3 out of 3 dental websites agree, snacking is bad for teeth

You thought it was just the "no sweets" part, but "no snacking" is important, too.

From

Frequent snacking speeds up the destruction of teeth. Whenever the cavity-causing bacteria on your teeth come into contact with food or drinks containing sugar or starches, the bacteria feed upon the sugars and produce acids that dissolve the protective surface of the teeth.
From

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency ... 001055.htm
Frequent snacking increases the time that acids are in contact with the surface of the tooth.
From

http://www.aapd.org/publications/brochures/snacking.asp
A food with sugar or starch is safer for teeth if it's eaten with a meal, not as a snack.

Wow, that's good to know. Plus it helps us to stay away from those naughty snack cravings :)

On a somewhat related topic... Being angry all the time is linked to gum disease, like gingivitis and peritonitis (sp???)... When we are fat and miserable, for long periods of time, chances are we are depressed and suppressing a lot of anger too.. When we take care of our bodies health, through diet and exercise we feel and look good, and hence are less angry, which results in much smiling and showing off our, now-safe-from-snacking-and sweets, healthy smile!

Peace and Love,
8) Deb
