Funny article on "paleo"

Post by ironchef » Tue Sep 15, 2015 11:50 pm

I enjoyed this article on the paleo diet. I've got a few friends who are very into raw/paleo at the moment and pretty evangelical about it, so it's nice to see the other side.

It's just another way to avoid having to grapple with moderation. You can't overeat bread if you don't eat it at all. Lightweights! But I chose to wrestle bread to the ground and win- most of the time. I admit I"m prouder of being able to eat just one piece of it than I would be of eliminating it. Maybe I'll pay some price I don't know about, but I strongly doubt it. Maybe I'll even develop a health condition that responds to paleo! But the odds are "agin" it.

BTW, for the heck of it, I searched "just eat less" and on one page had the whole debate. Eat less, exercise more is a scam vs. eat less, exercise more is the only way. Aack!

Put food on a plate and eat it. Repeat thousands of times. Live and then die.

Myth 1: Paleolithic People Ate Meat Galore
Haha, good one. "We have incisors so we are meant to eat meat constantly." Well just because we can, doesn't mean we should. We can also graze instead of eating 3 meals, but doesn't mean that we should.

I would imagine that hunting, killing and preparing meat was so labor intensive that the cavemen probably wouldn't eat it for every meal! We have teeth to eat a variety of things and I bet they probably did.
