Sublime Music

Post by Graham » Sat Nov 17, 2012 9:49 am

Just a few days ago I heard "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen for the first time. I particularly like this choral work sung by church choirs such as King's College Chapel or Winchester Cathedral choir - but many fine choral versions can be found on YouTube. If you don't like the sound of boy sopranos there are other choirs, University of Utah for example, also doing a fine rendition.

I thought, if anyone here doesn't know this piece, they might be glad to know of it, I find it sublime.

OH MY GOSH I STRAIGHT LOVE THIS PIECE! It is so amazing! If you're into that sort of music (personally, I'm addicted to it!) you may also enjoy:

-Miserere by Allegri

-Sicut Cervus by Palestrina

-O Bone Jesu also by Palestrina

-Agnus Dei by Samuel Barber (that one is my favorite!)

Also, if you enjoy listening to that sort of music, I have found it is even more edifying to sing it. My siblings and I have enough voices to do four or five part pieces and it is so much fun!
Na Razie!
