAY 12 - MOTHER'S DAY IN CANADA

Post by No BS » Mon May 13, 2013 1:32 am

Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous mom's out there!! Including my own dear sweet mom who has been gone many years now.

I'm taking a break from posting, but not from No"S" or my workouts.

I'll check back from time to time to say "hi" and see how everyone is doing.

Keep the faith! No "S" really is the answer. Now what was the question??!!

Thanks for all your kindness, support, humour & encouragement. It sure does help.

Wow, I can't believe you have those temperatures in May. Does it ever get up to the 60s?

Stopping by to say Hi. I haven't been around as much myself and I have really missed the motivation. I feel so much better if I check in and stay accountable.

Hope you (and all reading) are doing well :P

Checking in after a 10 month hiatus & to catch up with some familiar names and their stories.

I relocated down to southern Canada (prairies) from the High Arctic and am reacquainting myself with all of my family, friends, and all the amenities readily available outside of the Arctic.

That being said, we've had the coldest winter here with record breaking snowfalls and weeks and weeks of -30C. Go figger ........

My kindest wishes to Strawberry Roan and her dear cowboy - hoping that happy trails are soon here again. MJ, I am catching up on your thread as well. And, of course, Patty's (aka Sweetness). And Jonas too.

This thread and the people on it are always a joy! :D

Great to hear that your hiatus has included No S compliance. Hope the habits sustain you on the return to food, food everywhere.

Welcome back and greetings from sunny Cuernavaca!!! 8) I'm sure the prairies of southern Canada have not been any better than Minnesota. All my Twin Cities friends have been complaining and suffering with the long, cold, snowy winter. We were there for one month of it, Dec. 18 to January 21 and it was colder than normal, but a month I can handle! I'm glad you can be a bit closer to civilization although I did enjoy vicariously experiencing your life way up there. Is this a permanant move?
